Logging on to the intermediary program results in log-in information being transmitted from an encrypted file to the database system via the intermediary program. The database system includes the ability for the user to enter criteria for a query in a variety of different manners, including the ability to directly modify generated SQL statements and the ability to use input lists in creating queries. In addition, the queries entered by the user can be stored in a separate database, such that the efficiency and operation of the database system can be improved. In addition, the delivery of query results and reports allows for delivery of files that are associated with a data period in any format and also allows the user to receive multiple reports in a single, compressed file.

Abstract: The invention relates to indexing of digitized entities in a large and comparatively unstructured data collection, for instance the Internet, such that text-based searches with respect to the data collection can be ordered via a user client terminal. Index information is generated for each digitized entity, which contains distinctive features being ranked according to a rank parameter. The rank parameter indicates a degree of relevance of particular distinctive feature with respect to a given digitized entity and is derived from fields or tags associated with one or more copies of the digitized entity in the data collection. The index information is stored in a searchable database, which is accessible via a user client interface and a search engine. The derived distinctive features and the rank parameter thus provides a possibility to carry out text-based searches in respect of non-text digitized entities, such as images, audio files and video sequences and obtain a highly relevant search result.

Abstract: In a customizable data migration method and system, when a migration program is launched, it queries a system server for entity-level and user-level policies. The migration program then creates a customized interface to the user, where the entity-level and user-level polices are applied with hierarchical priorities. In this manner, flexibility is provided in the data migration process. The end user is allowed to maintain a personality on a given user system and to transfer this personality along with the company specified data. This increases the uptime of the user by reducing the re-customization time when the user is cascaded to a new user system.

Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention is directed to a data structure for representing a spatial region. The data structure comprises a hierarchical arrangement of nodes associated with a plurality of refinement levels, wherein each node of the hierarchical arrangement of nodes is a regular spatial subdivision of the spatial region or another node that is associated with a preceding refinement level. The hierarchical arrangement of nodes forms a directed acyclic graph. The hierarchical arrangement of nodes comprises at least two nodes that have respective edges that are traversed to a common child node such that the hierarchical arrangement of nodes does not comprise a repeated pattern from any two nodes of a common refinement level of the data structure.

Abstract: A method of monitoring queues in real time can include building a master list specifying available queues, wherein each queue within the master list is associated with a user, and registering each queue specified by the master list with an instant messaging system. The method further can include sending, to a client, a secondary list of queues associated with a particular user and selected from the master list. The secondary list can be formatted as an instant messaging contact list. A presence on the instant messaging system can be established for each queue specified by the secondary list. The method also can include obtaining queue information for queues specified by the master list and making the queue information, for queues specified by the secondary list, available to the client via the instant messaging system.

Abstract: A process plant data collection and viewing system uses a common or integrated navigational tree structure and one or more common display formats to enable a user to view, in a similar and consistent manner, information obtained from different applications or data sources within a process plant at any desired level of integration, even though the actual data from the multiple different data applications or data sources may be collected and organized in different manners by different data sources. Because a common visualization of information is provided at different levels of data integration, a user can easily navigate through the data stored in the database or collected by the different data sources at higher or lower levels of data integration without having to contend with or encounter multiple different viewing formats for the same type of data.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that enable searches of social networks by acting as a “compass” that assists users in navigating the social network. Individual user participation is not required in response to queries from other users. The systems and methods offer navigational assistance or information as opposed to a traditional search which returns requested information, thus currently acceptable social mechanisms for arbitrating trust can be exploited. As a result, users do not make their personal information publicly searchable, while at the same time, they are protected from potential misrepresentations of facts.

Abstract: Described is a method and system that manages filenames for filter drivers in a file system. The present invention includes a filter manager that handles filename queries from the filter drivers. The filter manager returns a pointer to the requesting filter driver that points to a filename information structure corresponding to the type of filename requested. The filter manager also manages a cache of filename information structures that include information that can be shared among the various filter drivers, amortizing the filename queries for filter drivers. The caching functionality of the filter manager increases the efficiency and reduces the overhead of filename queries within the file system by reducing the number of filename operations required for a file system filter driver to retrieve a desired portion of the filename.

Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture for device selection. A command is generated in a host, wherein the command is for a library manager not directly connected to the host. A device is selected from a subsystem in a storage library based on a preference order, wherein the storage library is coupled to the host and the library manager. The command is sent from the host to the selected device for communicating with the library manager.

In one embodiment, a business document production application displays a portion of a business document containing business data that is intended to be tagged; and concurrently a tagging application manager integrated with the business document production application displays a portion of an XBRL taxonomy. Responsive to a user input event corresponding to a selection of an XBRL attribute and corresponding to a request to map the selected XBRL attribute to a selected cell or range of displayed business data, (i) XBRL markup information is created by forming an association between the selected XBRL attribute and the selected business data; and (ii) the business data is signified as having XBRL markup data by providing an associated visual indication. Then, an XBRL instance document is generated based on the XBRL markup information and the business data.

Abstract: An intelligent framework is provided that is disposed between a high-level language environment and a database system environment. According to one embodiment, the framework programmatically receives information regarding definitions of data structures of objects participating in a software application and information regarding relationships among the objects. Based upon the particular request from the high-level language environment and upon the definitions and relationships, the framework programmatically and dynamically generates appropriate statements associated with the database system environment that accomplish the request. For example, the framework may issue statements to define the structure of a database, access information from the database, and/or manipulate information within the database.

Abstract: Conflict checking for writing operations in an SQL database system is carried out for nested statements invoked by a parent statement. Each statement has an associated table access data structure defined at compile-time indicating the tables in the database that the statement accesses and the mode of access. At execution-time the table access data structure for each nested statement is accessed and the information is compared with a list of tables maintained for the parent statement to determine if there is a read/write or write/write conflict possible if the nested statement is executed. Where there is no conflict detected, the information from the table access data structure is copied to the list of tables.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for conscious digital data processing systems. These may include storing data in a set of associated nodes and performing relational operations on this data. In certain instances, the execution of instructions is recorded and new sequences of instructions are synthesized. These recorded instructions may be later spontaneously selected for execution. Values associated with the data may be kept in an array and the behavior of the digital data processing system tailored according to those values.
