Patent number: 4489748Abstract: A valve body is disclosed located in the hydraulic system of a machine which valve serves to direct hydraulic fluid under pressure to hydraulic components or divert the fluid to a system reservoir to prevent component operation. A check valve in the valve body is opened or closed by control means with the check valve indirectly determining the position of a pressure responsive spool for either normal fluid passage to hydraulic components or fluid diversion back to a reservoir. Remote actuation of the control means is by a hand operated air, lockable pump to enable an authorized equipment operator to remotely actuate said control means to effect locking or unlocking of the hydraulic system by positioning the check valve. A modified check valve control dispenses with the air pump and utilizes a lock plunger to bias the check valve to a closed position for normal hydraulic system operation or, conversely, to open the check valve to divert pressurized fluid back to a system reservoir.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1982Date of Patent: December 25, 1984Inventor: Ellis E. Patent number: 4479506Abstract: The invention provides a conduit blow out preventer utilizing movement of an annular piston to selectively effect the reduction of flow through the blowout preventer to a pre-determinable value or alternately, terminate flow therethrough altogether in response to the occurence of a pressure fluctuation in the fluid conduit to which the conduit is attached. An annular fluid conduit is defined between the interior bore of the annular piston and a support post. A discontinuous annular sealing element is provided in such fluid passage to provide an orifice, creating a pressure differential across the piston in the event of a biased flow surge. Axial movement of the annular piston results in closing of the outward fluid flow in the annular fluid passage and flow is then restricted to that permitted by a radially disposed orifice communicating with the annular fluid passage. A check valve in a fluid inlet is normally held off its seat by a connecting rod extending to the support post.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 1982Date of Patent: October 30, 1984Assignee: Baker Cac, Inc.Inventor: Kip B. Patent number: 4474189Abstract: An apparatus incorporating a normally-closed check valve mounted on the inlet end of a vapor withdrawal conduit and located in the upper vapor portion of a partially filled pressurized LP gas tank on a recreational vehicle or the like. The outlet end of the vapor withdrawal conduit extends to a point lower and exterior to the volatile liquid container and is connected to a control valve to stop the flow of fluid. As the control valve is opened to allow fluid to pass. Then the pressure in the vapor withdrawal conduit drops. The check valve opens and allows gases from the volatile liquid container to pass down the tube. After the control valve is closed, the pressure in the vapor withdrawal conduit increases till it equals the pressure in the container. The check valve closes and stops the flow of fluid. When the apparatus is used in a movable mode, such as on a vehicle, the check valve is closed, preventing the volatile liquid contained in the container from being splashed into the vapor withdrawal conduit.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 1981Date of Patent: October 2, 1984Inventor: Harley D. Patent number: 4471810Abstract: A new and improved valve apparatus having an operating mechanism sealed in such a manner that the fluid pressure urging thereon produces offsetting or balancing forces to enhance ease of valve operation. To accomplish the force balancing, the flow closure means is continuously sealed to the valve housing and seat to produce the desired pressure responsive surfaces. By balancing the pressure forces, movement of the valve closure element between the open and closed positions with a minimum of operating force is accomplished. In addition the operating mechanism tubular flow closure element and valve seat having a plurality of opposed radially disposed flow opening are arranged so that the controlled flow through the openings into the seat impinges on itself to prevent flow cutting or erosion of the valve seat. When the flow closure element moves to the closed position, it activates a protected second seal on the seat to block flow throuh the flow openings.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 1982Date of Patent: September 18, 1984Assignee: Valve Concepts InternationalInventors: John D.
