  • Patent number: 8910420
Abstract: A compact, sliding door apparatus includes three vertically curved panels positioned in a doorway. A first of the panels is solid and is operatively connected to a slot above the doorway enabling the first panel to move side to side in the doorway. The second of the panels is hollow and receives a portion of the first panel. The second panel is also operatively connected to the slot above the doorway for side to side movement of the panel across the doorway. A third of the panels has a hollow interior and is stationary adjacent the doorway. The third panel hollow interior receives a portion of the second panel. The doorway is opened by moving the first panel into the second panel interior to open a portion of the doorway, and then moving the second panel into the third panel interior to fully open the doorway.

  • Patent number: 8898957
Abstract: A safety guard or gate for placement in a frame of an opening to prevent a child or pet from passing though the opening. The present invention includes an adjustable means for adjusting the guard to fit the width of the frame, wherein the adjustable means has a first end and a second end to form an axis along which the means can be adjusted. The invention further includes an attachment means for securing the guard to the frame; and a securing means for securing the adjustable means to the attachment means. The securing means prevents the adjustable means from disengaging from the attachment means along the axis when in a locked position, and allows disengagement and reengagement of the adjustable means in direction that transects the axis when the securing means is in an unlocked position. The present invention further includes methods for using the safety guard, and systems that include elements of the safety guard.

  • Patent number: 8893438
Abstract: A weather strip is provided. The weather strip is arranged so as to intersect a portion joined by overlapping a plurality of panels, and is provided with a tip projection portion which projects onto an extension line of the exterior side wall portion from the tip of an exterior side wall portion of an attachment portion. The tip projection portion is formed from a material which deforms easier than a material forming the sealing portion and is formed in a shape which becomes thin towards a projecting direction with a width dimension which does not exceed the thickness of the tip of the exterior side wall portion in a cross section along the width direction of the attachment portion, and when the attachment portion is attached to the flange, the tip projection portion stretches in the longitudinal direction of the attachment portion and comes into contact with the panels.

  • Patent number: 8887445
Abstract: A vehicle comprises an outer shell having an opening and a cover for the opening. The cover comprises: a housing, a window and a motor for moving the window. The motor management unit stores three predetermined positions of the window relative to the housing. When the housing is engaged with the opening: in the first predetermined position the window is resiliently retained within the seal and the cover can be released from the opening without damage to the cover; in the second predetermined position the window does not engage with the seal; and in the third predetermined position the window extends into the seal and the window is prevented from being released from the seal without the window first being retracted to the first or second positions. The motor management unit causes the motor to extend the window to the third predetermined position when the vehicle exceeds a predetermined speed.

  • Patent number: 8869451
Abstract: A finger guard device is designed to be inserted into a gap between a hinged door and a doorjamb that is created when the door is at least partially open. The finger guard device includes a wedge and a protuberance from the wedge that is shaped and sized to hook over a hinge of the door. The finger guard device is placed to straddle a hinge so that the wedge extends down one side of a hinge and the protuberance hooks over the other side of the hinge. When the finger guard is so placed, the door can not be completely closed and a gap remains between the door and the doorjamb. This gap prevents injury caused by fingers being pinched in doorjambs.

  • Patent number: 8733024
Abstract: A door system comprises a door panel, a support member, and a pivoting vertical plate. The door panel comprises a plurality of discrete rigid insulation pieces interposed between flexible layers. An outer skin encompasses the rigid insulation pieces and the flexible layers. The door panel is secured to the support member by the outer skin, such that the outer skin bears the weight of the door panel. The vertical plate is secured to a trailing side of the door panel. The vertical plate includes keepers that selectively engage hooks extending from a casing positioned at a doorway. The rigidity of the door panel depends on the pivotal position of the vertical plate relative to a plane defined by the door panel. The door panel provides sufficient flexibility to withstand impacts from objects and vehicles yet also provides sufficient rigidity to insulate a cold environment from a warm environment.

  • Patent number: 8720114
Abstract: A window regulator prevents a carrier plate from derailing from a guide rail by preventing the generation of a force which is applied when the carrier plate and a stopper member collide with each other and which lifts up the carrier plate. In the window regulator, an impact absorption body is installed in a press fitting recess of the carrier plate. The impact absorption body is made of an elastic material for absorbing an impact caused by a collision between the carrier plate and the stopper member that regulates a slide position of the carrier plate. A collision surface formed on the stopper member is tilted toward the carrier plate with respect to a plane that is perpendicular to an axis of the guide rail such that the collision surface pushes the carrier plate down toward the guide rail when it collides with the impact absorbing body.
