  • Patent number: 8260896
Abstract: Methods, systems, devices, and software are described for data transmission to and from a monitored device via a mesh network. Monitoring devices report usage, status, location, and other pertinent data via a mesh network, and perhaps other networks as well. Novel data collection, transmission, and aggregation techniques are described. Data transfer may be bi-directional in order to manage and update device status and operation. The monitored device location may be tracked with the reported information.

  • Patent number: 8260911
Abstract: A dispatching method for polling device data. The method comprises: sorting managed devices according to their types, sorting various types of data of each device so as to form different modules, and assigning a priority attribute and a polling period attribute to each module; dividing the managed devices into two sets: one set consisting of devices to be polled and the other set consisting of devices whose connection states need to be detected; and polling each module in the set consisting of devices to be polled according to its priority and polling period periodically. Different polling periods can be set and different polling policies can be applied according to data changeability. Polling policies can be changed in real time and flexibly based on the condition of devices.

  • Patent number: 8260875
Abstract: A method for reproducing media items using a first entertainment device is provided. The first entertainment device communicates with a portable entertainment device via a wireless link. The method includes reproducing a first media item using media reproduction means; generating a media list of one or more media items for reproduction by the first entertainment device; collating the media list at the first entertainment device; designating a second media item as the next media item to be reproduced by the media reproduction means after completion of the reproduction of the first media item; and detecting whether the second media item is stored on the first removable storage medium. If the second media item is not stored thereon, the method includes storing media data relating to the first media item on a local storage medium for reproduction in dependence upon the media data stored in the local storage medium.

  • Patent number: 8260910
Abstract: A system that determines whether a pattern of data elements was observed in a stream of data. During operation, the system receives a query which seeks to determine whether the pattern of data elements was observed in the stream of data. In response to the query, the system performs a number of lookups in an enhanced Bloom filter to determine whether the pattern of data elements was observed in the stream of data, wherein the enhanced Bloom filter includes multiple instances of a Bloom filter, and wherein each instance of the Bloom filter is associated with a different time interval. If so, the system generates a notification that the pattern of data elements was observed.

  • Patent number: 8260940
Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method for managing service requests are disclosed. The system includes a service provider, having a number of server devices, that provides a service response in response to a client service request. The service response includes a service instance ID associated with a server and a connection lease. A communication processing component routes a first client service request to one of the servers. Subsequent client service requests and responses are transmitted directly between the client device and the server device associated with service instance ID included in the first service response for the duration of the connection lease.

  • Patent number: 8260949
Abstract: Systems and methods for delivering streaming data content to a client device over a data communication network in response to a request for the data content from the client device. The client request is received by a server or a controller device that is typically located on a network switch device. If received by a server, the server sends a request to the controller device to control the transfer of the requested data to the client. The controller device includes the processing capability required for retrieving the streaming data and delivering the streaming data directly to the client device without involving the server system. In some cases, the controller device mirrors the data request to another controller device to handle the data processing and delivery functions. In other cases, the controller device coordinates the delivery of the requested data using one or more other similar controller devices in a pipelined fashion.

  • Patent number: 8260866
Abstract: Upon accepting, from a user B, a new registration of a configuration showing that the user B wishes to receive data via a FAX, a server sets a notification flag to an address book of a user A which includes an address of the user B. Upon accepting a login of the user A, an MFP displays a message to notify the user A of the new registration by the user B, based on the notification flag. The user A, who has notified of the new registration, can transmit the data to the user B with use of the new registration configured by the user B, namely via a FAX. Accordingly, the user B can receive the data via a FAX as the user B wishes.

  • Patent number: 8260878
Abstract: The user of a mobile station which is prepared to receive information providing services from unspecified IP (Information Providers) accesses a gateway server and performs a pre-registration procedure (S71). When an IP server has information to provide to users, it constructs the information in the form of electronic mail, appends user attribute data, and sends this to the gateway server (S72). Upon receiving electronic mail with attribute data, the gateway server stores the electronic mail in a third mailbox, makes a comparison of the user attributes, and calls the mobile stations of relevant users (S73). A user who has received a call requests a download of the electronic mail from the gateway server (S74). The gateway server sends electronic mail to the mobile station which made the request (S75, S76).

  • Patent number: 8230101
Abstract: Transfer control means (41) transfers part of held digital contents in an internal storage device (51) to a network storage device (57). List information presentation means (42) returns list information which makes the digital contents stored in the internal storage device (51) and the network storage device (57) as the held digital contents in response to a list presentation request for the held digital contents. Upon reception of a data transmission request, search means (43) searches where the held digital contents are currently stored. If the result of the search shows the network storage device (57), content data transmission processing means (44) allows the stream-delivery of the data from the network storage device (57) to a network player (56). There is provided a server device for media (40) capable of maintaining the convenience of playback in a network player, while properly dealing with the large total size of held digital contents.

  • Patent number: 8166129
Abstract: For providing to a user on a communication terminal (1) media content (31) from a content server (3), a Session Initiation Protocol message, addressed to a resource identifier identifying the media content (31), is transmitted from the communications terminal (1) to a Call Session Control Function unit (S-CSCF), in response to the user activating a hyperlink associated with the media content (31). If there are filter criteria (iFC) associated with the user and associating the first message with an application server (SIP-AS), the resource identifier is transmitted from the Call Session Control Function unit (S-CSCF) to the application server (SIP-AS). The application server (SIP-AS) transmits to the communication terminal (1) accessing means for the user to retrieve the media content (31) from the content server (3).

  • Patent number: 8150973
Abstract: A method and system of conveying data to a remote computer, which may act as a management console. A virtual communications port is provided to a central processing unit. The virtual communications port is provided using a device distinct from the central processing unit, such as a network controller card with manageability features inborn. The device providing the virtual communications port receives the data written to the virtual communications port. Thereafter, the device transmits the data into a network, addressed for reception by the remote computer. The remote computer may be used as a management console so that keystrokes entered thereupon may be relayed through the virtual communications port to the aforementioned central processing unit.

  • Patent number: 8127044
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the delivery of audio and video data by a server device. A network can interconnect various media components in the same home. Such a network comprises a server, generally a computer, and clients, for example a decoder. This configuration offers the possibility of creating a desktop managed by the server but remotely controlled by the client via the network. Such a network must transmit data and process them rapidly. Currently, the trend is to compress the data traveling through the network as much as possible. However, the more these data are compressed, the longer they take to process. The invention does not provide for facilitating the transfer of the data but for reducing the time required to process the data flowing through the network.
