  • Patent number: 7809349
Abstract: The present invention is an RF filter that translates impedances of an IF circuit to create a filter with an RF center frequency having the high Q roll-off characteristics of an IF filter. The RF filter is self-aligned with the frequency of an RF local oscillator. The RF filter has an impedance divider, which is formed by coupling an RF impedance circuit to a translated IF impedance circuit. The translated IF impedance circuit includes an RF passive mixer and an IF impedance circuit. The mixer translates the impedance of the IF impedance circuit by mixing an RF input signal with an RF local oscillator signal, which determines the RF center frequency. Filtered RF signals may be provided by the impedance divider. Filtered IF signals may be provided by the IF impedance circuit. To effectively translate and preserve the IF impedance characteristics, the IF impedance circuit presents a high impedance at harmonics of the RF local oscillator signal.

  • Patent number: 7773959
Abstract: The present invention provides a quadrature RF amplifier output network that includes a quadrature RF combiner and impedance transformation circuitry. The output network is coupled between a quadrature RF amplifier and an antenna, or other downstream circuitry to optimize net RF power transfer and improve overall power efficiency. The quadrature RF combiner phase-shifts and combines quadrature RF signals from the quadrature RF amplifier into a single combined RF signal that feeds the impedance transformation circuitry. The impedance transformation circuitry transforms an impedance that is presented to the output of the quadrature RF amplifier output network into a desired quadrature impedance that is presented to the outputs of the quadrature RF amplifier. Termination circuitry is coupled to the quadrature RF combiner to capture improperly phased signals, reflected signals, or imbalanced signals.

  • Patent number: 7764937
Abstract: Counter-clockwise and clockwise quadrant transitions are detected and accumulated with respect to a received complex signal over a certain time period. These transitions may then be compared in order to obtain information indicative of both a magnitude and phase of a carrier frequency error for the received signal. Additionally, zero-crossings of the received complex signal over the same certain time period are detected and accumulated. The accumulated crossings provide information indicative of frequency offset magnitude. The determined magnitude and phase of the frequency error may then be used to adjust a local oscillator frequency to provide for improved receiver performance.
