Patent number: 7760677Abstract: In one among many embodiments, the invention provides a system including an interrogator communicating to a selected one or more of a number of communications devices. A plurality of communications devices select random values independently of random values selected by other devices. The interrogator transmits a first signal requesting devices within a specified group of devices to respond, the specified group being less than or equal to all of the devices within a field of the interrogator. Devices receiving the first signal respectively determine if the respective device falls within the specified group and, if so, send a reply including a respective random value to the interrogator within a randomly selected time slot of a number of slots; and, if not, do not send a reply. The interrogator determines if a collision occurred between devices that sent a reply. The interrogator also creates a new, different specified group.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2005Date of Patent: July 20, 2010Assignee: Keystone Technology Solutions, LLCInventor: Clifton W. Wood, Jr.

Patent number: 7606207Abstract: A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) recovers data from a plurality of data signals received as a received vector. The WTRU determines data of the received vector by determining a Cholesky factor of an N by N matrix and using the determined Cholesky factor in forward and backward substitution to determine data of the received data signals. The WTRU comprises an array of at most N scalar processing elements. The array has input for receiving elements from the N by N matrix and the received vector. Each scalar processing element is used in determining the Cholesky factor and performs forward and backward substitution. The array outputs data of the received vector.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2007Date of Patent: October 20, 2009Assignee: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventors: Peter E. Becker, Stephan S. Supplee

Patent number: 7596110Abstract: A router providing selective routing depending on traffic direction. The router includes two IP interfaces, where each IP interface is associated with a respective virtual private network. The router uses two forwarding tables. The first forwarding table routes traffic towards a first IP interface and a second forwarding table is capable of simultaneously routing traffic in the opposite direction, away from the first IP interface. The first IP interface is coupled to a first tunnel which provides bi-directional connectivity to mobile stations. The second IP interface is coupled to a second tunnel providing bi-directional connectivity to a corporate network. The router also includes a third interface which provides bi-directional connectivity to mobile stations. The router routes traffic through the second interface in the event that a mobile station on one interface is communicating with a mobile station on the third interface.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2003Date of Patent: September 29, 2009Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (PUBL)Inventors: Jan Backman, Krister Norlund, Anders Engstrom, Linus Magnusson, Johan Kopman

Patent number: 7586844Abstract: Virtual circuits are dynamically established in a telecommunications network. A cache duration is adaptively determined based on at least one characteristic of the telecommunications network. A virtual circuit is established for a connection between a source and a destination. The virtual circuit is cached when the connection between the source and the destination terminates. The cached virtual circuit is reused when a new connection request occurs during the cache duration. The cached virtual circuit is released after the cache duration when no new connection request occurs during the cache duration.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2007Date of Patent: September 8, 2009Assignee: AT&T Labs, Inc.Inventors: Yetik Serbest, Haifeng Bi, Samuel Sigarto

Patent number: 7580389Abstract: A first communication device (e.g., the communication device that is sending data) monitors a radio channel in a predetermined set of radio channels. A message is transmitted on the first radio channel if the first radio channel is unoccupied. A second radio channel from the predetermined set of channels is checked if the first radio channel is occupied. The message is sent on the second radio channel if the second radio channel is unoccupied and the message was not sent on the first radio channel. Patent number: 7545740Abstract: A method for communication includes coupling a network node to one or more interface modules using a first group of first physical links arranged in parallel. Each of the one or more interface modules is coupled to a communication network using a second group of second physical links arranged in parallel. A data frame having frame attributes sent between the communication network and the network node is received. A first physical link out of the first group and a second physical link out of the second group are selected in a single computation based on at least one of the frame attributes. The data frame is sent over the selected first and second physical links. This method allows two or more link aggregation groups to be concatenated, using a single processing stage to determine port assignment for each frame in each of the link aggregation groups.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 2006Date of Patent: June 9, 2009Assignee: Corrigent Systems Ltd.Inventors: David Zelig, Ronen Solomon, Uzi Khill

Patent number: 7546570Abstract: A communications bus enables communication of data signals in a parallel processing system having a plurality of substantially identical cells, each cell having an access point for transmitting data signals into the communications bus. The communications bus includes a plurality of parallel channels, and at least one channel crossover point associated with each cell. Each crossover point implements a regular change in a channel order of the communications bus, such that each access point is coupled to a channel of the communications bus. Propagation delays are reduced by inserting buffers at regular intervals along the length of each channel. An output buffer at a downstream boundary of each power domain of the system prevents undesired currents due to voltage mismatch. The propagation direction of data signals away from the access point, and propagation of data to an adjacent downstream cell can be controlled to reduce bus traffic and power consumption.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2002Date of Patent: June 9, 2009Assignee: Hyperchip Inc.Inventors: Richard S. Patent number: 7535837Abstract: A burst mode optical signal is transported as payload of a framed continuous bit-stream optical signal through an optical transport network. The optical bursts are all generated at a common nominal bitrate which equals substantially the payload bitrate of the continuous bit-stream optical signal. The bursts are converted into a continuous bit stream by filling gaps between the bursts with a predefined pattern. The continuous bit stream thus created is then mapped into frames to generate the framed continuous bit-stream optical signal for transmission.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2004Date of Patent: May 19, 2009Assignee: ALCATELInventors: Michael Joachim Wolf, Dieter Beller

Patent number: RE41024Abstract: The present invention provides for a system This document describes embodiments for communicating with a host using a global address and a local address. The present invention allows These embodiments allow for the communication to be initiated by an entity outside the host's network. The entity initiating the communication resolves the destination host's domain name into a global address and a local address. Messages are sent to the destination host using both the global address and the local address. In one embodiment, both the global and local address are included in the message by encapsulating IP packets. Some embodiments of the present invention also use pseudo addressing.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2008Date of Patent: December 1, 2009Inventors: Hasan Alkhatib, Fouad Tobagi, Bruce C Wootton
