Abstract: A system and method are provided for an application server configuration tool. In an embodiment the configuration tool includes a data layer to store a configuration for an application server or a cluster of application servers. The data layer may include a database and a file system. The configuration tool may also include a logic layer having one or more logical tasks to implement the functions of the configuration tool. The configuration tool may also include a front-end layer which may have a graphical user interface; a markup language generator, and/or a console.

Abstract: A system and method for building a client application in a client-server network are disclosed. One system includes an HTML file that is requested from a server. An infrastructure script file is requested from the server based on a reference in the header section of the HTML file, and an infrastructure class instance is created. In the body section of the HTML file, the infrastructure class instance creates component instances based on one or more calls in the HTML file. To create the component instances, the infrastructure class instance first loads the component class script files from the server, and creates and links the component classes based on the component class scripts. Component instances are then created based on the linked component classes to thereby form the application.

Abstract: An electronic apparatus with a display unit that can display icons indicating an apparatus state or an operating condition based on an on-screen display function includes an apparatus-condition detecting unit that detects a change of the apparatus state or a change of a setting of the operating condition; an icon assigning unit that assigns an icon indicating the apparatus state or the operating condition for which the change is detected by the apparatus-condition detecting unit; and an on-screen-display controller that displays the icon assigned in a shape different from the icon before being assigned.

Abstract: To provide a reaction information display system that makes it possible, although simple in constitution without using special equipment, to grasp, easily in real time, the reaction, from a large number of users, to a single piece of evaluated object information supplied through an information communication network. Abstract: The present application describes a work management/tracking framework that allows users to organize work around goals that may utilize several applications. Goals may encompass smaller individual tasks that span more than one application. An action object is used to represent a goal and can have one or more task items associated with it. The task items associated with an action object represent tasks that are included in the events and processes necessary to accomplish the goal. As a user works, the tasks that the user works on are tracked. If the user has requested to maintain the tasks in an action object, the tasks are associated with an action object. The user is assisted in pulling in possible task items that the user may wish to associate with an action object by being provided with a list of selectable task items that may be related to the action object.

Abstract: The present invention provides a computer-implemented method for managing commands for a terminal session. Specifically, using the graphical user interface of the present invention, a user can select a terminal session, and input one or more commands. Upon being input, a command is automatically send to the selected terminal session and added to a history or list of commands. Thus, the commands are “recorded” for potential future use upon being input. The commands are typically arranged in the list in a particular sequence, such as the order in which the commands were input. The user can individually send a command in the list to a terminal session, or the user can send a sequence of commands to the terminal session. In any event, results of executing the commands in the terminal session can be verified.

Abstract: An editor application receives a selection of content made with a selection tool such as a computer mouse. The editor application monitors one or more motion attributes (e.g., direction, speed, etc.) associated with the selection tool during the selection of content. During a respective operation (e.g., pasting) of the selected content, the editor application takes into account the one or more motion attributes associated with the selection tool when initiating a paste function with respect to the selected content. That is, the one or more motion attributes observed during the selection of content dictate (at least in part) how editor application will use the selected content. For example, a user can select text from right-to-left. During a respective copy and paste operation, because the text was selected in reverse order, the editor application reverses an ordering of how the characters appear in the pasted text.

Abstract: A method of presenting time-dependent information displays a first time scale that includes at least one first time unit and a plurality of second time units, which are subunits of the first time unit. The method displays time-dependent information according to the first time scale. A graphical drill-up control is provided for the first time unit. A graphical drill-down control is provided for each of the second time units. Actuation of the drill-up control displays a new time scale that includes at least one third time unit, of which the first time unit is a subunit, and a plurality of first time units. The method then displays the time-dependent information according to the new time scale. Actuation of the drill-down control displays a second new time scale that includes a plurality of third time units, each of which is a subunit of the second time unit. The method then displays the time-dependent information according to the second new time scale.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer-readable media are provided for organizing links on a web page via drag and drop operations. Single web page links or groups of web page links may be dragged from one location on a web page to another location on a web page or to another group of links on the web page. Links may also be dragged from a first web page or first client application document and may be dropped to a second web page on a same or separate web browsing application.

Abstract: A method of generating an image or a video stream is disclosed, in which a composition space within a standard display tool is utilized. In an embodiment, a video editor is configured to control a timer and a frame grabber of the standard display tool, which is configured to receive a document encoded in a standard display language. The video editor controls the timing according to quality requirements, the standard display tool composes an image from the document in the composition space, the frame grabber transmits the image to a destination, such as a video compressor, which may collect a series of images as frames and generate a video stream from the images.

Abstract: A modeling system for universal specification of user interfaces. The system provides a means for defining user interfaces, including highly complex and dynamic user interfaces, in a manner that is independent of any implementation context. The modeling system leads from a user-friendly visual representation of the user interface, through progressively detailed specifications of structural and behavioral aspects of the user interface parts, until a rigorous definition of the user interface in all its contexts of use is achieved. Using the information captured in the model, tools that automatically generate the fully working user interface code can be built.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for generating colorized previews of selected document templates. Upon selection of a desired color scheme, each document template represented by a collection of displayed document template previews is colorized according to a user-selected color scheme to provide the user with a preview of the collection of document templates colorized according to the user's desired color scheme prior to selection of one of the displayed templates for actual use. The colorized document templates are converted to bitmap format and are displayed to the user to allow the user to select a particular template colorized according to the user's selected color scheme.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a desktop search tool that allows users to efficiently retrieve or locate a desired object on their computer. Users specify their search based on a time context. In addition, the desktop search tool may provide its results in a temporal context to assist the user in browsing through the results.

Abstract: There is disclosed an input device including a display for displaying a plurality of icons, and a selector for selecting a displayed icon. At least a portion of the display is an electronic display. The device is adapted such that the selector moves relative to the display between a plurality of positions. At least one position corresponds to a displayed icon. The device further includes a function selection means. A function associated with an icon corresponding to a current position of the selector is selected when the function selection means is enabled.

Abstract: Pausing a graphic processing operation in order to continue processing a thread on a different desktop. When a graphic processing unit (GPU) is lost when a screen saver desktop is activated, the buffer containing the video frame that is currently being processed is discarded and a device is attempted to be created on the screen saver desktop which enables continued graphic processing.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for creating an electronic demonstration. The method includes capturing video of a demonstrated process that includes a plurality of steps. Each of the steps are analyzed to determine if the steps may be represented by a single frame. In response to analyzing the steps, one or more of the frames of video among the steps that may be represented as a single still motion screen shot may be deleted. The remaining frames are then assembled into an electronic demonstration movie.

Abstract: A method for managing windows in a window-based display system, the method comprising providing a plurality of windows, each window being associated with an application, at least one of the plurality of windows being able to accept focus, assigning, to each one of the plurality of windows being able to accept focus, a focus priority, assigning focus to exactly one window at any time by choosing, from among the at least one of the plurality of windows able to accept focus, a window having a highest focus priority of the windows able to accept focus, and designating the chosen window as an active window. Related apparatus and methods are also described.

Abstract: A system and related techniques to collect and manage a set of incoming message notification objects, such as instant message notifications, email notifications, download notifications, transaction notifications and others and present those objects to the user with an icon, tile or other representation on a dynamically scaled timeline. According to embodiments, the dynamically scaled timeline may present the most recently received object farthest to the right on a notifications bar or facility and slide objects to the left to represent passage of time as those objects age. Instead of presenting those objects on a linear scale, according to the invention, the time intervals in which objects may be presented may be scaled to cause the oldest message objects to be presented on a relatively compressed dimension. The most recently received messages may be presented on wider intervals, to permit the user to perceive differences in arrival of items more clearly.

Abstract: Help functionality is described for integrating help information into a primary application in a just-in-time fashion. The help functionality can perform this task by providing a see-through panel which is presented on top of an application interface provided by the primary application. A user can move a mark on the see-through panel to identify features of the application interface concerning which he or she may have questions. The help functionality responds by presenting potentially context-sensitive help information to the user in audio mode and/or visual mode. If the visual mode is selected, the help functionality can present the help information on the see-through panel itself, and/or can dynamically move parts of the application interface to accommodate the display of the help information. The help functionality can supply the help information from a local source and/or a remote source, in an automated manner and/or a manual manner (e.g., using a remote human assistant).
