Abstract: Connector plates having improved protrusions with flat surfaces facing lateral forces to increase stability and strength. Top flat surfaces are aligned with the back edge of the plate and bottom flat surfaces are aligned with the front edge of the plate. The connector plates may be used to install or erect a retaining wall, containment system, levy or a similar structure. The connector plates may have spike apertures allowing for the installation of additional spikes to further increase strength and resistance to lateral forces.
Abstract: Apparatus and method contemplating plowing with a plow blade having a subsurface cutting edge and an opposing trailing edge. A tow link is supported by the plow blade at the trailing edge. A source of pressurized fluid is connected to a discharge conduit supported by the plow blade. The discharge conduit is supplied with pressurized fluid by the source and the discharge conduit has a discharge opening positioned to discharge the pressurized fluid adjacent the link.
Abstract: A one-step sheet pile retaining wall system for embankment widening typically associated with highway widening not requiring temporary shoring. The wall system may provide a front wall face having a plurality of resistance fins perpendicularly extending therefrom. The fin sheet piles first include a brace fin sheet for reducing stresses in the front wall face, then a series of cradle fin sheets terminating at an elevation below the brace fin sheet for accommodating a pipe drainage/utility cradle, and finally a series of predominantly resistance fin sheets terminating at an elevation above the cradle fin sheets. Between the slope of the existing embankment and the higher front wall face may be cementitious flowable backfill for pre-stressing the wall system when fluid and, when set, supporting the aforementioned cradle, from which the remaining construction can build off of while reducing overall earth pressure acting on the wall face upon completion of construction.
Abstract: A method of reducing the swell potential of an expansive clay mineral. The method includes (a) carrying out a forcefield-modified molecular level simulation to determine an amount of a swelling reduction agent to be incorporated into the expansive clay mineral to form a swelling reduction agent incorporated expansive clay mineral with a reduced swell potential Si(ECM) that is no greater than a pre-set level T, wherein the swelling reduction agent comprises at least one cementation material of calcite, gypsum, and potassium chloride and/or at least one exchangeable cation of K+, Ca2+, and Mg2+, and wherein the forcefield-modified molecular level simulation comprises molecular mechanics, molecular dynamics, and Monte Carlo simulation techniques configured to simulate the reduced swell potential Si(ECM), and (b) incorporating the amount of the swelling reduction agent into the expansive clay mineral to form the swelling reduction agent incorporated expansive clay mineral.

Abstract: A removable pile cap is disclosed for use with a pile that is driven into the ground. The removable pile cap comprises a top member and at least one pile member positionable between at least a first orientation and a second orientation. The top member and the at least one pile member are connected together. When the at least one pile member is in the first orientation it is mountable over the pile's upper end. When the at least one pile member is in the second orientation it maintains frictional engagement with at least part of the pile's above-ground portion. The top member may be supported by the pile's upper end and is capable of accepting one or more structural foundation elements.
Abstract: A seal sub system for the connection of fluid lines, including first and second fluid lines, each including a terminal end with an inner diameter. A seal sub includes an inner channel and first and second pin ends, one pin end removably insertable in the fluid line terminal end with the other pin end extending from the fluid line terminal end. A seal forms a seal between the seal sub and the inner diameter of the first fluid line terminal end. The extending pin end is configured to be inserted into the terminal end of the second fluid line to establish a sealed fluid connection between the first and second fluid lines.
Abstract: A roller bracket having a base, a raising and lowering mechanism, a platform, and horizontal and vertical rollers. The base is attached to the vertical face of a starter wall at a level to provide a desired height for a concrete ceiling. With the platform in the raised position, the bottom edge of a tunnel form is lowered between the vertical roller and the starter wall onto the horizontal rollers. A wedge is driven between the vertical roller and the tunnel form to seal the tunnel form against the starter wall. After concrete has been poured, retained by the seal, and cured to form the concrete walls and ceiling, the mechanism can lower the platform to strip the tunnel form from the tunnel. The tunnel form can then be rolled away on the horizontal rollers while being retained on the horizontal rollers by the vertical roller and the starter wall.
Abstract: A fitting for attaching to double wall tubes includes a body, a fitting center port, an outer seal, a tube connection, a pad connection, an inner seal, a groove, and a diagnostic port. The body has a first surface on a first side of the body and a second surface on a second side of the body. The fitting center port extends through the body for passing a primary fluid flow. The tube connection is on the first side of the fitting, and includes an inner connection and an outer connection. The groove is in the second surface surrounding the inner seal and the groove is configured to receive an outer seal. The diagnostic port is in the second surface for transferring a collected fluid through the body to the outer connection.
