  • Patent number: 11268254
Abstract: Methods of preparing cast-in-place geopolymer piles using electrical heating wire (130) to provide heat to cure the piles are described. The heating wire (130) can be associated with a reinforcement cage (120) inserted in the pile shaft. Rod-shaped heating units comprising electrical heating wire (130) can be inserted into a pile shaft and can be reusable. Geopolymer piles with high compressive strength can be prepared from mixtures of class F fly ash and aqueous sodium hydroxide by heating the piles with the heating wire to a stable curing temperature for at least about 24 hours.

  • Patent number: 11248358
Abstract: A geogrid and a manufacturing method thereof. The geogrid comprises multiple ribs, and the multiple ribs are connected to each other at multiple junctions to form multiple cells. At each junction, two or more adjacent ribs of the multiple ribs are inserted into each other via inserts, and each junction is covered by a plastic material. The geogrid can easily be extended to a present state at a construction site, prevent tearing of apertures, prevent soil from leaking from the apertures, and prevent the inserts from rusting or corroding. Since the plastic material, the ribs, and the inserts are bonded to each other, separation strength at the junction is markedly increased. Preferably, an end portion of the insert is completely covered by the plastic material to form an end cap, and the plastic material and the ribs and the inserts are bonded to each other to form columns.

  • Patent number: 11231128
Abstract: A conduit weighting device has a container to contain ballast. The container is formed from flexible sheet material and has a top opening to receive the ballast. The device has flaps extending from respective opposite edges of the top opening of the container. The container forms an underside channel sized and shaped to receive a conduit for conforming placement of the conduit weighting device on the conduit to weight the conduit. The flaps are sized and shaped: when in an open arrangement, to extend beyond edges of a trench containing the conduit to hold open the top opening while receiving the ballast material; and when in a closed arrangement, to close the top opening of the container. The weighting device may be placed on an entrenched conduit before filling, and then filled in place with locally-available backfill. The device may be transported to the site in a collapsed compact form.

  • Patent number: 11179758
Abstract: A method for stabilizing fluorides and arsenic in soil includes: step 1, adding a calcium-containing compound to the soil contaminated by fluorides and arsenic, stirring uniformly, and standing for curing; step 2, adding an iron-containing compound to the mixture obtained in step 1, stirring uniformly, and standing for curing; and step 3, adding water to the mixture obtained in step 2, optionally adding a pH adjusting agent to adjust the gravimetric water content to 30%-40%, and standing for curing. The method uses calcium-containing and iron-containing compounds in a step-by-step manner, makes full use of the advantages of different passivation materials, combines the advantages of all reagents, and establishes an economical, efficient and environmentally friendly method for stabilizing fluorides and arsenic in soil to achieve effective remediation of contaminated soil.

  • Patent number: 11047513
Abstract: In order to reduce or remove the potential risk of heat damage in the absence of cooling jackets when joining lined pipe sections, each lined pipe section is provided with an insulatory sleeve which is disposed between the host pipe and the respective liner. The sleeves provide discrete thermal protection to the ends of the liners and, where applicable, electrofusion welds between an electrofusion fitting and the liners. The sleeves are first located in the ends of the host pipes which are then lined by drawing the liners through the host pipes via a reduction die to reduce their external diameter. The liners are then reverted towards their original dimensions resulting in a tight fitting against the internal surface of the host pipes and of the insulatory sleeves thereby compressing the insulation material.
