  • Patent number: 6382462
Abstract: A plastics pour spout fitment (3) has not only a pour spour (4) thereof welded to plastics-coated paperboard packaging material (2), but also has a plunger (14) welded to a disc (8) of the material (2), the disc (8) being defined by a ring of weakening (6) in the material. Following purely linearly axially inward displacement of the plunger (14) relative to the pour spout (4), preferably followed by rotation of the plunger (14) about the axis A of the fitment (3) relative to the spout (4), to detach the disc (8) from the remainder of the material (2), the plunger (14), and thus the disc (8), are removed from the pour spout (4) as a screw cap (12) is removed from the spout (4).

  • Patent number: 6360922
Abstract: A pump assembly including a pump attachment adapted to form a nonaerosol pump sprayer, and a method of using the same. The apparatus includes an attachment having a pump sprayer that is pressurized on the upstroke. The attachment includes a body that defines a chamber, a shaft moveable between a first and second position in the body, a piston, a first valve and a second valve. The first valve permits the flow of fluid into the chamber and restricts the flow of fluid out of the chamber. The second valve moves between an open position-permitting the flow out of the chamber and a biased closed position restricting the flow out of the chamber. When the shaft is moved to the first position, the shafts moves the second valve from the closed position to the open position. An apparatus with a bleeder orifice for automatically releasing pressure is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6334553
Abstract: An anti-float plunger for a pneumatically actuated syringe includes an inner cylindrical ring with two open ends held within a cylindrical cover having one open end and one closed end. The open end is at the backside of the plunger. The closed end is at the frontside, in contact with liquid to be forced through the syringe outlet. The cover includes an outer flexible wiper extending around the circumference. This wiper maintains an airtight seal with the syringe walls even when the walls bulge outwardly due to excessive backside pressure. The cover also includes a deformable membrane at the closed end, which deforms away from the outlet to alleviate residual pressure buildup on the liquid in the frontside. This structure eliminates air entrapment within the syringe, while also preventing residual pressure buildup within the syringe.

  • Patent number: 6318606
Abstract: A limited pour neck finish bottle wherein a plurality of radially inwardly extending flexible fingers are integral with the peripheral edge portion of the open end of the neck of a bottle and extend across the open end of the neck to restrict or interfere with the flow of liquid from the bottle if an attempt is made to pour the liquid from the bottle rather than employing an exact dose dispensing device. The bottle is made by molding a plurality of axially extending flexible fingers on the peripheral edge portion at the open end of the neck simultaneously with the molding of the bottle, and then bending the fingers downwardly to the radially inwardly extending position.

  • Patent number: 6318596
Abstract: A product dispenser for compelling a product from a container is provided having a frame with opposed end walls defining first and second axially aligned sockets and a dispensing hole. An drive member with first and second opposed ends is releasably engaged by the first and second sockets, respectively. A bearing member is adapted to travel between the first and second opposed ends of the drive member, whereby a deformable container holding a flowable product inserted into the frame expels the product through the dispensing hole under pressure exerted upon the container by the bearing member. The drive member is releasable from the frame and is re-engaged by the frame, whereby the first and second opposed ends are then releasably engaged by the second and first sockets, respectively. Therefore, after the bearing member has traveled from the first end to the second end, the bearing member may be repositioned within the frame to reinitiate travel towards the dispensing hole.

  • Patent number: 6283335
Abstract: A liquid sprayer incorporating an air pump to force pressurized air into the interior of a receptacle. The air pump is operated, by stroking of a cover. The cover has an opening allowing finger access to the plunger of a spray nozzle in one rotated position of the cover, the cover being held in that position. In another rotated position the cover is released for stroking. A piston on the cover projects into a central tubular portion on the cap with valving sealing allowing air to be drawn past the piston and forced into the receptacle. The spray nozzle is offset from the tubular portion and the plunger is accessible through the cover without removing the same.
