Abstract: Methods and systems for background uploading of media files are presented. Background uploading improves efficiency and user-experience in creating media-based projects online. In one embodiment, a user selects original media files at a user-device for an upload. The user-device at first resizes the original files to resized files and uploads them to a server along with meta-data, and at second the original files start uploading in the background computer process. The user is provided the resized images to create a project. The server converts each resized media file into compressed media files, and provides the compressed files to the user to continue or finish building the project, during which the user-device renders to the user an illusionary impression of a completed upload of the original files when the original files are still uploading. Finally, the user-device completes the upload of the original files to the server.

Abstract: Content may be displayed on a touch-screen display of a device as part of a graphical interface in which the content is divided into categories or sections, and each category/section is associated with a graphical tab. The device may detect a selection of one of the graphic tabs based on a touch gesture received by the touch-screen display and display, on the touch-screen display, content items corresponding to the subset of content items for the selected tab.

Abstract: A distributed system and methods for web-based multimedia content including a global media hub (GMH) server computer (500) and a multiplicity of remote media asset node (MAN) server computers (510, 520, 530, 540, 550) and client computer terminals (515, 525, 535, 536, 537, 545, 555), with the client or customer computers being constructed and configured for network-based coupling to at least one of the MAN server computers for editing a browse copy of the MMC stored at the MAN. The GMH server computer includes processing component, memory for storage of all the metadata, and includes software operable thereon for orchestrating the processes that act on the MMC and metadata, including metadata storage, tracking, management and enforcement of rights and restrictions associated with the MMC stored at the MANs and coupled to the metadata stored at the GMH.

Abstract: A method and a device for processing network element object information in a three-dimensional (3D) topology view are provided. The method includes: in response to a user's operation of selecting a first network element object in the 3D topology view displayed in a window, sending a first instruction to a back-end server; receiving position coordinates and size information of the first network element object from the back-end server; and adjusting position coordinates of the first network element object in the window according to a size of the window and the position coordinates of the first network element object, multiplying the size information of the first network element object by a preset zoom factor to zoom the first network element object, and redisplaying the zoomed first network element object at the adjusted position coordinates in the window. Thus the user can identify the network element object quickly in the window.

Abstract: A presentation control system and method are provided, in which a first terminal is connected to a second terminal to control displaying of a presentation file stored in the second terminal. The first terminal controls execution of the presentation file in the second terminal, controls execution of switching between slide pages included in the presentation file in the second terminal, and controls closing of the presentation file in the second terminal.

Abstract: A universal device type manager (DTM) utility is described herein including a generalized architecture facilitating defining and generating user interfaces associated with a variety of field device types. The utility includes a device description data store interface that provides access to a device description store wherein standard device descriptions (DD files) for a variety of field device types are maintained. No specialized customization is done to the device descriptions by the device or tool vendors. A device type template store interface provides access to a set of device type manager definitions. A device type manager engine renders, on-demand, a device type manager user interface providing user access to parameters and other information for a field device type/instance based upon: (1) a device description and (2) a device type manager definition.

Abstract: A content syndication platform, such as a web content syndication platform, manages, organizes and makes available for consumption content that is acquired from the Internet. In at least some embodiments, the platform can acquire and organize web content, and make such content available for consumption by many different types of applications. These applications may or may not necessarily understand the particular syndication format. An application program interface (API) exposes an object model which allows applications and users to easily accomplish many different tasks such as creating, reading, updating, deleting feeds and the like. Further, in at least some embodiments, a user can subscribe to a particular web feed, be provided with a user interface that contains distinct indicia to identify new feeds, and can efficiently consume or read RSS feeds using both an RSS reader and a web browser.

Abstract: In one example, a method includes receiving, by a server, data representative of a group of gestures detected by the plurality of computing devices and data representative of one or more shortcuts associated with the group of gestures from a plurality of computing devices, wherein each shortcut corresponds to an action performed by at least one of the computing devices. The method may further include aggregating, by the server, the data representative of the gestures and the data representative of the associated shortcuts received from the plurality of computing devices based at least in part on detected similarities between at least one of 1) the group of gestures and 2) the associated shortcuts, and defining, by the server, a gesture-shortcut language based at least in part on the aggregated data.

Abstract: Various embodiments provide an individual with an ability to “sign up” or subscribe to an individual or entity so that they can automatically receive various content published by the individuals or entities. In at least some embodiments, sign up functionality can allow the individual to directly sign up to the person or entity. In yet other embodiments, sign up functionality is provided, at least in part, through the use of one or more services, such as a profile service. Using one or more services can obviate the need for an individual to remember sites, user names or log-in information while, at the same time provide the ability for the individual to synchronize content on their local computing device. In addition, using a profile service can provide an automatic, time-saving way to sign up to individuals or entities.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method of enabling participation by a first client and a second client in a communication session in a multi-dimensional virtual environment, the multi-dimensional virtual environment having first and second avatars respectively associated with the first and second clients and a plurality of objects distinct from the avatars. The method includes receiving from the first client a first annotation associated with a first object of the plurality of objects, transmitting the first annotation to the second client for display at the second client in association with the first object, receiving from the second client a second annotation associated with a second object of the plurality of objects, and transmitting the second annotation to the first client for display at the first client in association with the second object.

Abstract: A very intuitive and simple set of touch-screen input steps along with the processing of those input steps allows a user to appear to gather shareable files with his fingers on one touch-screen apparatus, lift the files from the touch-screen and drop the shareable files on a touch screen of a second, co-located touch-screen apparatus. The touch-screen apparatus initiating the transfer of files is preset with sharing parameters to manage the transfer of files to a local or remote server. One or more touch-screen apparatus accepting the transfer of files is preset with acceptance parameters to manage the transfer of files from the server to the accepting touch-screen apparatus. Once the files are at the server, multiple touch-screen apparatus may be used to request shareable files from the server.

Abstract: An electronic device and a user interface display method thereof are provided. The method organizes a plurality of computer programs and a web browser executable on the electronic device into a virtual book including a plurality of ordinary pages and a list page. Each ordinary page of the virtual book includes a user interface of one of the computer programs or a web page displayed by the web browser. When one of the ordinary pages is displayed as the current page, the user interface or the web page of the current page is accessible to the user of the electronic device. The list page includes a plurality of entries and each of the entries represents one of the ordinary pages.

Abstract: A digital signage content management system is provided that uses existing interfaces such as web interfaces and turns existing commercially available graphics programs such as web based tools or locally run programs such as Microsoft PowerPoint® into a digital signage platform to facilitate developing and managing digital signage applications through the creation of smart objects and intelligent templates that are easy to create and easy to modify to suit different applications. This enables digital signage content to be professionally created without requiring custom programming for each and every stream of new and/or changing content. The smart objects and intelligent templates can also be used to provide content with changing elements in real-time.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for rendering data on a display is provided. A configurable number of dimensions are rendered on the display in a manner that depicts a sequential relationship between the configurable number of dimensions. Each rendered dimension on the display depicts one or more dimension instances. For the rendered dimension having the lowest sequential position in the sequential relationship between the configurable number of dimensions (hereafter the “lowest sequential dimension”), a determination is made as to whether hierarchical data is associated with a particular dimension instance of the lowest sequential dimension, and if so, at least a top level node of a tree of nodes is rendered in association with the particular dimension instance of the lowest sequential dimension on the display. Each node of the tree of nodes may, but need not, comprise a row of data.

Abstract: Enterprise information handling system storage solutions are configured automatically through a graphical user interface that accepts storage device and storage topology selections from an end user to automatically present a graphical image depicting interconnection devices that interface the storage devices. For example, cables with a color selected by the end user are depicted interfacing storage devices with the selected color. In one embodiment, switches are automatically selected and depicted for the storage devices and storage topology selected by the end user.

Abstract: The present invention provides a mechanism to display exactly which parts of a GUI are being updated by non-blocking or asynchronous interaction with a server. It also allows the user to continue to interact with unaffected portions of the display and therefore can be used to provide a superior user experience. Specifically, the present invention displays a busy or progress indicator at the element level of granularity, indicating that the value of the element is currently undergoing a non-blocking or asynchronous update.

Abstract: According to one aspect, a method of previewing multimedia data, including selecting a first graphical representation in association with a multimedia object, displaying the first graphical representation, receiving an input in relation to the first graphical representation, in response to the input, determining whether to change the first graphical representation, and if so then selecting a second graphical representation from the multimedia object in a randomized manner, and displaying the second graphical representation.
