Abstract: An intonation aid for instruments of the violin family is molded from a plastic material as a thin, curved member which fits over the fingerboard. The aid includes a plurality of spaced stops arranged at different acute angles transverse to the strings thereby defining finger positions for the distinct half notes in the scale up to the second octave.
Abstract: A bridge for a stringed instrument, preferably a violin, is disclosed for the purpose of enhancing the volume and tone quality of the instrument. The bridge is made from wood and has an upper generally oval body portion which is supported by the lower inverted V-shaped leg section. The body portion includes four slits through its width, associated with the strings as described in detail in the specification. The leg portion includes two slits aligned to form another inverted V-shape conforming to the shape of the leg portion. The leg portion may also have holes drilled into it for the purpose of removing material to reduce the overall weight of the bridge. Several preferred contours are disclosed for the body portion, one of which may be selected for use with different stringed instruments.
Abstract: An elongated bar is provided and one end of the bar includes structure for removable support from an oscillatable hammer block of a pedal actuating assembly with the other end of the bar projecting outwardly from the block generally radially of its axis of oscillation. The first and second threaded connector structures coact to removably threadedly support the beater ball from the outer terminal end portion of the bar. The beater ball is supported from the bar spaced outwardly of one side thereof to be advanced toward a bass drum and the structure comprising the first and second threaded connector structure is of simple design for ease in manufacture at a low cost and also capable of establishing a firm but releasable connection between the beater ball and the bar.
Abstract: A stringed musical instrument that can be played in a manner similar to a piano or organ and yet sounds like a guitar. It includes a plurality of string sets extending between and across a pair of string bridges that are mounted on and extend transversely of the instrument body, each string set constituting an octave and being disposed laterally adjacent on the body. Each string set includes a single string that is reversely looped and mounted so that each side of the string can be individually tensioned to provide a different pitch. A plurality of manually operated slide bars are provided, each slide bar extending across and slidably engaging the strings of one string set to achieve selectively the key for the associated string set. Finger-actuating elements are operatively connected to a plurality of string strikers mounted for selectively strinking the strings, the finger-actuating elements selectively moving the string strikers into engagement with the strings.
Abstract: A frog for a musical instrument bow for clamping the hair of the bow, such that the hair can be clamped to the frog prior to being cut to the proper length, and with the hair being cut while clamped, either before or after the frog is adjusted lengthwise of the bow for proper tautness of the hair.
Abstract: A first horizontal elongated plate has a longitudinally extending slot therein. Each of a plurality of vertical L shaped members has a bottom horizontal leg disposed at right angles to the slot and an upwardly disposed vertical leg. Each of a like plurality of soft yieldable elements is manually slidable in the slot, each horizontal leg extending through a corresponding element and overlying the top surface of said first plate. A second horizontal plate is secured to the top surface of the first plate, said vertical legs being disposed adjacent one edge of the second plate, said first and second plates having regions spaced apart to permit said members to be slid back and forth along the slot. A third horizontal plate is secured to the first plate remote from said members, adjacent parallel edges of said second and third plates being spaced apart to define an opening parallel to said slot through which said vertical legs extend.
Abstract: A stop tablet mechanism particularly suited for electric organs wherein a plurality of stop tablets lie in closely spaced apart side-by-side relation, the stop tablets being pivotally mounted in a supporting frame by means of locating ears which are maintained in positive pivotal contact with the frame by pairs of wire springs, the wire springs engaging cam defining laterally projecting shoulders on the tablets and performing the additional function of maintaining the tablets in either of two positions of use, the spring elements being configured to provide flexibly mounted detent points which coact with the noses of the cam surfaces to maintain the tablet in its desired position of use.
Abstract: Photographic flash apparatus having a body provided with a cavity for storage of the synchronizing cable, and a mounting bar or rail pivoted to the body in such a way that in one position of the mounting bar, it forms a closure for the cable storage cavity, and other positions of the mounting bar enable the bar to be attached to the camera and enable the body of the flash apparatus to be swung to either one of two positions relative to the mounting bar. Releaseable latch means holds the mounting bar in the selected one of its various positions relative to the flash apparatus.
Abstract: A push-pull transducer system is provided for the reproduction of high fidelity sound to be used with amplifiers or receivers of high quality. The system consists of connecting two loudspeakers of the same size in face-to-face relationship so that where they are joined or bolted to face each other, there is provided an airtight connection. These loudspeakers can be joined directly together using a sealant for the airtight connection, or they can be attached to a mounting board, using sealing rings, if necessary. The loudspeakers are connected in series to produce push-pull air currents for the production of sound.
Abstract: A cup-like device designed to attach to various musical instruments for collecting and retaining saliva emitted from the water key during extended playing of such instruments.
Abstract: A noise suppressor package attachable to air exhaust tubing comprises:A. annular body means defining an axially extending bore to pass said exhaust, said body means including compressible foam segments which project radially inwardly at said bore, said segments being axially elongated and circularly spaced, andB. a tubular cover extending about said body means and having a flexible neck at one end of said body means, said neck being radially constrictable about said exhaust tubing to retain the package to the tubing.
Abstract: A stick for a violin or similar stringed instrument bow is made of a first body of injection molded plastic and a second body of a different strengthening material integrally fixed to the plastic body. The strengthening material or second body is designed for placement in a mold cavity prior to the injection of the plastic material of the first body, the plastic material upon injection engulfing the second body and filling the remaining empty space of the cavity to integrally fix the second body to the plastic body and to form a unitary finished bow stick. The combination of the two bodies provides a finished bow stick having weight, stiffness and other characteristics similar to that of a conventional wooden stick.
Abstract: One or more strap holder assemblies attached to a musical instrument or like device for purposes of attaching opposite ends or predetermined portions of a strap to the instrument or device wherein a base means is fixedly attached and specifically configured to form a socket in which a swivel means is rotatably mounted. A strap connector element having a strap attachment device integrally connected thereto is pivotally mounted within the socket between certain limits which are defined by the ends of an upwardly extending and curvilinear flange which at least partially defines the socket in which the swivel means of the strap connector element and attachment device are mounted.
Abstract: A type carrier of the type that is clipped to a rotary cylindrical holder-carrier device. The type carrier is suitable for selecting chosen type symbols in photocomposing machines wherein several type carriers with different groups of type symbols and/or code information are sequentially distributed around a peripheral cylindrical surface. This arrangement is characterized by the fact that the flat type carrier consists of a thin sheet of elastic material capable of being deformed to a partial cylindrical segment and that the material so used is of the type which is practically insensitive to mechanical effects such as temperature variation. The type carrier is located on the inside peripheral surface of the cylindrical carrier-holding device.

Louvered openings are provided in the downstream baffle radially outward of the closed central portion. The exhaust gases pass through the opening in the upstream baffle, strike the closed central portion of the downstream baffle, are deflected outwardly in the central chamber, and then pass through the louvered openings to the outlet.
Abstract: This disclosure describes an acoustic ear mold insertable into the ear of an individual with impaired hearing and used in conjunction with a hearing aid. Inserted into the molded portion of the ear mold is a central thin-walled metal tube surrounded by a larger thin-walled metal tube, with annular end plates defining a closed resonance chamber. There is an opening through the wall of the central tube forming a path between the space inside the central tube and the annular chamber. Sound energy from the hearing aid is conducted to the ear mold through the central tube where it is reinforced by resonance in the annular chamber before passing on to the ear of the user.
