  • Patent number: 6578745
Abstract: An attachment device for attaching an implement, such as a knife, pager, telephone or the like onto a belt or other garment. The device includes a clip assembly for attachment to the belt, and includes a slot having an end portion circular in shape with a radius larger than the width of the slot. A pin fits into the slot only when at least one flat surface on the neck portion of the pin is parallel to one edge of the slot. The pin is allowed to rotate via the circular shape and the pin having a stem diameter corresponding the circular shape. This provides a locking mechanism where the narrower width of the slot prevents the pin from exiting the slot unless the instrument is turned a specific angle.

  • Patent number: 6575628
Abstract: The closure device includes interlocking fastening strips (130, 131) and a slider (132) slidably disposed on the fastening strips for facilitating the occlusion and deocclusion of the fastening strips (130, 131) when moved towards first and second ends thereof. The slider (132) is provided with a separator (172) for driving fastening strips horizontally outward at different rates. The separator (172) initially drives the fastening strips (130, 131) outward at the same rate and then continues to drive one strip outward while holding the other substantially stationary to facilitate deocclusion of the fastening strips. The fastening strips (130, 131) include guide rails (139, 143). The guide rails (139, 143) are disposed between upper and lower sets of interlocking closure portions. The slider (132) includes guide tracks (221, 222) which engage the guide rails (139, 143) on the fastening strips.

  • Patent number: 6568575
Abstract: A harness with detachable and interchangeable pouches comprises two torso straps extending downwardly and outwardly from a central coupler assembly, two shoulder straps, and two belly straps. The harness is adjustable to fit nearly any body size. The pouches are attached to the harness with quick-releasing retaining clips and to each other by the belly straps. Each pouch includes front and rear panels that are formed using either a right-side template or a left-side template and is interchangeable with any other pouch designed using the same template. The interchangeability allows the wearer to install pouches that are best suited for a particular activity. Each pouch is designed such that, when worn, it hangs at an angle which causes its top to slant downwardly toward the middle of the wearer's torso, thereby increasing the accessibility of the pouch contents.

  • Patent number: 6561696
Abstract: A plastic draw tape bag includes a non-destructive hem seal which runs along the width of the bag to secure the draw tape. The seal is created by bonding two layers of film by using an adhesive, a hot seal, or a coextruded film. When stressed by adequate forces, the seal will partially open without tearing the film. However, it will open only to the extent that the load exceeds the seal strength. Once the film absorbs the load and the stress is relieved, the seal will stop opening and the remaining portion of the seal will remain intact. Thus, the stress concentration is dissipated without tearing the film at or near the seal. As a result, the bag will fail only when the forces on the bag exceed the load bearing limit of the film.

  • Patent number: 6557750
Abstract: A direct mail package is provided. The package includes a transparent cylindrical tube with two press-fitted end caps. An enclosure certificate is folded along orthogonal fold lines to provide four plies. As folded, the length of the enclosure is substantially equal to the length of the tube and the height of the folded enclosure is greater than the diameter of the tube but less than the inside circumference of the tube. When the folded certificate is deformed to fit inside the tube, it conforms substantially to the inside curvature of the transparent tube. The exposed convex quadrant contains postal information visible through the transparent tube. The arc of the plane thus formed frames a gap between its opposite lineal edges. This gap frames a window allowing display of a promotional token inside the tube.
