  • Patent number: 9929915
Abstract: Embodiments relate generally to network hardware, network software and methods for network management and testing. In some embodiments, state information (e.g., configuration data, forwarding states, IP tables, rules, network topology information, etc.) can be received from devices in a network. The state information can be parsed and used to generate a network model, which describes how data is processed by the network. Using the model, possible flow paths of data through the network can be identified and used to analyze the network and identify network behavior, such as types of traffic, frequency of rule matches, what kind of transformation occurs as traffic flows through the network, and where the traffic gets dropped, etc. Policies can be verified against the network model to ensure compliance, and in the event of non-compliance, a report or interface can indicate the cause and/or allow a user to explore specific details about the cause.

  • Patent number: 9918250
Abstract: This application discloses a data communication method implemented at an electronic device. The electronic device obtains a sequence of data packets. Each data packet complies with a first data format corresponding to a network access protocol and comprises a respective header that further includes a data length field for specifying a length of the respective data packet. Data are then assigned to the data length fields of the sequence of data packets according to a second data format. The electronic device encrypts the sequence of data packets including the assigned data. The encrypted data packets are then sent to a receiver device that is communicatively coupled to the electronic device via a wireless network. The receiver device is configured to retrieve the assigned data from the data length fields of the data packets according to the first and second data formats and perform operations in accordance with the retrieved data.

  • Patent number: 9853881
Abstract: In one embodiment, an autonomous system border router (ASBR) advertises a same forwarding label for received advertised routes of a merging context that were advertised with a same forwarding label for the ASBR to use when sending corresponding packets. An ASBR receives via a routing protocol from a particular router in the same autonomous system, a plurality of same-labeled received routes advertised with a same first forwarding label within a merging context. In response to each of the plurality of same-labeled received routes having the same first forwarding label to use to forward packets to the particular router and being in the same merging context, the ASBR determines a merged forwarding label and advertises to a peer ASBR in another autonomous system (AS) each of the plurality of same-labeled received routes with the merged forwarding label for the peer ASBR to use to forward packets to the ASBR.
