  • Patent number: 10168413
Abstract: A near field communication (NFC) mobile device may obtain location information from a NFC terminal device that is communicating with the NFC mobile device. A data transfer link may be established between the NFC mobile device and a mobile telecommunication network. The mobile telecommunication network may prompt the NFC mobile device to obtain location information from the NFC terminal device. The mobile telecommunication network may then receive the location information from the NFC mobile device via the data transfer link, and may subsequently determine a location of the NFC mobile device using the location information.

  • Patent number: 10154150
Abstract: A device determines a connection status of a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) communication interface and a wireless Local Area Network (LAN) communication interface, and stores the connection status in a queue. The device waits, subsequent to storing the connection status, for expiration of a time delay; and retrieves, subsequent to the expiration of the time delay, the connection status or another connection status from the queue. The device sends, based on the retrieved connection status or the other connection status, a service validation request to a server associated with the PLMN, and receives from the server, in response to the service validation request, a validation response that authorizes service delivery to the device via a PLMN.

  • Patent number: 10033852
Abstract: A device is configured to receive a request to use a sensor of a user device. The device determines a sensitivity area associated with the sensor. The sensitivity area indicates an area the sensor is capable of sensing. The device identifies a restricted area in the sensitivity area. The restricted area corresponds to an area from which the user device is limited from use. The user device identifies a restriction associated with the restricted area, generates a response to the request based on the restriction, and provides the response. The response causes the user device to limit use of the sensor, recording of data captured by the sensor, or access to data recorded by the user device even when the user device is located outside of the restricted area.

  • Patent number: 9998585
Abstract: A telephone call may be established with a mobile communications device in response to a user dialing an abbreviated dialing code. Content provided external to the mobile communications device associated with the abbreviated dialing code may be identified. Thereafter, a message may be sent to the mobile communications device including a pointer to information complementary to the identified content, wherein the pointer when activated at the mobile communications device, determines one more operational parameters associated with the mobile communications device and causes data associated with the identified content to be transmitted to the mobile communications device in a format compatible with the determined one or more operational parameters. Related methods, apparatuses, computer-program products, and systems are also described.

  • Patent number: 9998867
Abstract: A radio frequency (RF) beacon deployed in an indoor or outdoor environment broadcasts an RF signal that can be received by a client device operating in the environment. Based on information provided by the beacon and client device sensor data, content (e.g., a software application) locally relevant to the environment is recommended to a user of the client device. The recommended content can be manually or automatically downloaded and installed on the client device so that it can be used in the environment. In some implementations, sensor data is used to indicate whether the user is interested in receiving the recommendation and is capable of receiving the recommendation.

  • Patent number: 9980190
Abstract: Because the current RRC: ACTIVE SET UPDATE message presently used in soft handover does not contain HS-DSCH related information, which could be utilized for a Serving HS-DSCH cell change, a separate Radio Bearer Control procedure is needed between the UE (10) and the RNC (20) for carrying out the Serving HS-DSCH cell change. Should HS-DSCH related information—applicable to Serving HS-DSCH cell change—be added to the RRC: ACTIVE SET UPDATE message (32), an unnecessary Radio Bearer Control procedure is avoided, and the drawbacks of the current method are overcome.

  • Patent number: 9924042
Abstract: Videomail and/or voicemail methods for mobile devices and systems are provided. A communication session request is received from a source device for communication with a destination device. Responsive to the request, it is determined whether the requested session will be established with the destination device. When the requested session will not be established with the destination device, the source device is caused to present a message request to a source device user. Responsive to the message request, a message generated by the source device user is received which includes at least one of video or audio information. A file transfer (FT) message is generated from the received message. The FT message is temporarily stored on a messaging server, and is sent to the destination device via the messaging server, without maintaining a stored copy of the FT message on the messaging server.

  • Patent number: 9860831
Abstract: The present invention provides a terminal and method for an idle handoff based on a High Rate Packet Data (HRPD) system. The method includes, when the terminal switches from the HRPD system to a non-HRPD radio access technology system, an HRPD protocol stack of the terminal migrating from a non-tunnel state to a tunnel state. When the terminal is in a handoff area, and performs the idle handoff from the HRPD system to the non-HRPD radio access technology system, the terminal after the handoff is in the tunnel state, and the HRPD session information of the terminal is reserved. Thus, when the terminal switches back to the HRPD system, it is not necessary to perform the HRPD session negotiation again, thereby effectively avoiding the waste of air interface resources and system processing capabilities, and improving efficiency of interconnection and intercommunication between the HRPD system and other radio access technology system.

  • Patent number: 9801096
Abstract: Generic service request signalling is defined where a multimode terminal is allowed to request any service that it supports in any of the modes (e.g., access technology like GERAN/UTRAN/CDMA2000/BlueTooth/WLAN/ . . . ) supported by the terminal. The network may then decide to move the terminal to other system if possible and necessary in order to establish the service. Mostly existing terminal capability indication for each system mode is used.
