  • Patent number: 8027304
Abstract: Handoffs must be fast for wireless mobile nodes without sacrificing the security between a mobile node and wireless access points in an access network. A secure session keys context approach is shown having all the good features, like mobility and security optimization, of the currently existing proposals of key-request, pre-authentication, and pre-distribution but also providing improved scalability for the access network and for the mobile node. The new approach is compared to the existing proposals including memory requirements and especially how to reduce memory usage using a “just-in-time” transfer of security information between access points and a mobile node during a handover.

  • Patent number: 8014782
Abstract: The present invention relates to improvements for a fast setup of physical communication channels in a CDMA-based communication system. A Node B of a telecommunication network is permitted to manage and assign a certain share of the downlink transmission resources of a radio network controller without inquiry of said radio network controller. On reception of a resource request message from a user equipment, the node B derives and specifies a certain amount of said resources that can be allocated to the user equipment. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention said resources are only assigned temporarily until the ordinary RL setup procedure, which involves the RNC, has been successfully finished.

  • Patent number: 7962182
Abstract: A technique for adjusting or modifying content delivery to devices is provided, thereby offering a degree of power consumption control in such devices. The device can determine a need to modify power consumption, either in response to an input or via detection of an unfavorable power supply condition. In response, the device sends a request to an infrastructure for at least one reduced rate data stream. Because the at least one reduced rate data stream requires less processing power when undergoing decoding operations, the device subsequently consumes less power. In one embodiment of the present invention, the determination of the unfavorable power supply condition may be based on a configurable power condition profile. Furthermore, subsequent to receiving the at least one reduced rate data stream, the device may provide a request to the infrastructure for at least one increased rate data stream.

  • Patent number: 7852806
Abstract: A method of acquiring information on a resource region for transmitting PHICH and a method of receiving PDCCH using the same are disclosed. The resource region for transmitting the PHICH can be specified by first information corresponding to the per-subframe PHICH number and second information corresponding to a duration of the PHICH within the subframe. The first information can be specified into a form resulting from multiplying a predetermined basic number by a specific constant. And, the specific constant can be transmitted via PBCH. Moreover, the second information can be acquired from the PBCH as well.

  • Patent number: 7710917
Abstract: A mobile communication system uses efficiently a radio band of a previously-connected base station, when a mobile terminal that executes multicast communication moves among radio base stations. The mobile communication system includes a layer-2 switch. Upon switching from one radio base station over to the other radio base station, the mobile terminal transmits a path formation request related to a multicast group via the connected radio base station. The path formation request reaches the wired port of the one radio base station through the layer-2 switch. Here, “leave” of the mobile terminal from the control of the one radio base station is detected, and the delivery of multicast is halted. The other radio base station, on the other hand, starts delivering the multicast.

  • Patent number: 5833376
Abstract: A method of activating a binary controllable element of a thermal head in correspondence with an N-bit data value representing a density value D by converting a digital signal representative of said N-bit value into a binary signal that, when applied to said transducer under control of a strobe signal, causes said physical value D to be generated. The binary signal is composed so that it is active during a period t.sub.on, wherein t.sub.on is equal to the sum of a number of time steps being selected from at least two different predefined time steps.

  • Patent number: 4850724
Abstract: Control circuit for a dot matrix printing head of the permanent magnetic type or simple electromagnet type, wherein a printing element is subjected to a variable magnetic flux, owing to an energization current and/or to a movable armature movement, which causes an energization current to be established in the printing element for its actuation. The energization current is switched off for the deactivation of the printing element and which thereafter establishes a shorting path letting a current, induced in the printing element by mangetic flux changes due to the movable armature movement, to flow in the printing element, with a damping effect on the armature movement.

  • Patent number: 4844637
Abstract: Several different symbols may be assigned to each key of the keyboard as requested by the operator. All the various symbols of the keys are recorded in a memory where they are organized in a certain number of pre-defined, distinct configurations of the keyboard. The configuration chosen by the operator is recorded in a display memory and displayed by means of a graphic unit on a flat panel, for example a liquid crystal display panel. The key actuated by the operator is identified by a decoding circuit to determine its symbol by means of the display memory and to display it on the flat panel.
