  • Patent number: 5669256
Abstract: A door lock mechanism includes a retainer housing mounted to a doorframe and a chain housing mounted to a door plate. The retainer housing includes a retaining slot defined in a lateral side thereof and a lock core mounted therein. A lock piece is pivotally received in the retaining slot and is releasably engaged with the retaining member. A chain is mounted in the chain housing and includes a fixed first end and a second end to which a slide bolt is securely attached. The slide bolt is releasably, slidably received in the retaining slot of the retainer housing. When in a locked position and when a release button is in its first position, the lock piece is stopped by the retaining member and the slide bolt is retained in the retaining slot and thus allows the door to be opened for a small gap.

  • Patent number: 5669253
Abstract: A locking strap includes an elongated strap with a captured end and a free end. A buckle member is fixedly attached to the captured end of the strap. The buckle member is capable of receiving the free end of the strap therethrough to allow looping of the strap around a first object and a second object. Included is a locking mechanism that is secured within a bottom portion of the buckle member. Also, a buckle lid is coupled to the bottom portion of the buckle member and spaced from the locking mechanism. The lid has a first end with a vertical projection for clamping down onto the strap, when the free end is positioned through the buckle. Lastly, a second end of the lid has a pair of flaps for overlapping the bottom portion of the buckle member. The flaps will cause the second end to be locked within the locking mechanism for securing the strap around the first and second object.

  • Patent number: 5667261
Abstract: A handle operated, heavy duty, toggle type draw latch is mountable on one of two members and is operable to selectively engage and disengage a latch-engageable formation connected to the other of the two members. The latch includes a complexly configured operating handle that is pivotally connected near one end to a mounting base for movement relative to the base between closed and open positions, that provides a hand grip near its opposite end, and that, at locations between its opposite ends pivotally mounts a drawbar for movement between extended and retracted positions, and defines not only a plurality of stops but also a catch-engageable formation. One stop engages the base when the handle is closed. Another stop engages the base when the handle is fully open. Still another stop engages the drawbar when the drawbar is retracted. When the handle is open, the drawbar can be pivoted into and out of extended positions for selectively embracing the latch-engageable formation.

  • Patent number: 5666829
Abstract: A plug lock for locking electric plugs is disclosed. The device comprises a case having a shaft. The shaft has a pair of inverted U-shaped cut portions that pivot outwardly. A lock gear is rotatably disposed within the shaft and engages the cut portions pushing them outwardly. A block cap is slidably disposed on the shaft. In its extended position, the block cap blocks the electric prongs' access to an electric socket. In this position, the lock gear is rotated so that the cut portions extend outwardly, preventing the lowering of the block cap. Lock drive means control rotation of the lock gear.

  • Patent number: 5662364
Abstract: The invention is directed to a latch releasing mechanism for a container having a hinged or removable lid. A latching arm is disposed adjacent the container lid to prevent an opening of the lid, and a cable connects the latching arm to the locking mechanism. The elements of the latching mechanism comprise a slide plate to which the cable is fixed; a spring for urging the slide plate to a latched position, a guide member for guiding the slide plate, and a trigger ball which blocks movement of the slide am in the latched position. When the container is tilted forward by a predetermined angle, the trigger ball becomes dislodged from the latching position to enable movement of the slide plate, and subsequent movement of the latching arm. When the latching arm is moved out of the path of travel for the container lid, the contents of the container may be removed.

  • Patent number: 5660064
Abstract: An improved double-locking mechanism for handcuffs is disclosed. In the preferred embodiments, a standard pawl and multi-piece slide-bolt assembly have been modified to prevent premature sliding of the bolt into its "double-locking" position, and to prevent dislodging of the bolt back into its "non-locking" position. The unique slide bolt, or the nearby lock casing, is angularly offset to create a fulcrum. The bolt also has an underlying tab that is designed to rest in either of two side-by-side locator notches atop a cuff's pawl. One notch firmly locates the bolt in a double-locking position, while the other notch normally keeps it in a non-locking position. To shift the bolt into its double-locking position, an authorized user presses any suitable actuator (e.g., the tiny end of a handcuff key or a ball-point pen end) against an exposed inclined end of the bolt. This pivots the bolt about the fulcrum and against the casing, so that it lifts the tab out of the non-locking locator notch.
