Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes analyzing characteristics of a media program to label parts of the media program with a plurality of labels where parts of the media program that are determined to be substantially similar are labeled with a same label. The method then analyzes different partitionings of a sequence of the labels to determine partitions for the media program based on a weighting function that is configured to weight the different partitionings based on portions created from the partitions in the different partitionings. Then, a partitioning for the media program is outputted based on comparing the different partitionings of the sequence of labels using the weighting function. The outputted partitioning partitions the media program into a set of portions and provides points for insertion of information for a service in the media program.

Abstract: Systems and methods for consolidating workload on one or more computing devices, comprising: generating tenant performance profiles for at least one of a buffer memory size and a buffer warmness; assigning one or more tenants to a database management system (DBMS) instance; configuring the one or more tenants to minimize a total server count needed to host the one or more tenants; and reducing the total server count by adjusting of buffer sizes while satisfying Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements.

Abstract: A media item fingerprint consolidation system is described that merges fingerprints into a consolidated fingerprint. Fingerprints can be generated to compactly represent media items. Fingerprints of common media items can be merged to generate a consolidated fingerprint that compactly represents the common media items. The consolidated fingerprint can replace existing fingerprints.

Abstract: A method is provided that includes receiving from a camera, video depicting a scene having a center bounded by first and second horizontal edges. The scene also includes an identified object of interest (OI) having a region around the identified OI and a motion vector representing a location, and an amount and at least a horizontal direction of movement. The method also includes calculating from the location of the identified OI, a distance of the identified OI from either or both of the horizontal edges of the scene, and in which the first horizontal edge is in the horizontal direction of movement and the second horizontal edge is opposite the horizontal direction of movement. And the method includes causing an increase or decrease in speed of the camera in the horizontal direction of movement based on location of the identified OI relative to the first/second horizontal edges.

Abstract: A framework or infrastructure (extensibility framework/infrastructure) for extending the indexing capabilities of an event processing system. The capabilities of an event processing system may be extended to support indexing schemes, including related data types and operations, which are not natively supported by the event processing system. The extensibility is enabled by one or more plug-in extension components called data cartridges.

Abstract: An optimization-based framework is utilized to extract broad query aspects from query reformulations performed by users in historical user session logs. Objective functions are optimized to yield query aspects. At run-time, the best broad but unspecified query aspects relevant to any user query are presented along with the results of the run time query.

The method is capable of generating a fingerprint which is susceptible to more simply and more efficiently synchronizing first and second data signals together.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for a metasearch infrastructure. The metasearch infrastructure supports one or more of the following: hotel matching, backend support of user queries, frontend support for user queries, a cache layer that groups or organizes cached data in storage based on hotel location, scoring and ranking on the client side, experiments and rankers, duplicate booking prevention, blacklisting hotels, and indexing that utilizes a document-independent data structure to store index values.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for presenting deferred content are presented. In one aspect, a method includes, after presentation of a content item on a first device, receiving an indication from a user to save the content item for re-presentation; storing an identifier associated with the content item with a first identifier associated with the first device; linking identifiers associated with plural devices, browsers, or applications that are accessed by the user; receiving a request for content from a device or application based on access by the user, including receiving either the first identifier or one of the identifiers that is linked to the first identifier; determining candidate content items responsive to the request including determining that the stored identifier is associated with a candidate content item; and providing the content item for re-presentation to the user based on information associated with the request and information associated with the content item.

Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for resolving pairwise links to groups. Embodiments of the invention use an iterative algorithm to transform a collection of pairwise links to groups of records that correspond to the same entity. The algorithm can be stopped after any number of iterations for an increasing accurate approximation result. The algorithm essentially guarantees a correct solution for groups of size up to the number of iterations. This algorithm scales linearly on the size of the record set, with little impact from the number of links.

Abstract: Implementing intelligent agent services includes generating an ontological domain for an individual based upon information elements that represent aspects of detectable behaviors of the individual at a point in time. The detectable behaviors occur within a physical and virtual geography and in relation to time. The services also include creating subdomains of contextually organized collections of the information elements and information elements collected from previously conducted detectable behaviors of the individual. The subdomains include orthogonally related data. The services further include determining a relevance of relationships among the information elements across the subdomains. Relationships determined to be relevant are identified as an interest of the individual. The services also include searching sources of information using the information elements having the relationships determined to be relevant and identifying a solution for satisfying the interest responsive to the searching.

Some implementations include actions of obtaining a token sequence for a resource, wherein each token in the token sequence comprises one or more characters. Abstract: A media player may include a media reader to read media content from a recording medium inserted into the media reader. The media player may also include a media analysis component to identify one or more valid portions of the recording medium containing media content and one or more invalid portions of the recording medium without media content. In one embodiment, the media player includes an archival component to store the media content from the one or more valid portions in a storage medium and a playback component to play back the one or more valid portions of the media content from the storage medium concurrently with the identification of the one or more valid portions by the media analysis component and the storage of the media content by the archival component.

Abstract: A set of trigrams can be generated for each document in a plurality of documents processed by an e-discovery system. Each trigram in the set of trigrams for a given document is a sequence of three terms in the given document. A set of trigrams for each similar document is then determined based on the set of trigrams for the original document. To facilitate identification of the similar documents, a full text index is then generated for the plurality of documents and the set of trigrams for each document are indexed into the full text index, as individual terms. Queries can be generated into the full text index based on trigrams of a document to determine other similar or near-duplicate documents. After a set of potentially similar documents are identified, a separate distance criteria can be applied to evaluate the level of similarity between the two documents in an efficient way.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for using search entity transition probabilities. In some implementations, data identifying entities and transition probabilities between entities is stored in a computer readable medium. Each transition probability represents a strength of a relationship between a pair of entities as they are related in search history data. In some implementations, an increase in popularity for a query is identified and a different query is identified as temporally related to the query. Scoring data for documents responsive to the different query is modified to favor newer documents. In other implementations, data identifying a first session as spam is received, and a spam score is calculated for either a second session of queries or a single query using transition probabilities. The second session (or single query) is identified as spam from the spam score.

The mapping may map the user information of the first user to user information of further users in a social network. The mapping may map of any combination of spatial, temporal, social, and topical data related to the users. A modified representation of received content is generated by the brand engine based on the mapping. The modified representation is transmitted to the user device. The user device displays the modified representation for the first user. The modified representation of the received content may include any combination of filtered and/or sorted content items, recommended content items, and/or modified content items.
