Abstract: Provided is a circuit board based connector with raised projection section, which is formed by applying substrate bonding and formation techniques to make a connector that features a raised projection section. The circuit substrate has an end that is provided with conductive terminals and an opposite end that is provided with flat cable connection terminals for connection with a flat cable. The circuit substrate has a first surface on which the projection section is formed. A shielding layer covers the projection section and a portion of the first surface. The circuit substrate has a second surface on which a second shielding layer is selectively formed. When the circuit substrate is inserted into an insertion space defined in a connection socket with the conductive terminals thereof, the shielding layer and the projection section of the circuit substrate are put into engagement with and thus retained by the insertion space of the connection socket to thereby fix within the connection socket.

  • Patent number: 7990115
Abstract: A high frequency starter-generator system uses an electric machine design that does not employ rotating rectifiers installed on the rotor. The output frequency of such a starter-generator is increased by about 200% as compared with a conventional starter-generator with the same number of poles operating in the same speed range. This design allows significant weight and volume reductions of the electric machine while its reliability is increased. The present invention may find application in any starter-generator application, including more electric architecture-type aircraft designs currently in development.

  • Patent number: 7989973
Abstract: Power generation apparatus includes a wing-shaped blade having opposite sides, opposite ends and leading and trailing edges extending between those ends. A lift differential producing device in the blade produces a lift differential at the opposite sides of the blade and that device is switched so that one blade side or the other produces the greater lift. A blade shaft extends along an axis in the blade that is in close parallel relation to the leading edge of the blade and that shaft is fixed to move with the blade. Supports support the blade shaft so that the blade can be positioned in a fluid stream with the leading edge facing upstream and swing about the axis between first and second extreme positions on opposite sides of a neutral position, the blade shaft oscillating with the blade. A coordinating device coordinates the switching of the lift differential producing device with the swinging of the blade so that the switching occurs at the extreme positions of the blade.

  • Patent number: 7980865
Abstract: A separable electrical connection may be provided with a landside pad on one of two electrical components to be joined. The landside pad may be made up of two parts, including a flat portion and a raised edge formed on the flat portion. In some embodiments, the raised edge may have a closed geometric shape. Then, a socket contact engaging the junction between the flat portion and the raised edge is prevented from sliding off of the landside pad by the raised edge. In addition, dual areas of electrical connection can be established between both the flat portion and raised edge of the landside pad and the correspondingly shaped pair of portions on the socket. This increases the electrical efficiency of the connection and its security.
