Abstract: A compact, head-mountable display device for transmitting an image to a user's eye is provided. The display device includes a support fixture comprising an elongated member configured to allow passage of ambient light across a direction of elongation of the elongated member to a user's eye. A display, such as an LCD, is supported by the support and is operative to provide an image. An eyepiece assembly is supported by the support fixture in proximity to the display to receive the image from the display and to direct the image to the user's eye. The support fixture also defines an illumination path along the elongated member, and the display is located to receive illumination light on the illumination path from a light source.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for fabricating a liquid crystal display panel that has an improved picture quality by preventing stains due to impurities and ionic materials. The method includes the steps of preparing a TFT substrate having a plurality of electrodes; preparing a color filter substrate having a color filter layer, a black matrix layer, and an overcoat layer; forming a groove adjacent an edge of the overcoat layer of the color filter substrate; forming a double sealant at the sides of the groove in the overcoat layer; forming a liquid crystal layer on at least one of the TFT substrate and the color filter substrate; and attaching the TFT substrate to the color filter substrate.
Abstract: Transflective display device provided with an optical waveguide which splits light coming in from aside into two light beams having a mutually opposite circular polarization. Polarization splitting is achieved at the interface of areas in the optical waveguide having a chiral nematic structure.
