Abstract: A high flux and low pressure drop microfiltration (MF) membrane and a method for making the MF membrane. The microfiltration membranes are formed by a method that includes: preparing a nanofibrous structure; and modifying the surface of the nanofibrous structure with a surface modifier. The nanofibrous structure includes an electrospun nanofibrous scaffold or a polysaccharide nanofiber infused nanoscaffold or mixtures thereof. The electrospun nanofibrous scaffold can include polyacrylonitrile (PAN) or polyethersulfone (PES))/polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or mixtures thereof. The surface modifier includes polyethylenimine (PEI) and polyvinyl amine (Lupamin) cross-linked by ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether (EGdGE)/glycidyltrimethylammonium chloride (GTMACl) or poly(1-(1-vinylimidazolium)ethyl-3-vinylimdazolium dibromide (VEVIMIBr).

Abstract: A coating composition for lubrication film is disclosed. The coating composition comprises (A) a high energy beam-curable resin, (B) silicone elastomer fine particles, and (C) a gum-like polysiloxane. The coating composition is capable of forming a lubrication film that suppresses the occurrence of stick-slip phenomenon, has good feel, adheres to a substrate, and has excellent followability (i.e. ability to follow the elastic transformation) to conform to deformation of the substrate.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing cyclophosphazenes PFPE derivatives to be used in the lubrication of magnetic recording media is herein provided. The method comprises: a) a (per)fluoropolyether (PFPE) polyol [PFPE (Ppol)] comprising a fluoropolyoxyalkylene chain (Rf) having two chain ends, each chain end comprising at least one hydroxy group, and b) the corresponding alkoxide of perfluoropolyether (Ppol) [PFPE (Palk)] wherein the equivalent concentration of PFPE (Palk) in PFPE (Ppol) is lower than 30%, preferably ranging from 5% to 15%; 2) contacting mixture (M) with a perhalocyclophosphazene (CPhalo) to provide a mixture (M1) containing an equivalent ratio of PFPE (Palk)/(CPhalo) of at least 1; 3) allowing mixture (M1) to react until complete disappearance of P—Cl groups to provide a mixture (M2); 4) submitting mixture (M2) to hydrolysis to provide a mixture (M3); 5) optionally removing (Ppol) from mixture (M3) to provide a mixture (M4). A method of purifying mixture (M4) is also herein provided.

Abstract: Cross-linked tetrapolymers made up of different diallyl zwitterionic diallyl quaternary ammonium salt monomers, with one of them functioning as a cross-linking monomer. Abstract: A cross-linked terpolymer (BSDF) obtained by polycondensation of bisphenol-S, formaldehyde and 1,6-diammohexane. The terpolymer is highly efficient in eliminating lead ions from aqueous solutions. The adsorption of lead ions on BSDF was studied under different conditions such as: pH, contact time and temperature. The adsorption kinetics fits Lagergren second order kinetic model that are in agreement with the low surface area as a chemisorption process. Applying BSDF on non-spiked and spiked real wastewater samples under optimum conditions revealed the high efficiency of BSDF in removing toxic metal ions.
