  • Patent number: 9986513
Abstract: A wireless access point dynamically controls Device-to-Device (D2D) transmission power. The wireless access point exchanges wireless communications with a plurality of User Equipment (UEs) comprising Device-to-Base Station (D2BS) UEs and D2D UEs, determines geographical locations for each of the D2BS UEs and the D2D UEs, and processes the geographical locations for each of the D2BS UEs and the D2D UEs with a neighbor distance threshold to identify which of the D2BS UEs neighbors the D2D UEs and which of the D2BS UEs do not neighbor the D2D UEs. The wireless access point monitors a Radio Frequency (RF) interference for the neighbor D2BS UEs and the non-neighbor D2BS UEs, determines that a difference between the RF interference of the neighbor UEs and the non-neighbor D2BS UEs is above an RF interference threshold, and transmits an instruction to the D2D UEs neighboring the neighbor D2BS UEs to decrease a transmission power amount.

  • Patent number: 9977705
Abstract: According to an embodiment, a wireless communication device, which complies with plural communication methods, includes a storing circuit and a received data selection determining circuit. The storing circuit sequentially stores a first received data until the first received data reaches a predetermined data size. When it is assumed that a radio signal complies to a second communication method, a first period is longer than a second period. The first period is a period from a first time when a reception of the radio signal is started to a second time when the first received data with the data size is stored. The second period is a period from the first time to a time when a second reception start signal is detected. The received data selection determining circuit determines a selection of the first received data, when the second reception start signal is not detected at the second time.

  • Patent number: 9948363
Abstract: A wireless communication system and method that includes configurable Carrier Aggregation (CA) and/or Multiple-input Multiple-output (MIMO) operational modes. In CA, multiple carriers (i.e., channel bundling) are aggregated and jointly used for transmission to/from a single terminal. Downlink inter-band carrier aggregation increases the downlink data rates by routing two signals, received in different frequency bands, simultaneously to two active receivers in the RF transceiver. MIMO utilizes two additional receivers as diversity paths and the frequency generation can be shared between main and diversity path for each carriers.

  • Patent number: 9929763
Abstract: Systems and methods for addressing an inadvertent decrease in transmission energy/power due to triggering a proximity sensor by a cover disposed on a computing device. In an embodiment, a cover sensor may be incorporated into the device. The cover sensor may be used to detect the presence of a cover on the device, as well as whether the cover is in an open or closed position. The output of the cover sensor may then be used to adjust a trigger/proximity threshold of the proximity sensor to account for the presence and position of the cover on the device. In this manner the device may avoid unnecessary power backoff caused by proximity of the cover, rather than proximity of the user. This improves the over the air (OTA) performance of the device, as well as the user experience.
