  • Patent number: 7912422
Abstract: Methods and systems for demodulation of open-loop GPS radio occultation signals are provided. An occulted GPS radio signal where the atmosphere-induced modulation on the phase is up to 180 degrees may be recorded by a radio occultation receiver. The radio signal may be concurrently received by a second receiver where the atmosphere-induced phase modulation is below 90 degrees and where the Navigation Data Message (NDM) bit sequence can be readily extracted. The extracted NDM bit sequence may be used to demodulate the occulted GPS radio signal and a 4-quadrant phase extractor may then be used to determine the phase and amplitude of the radio occultation signal. The phase and amplitude modulations after removal of NDM may be used for inversion, e.g., retrieval of the atmospheric parameters such as the bending angle, refractivity and deriving of the meteorological parameters.

  • Patent number: 7907918
Abstract: A participant list display method is provided in which, when referring to status and details of a participant with many utterances, it is possible to reduce effort required in page turning or scrolling operations. In step S1 a mobile telephone performs utterance processing for a participant in PTT communication, to perform PTT starting processing; in step S2, a variable is acquired in working memory for counting number of utterances for each participant; and in step S3 a state of waiting to obtain a right to speak is entered. In the mobile telephone, from the state of waiting to obtain the right to speak, when a party who wishes to speak obtains the right to speak in step S4, a count of number of utterances for the participant that is stored in the working memory is incremented in step S5. The mobile telephone refers to the number of utterances for each participant stored in the working memory, and sorts the list of participants displayed on the display unit, in order of number of utterances.

  • Patent number: 7899482
Abstract: A T-SIR generation unit (106a) generates, on the basis of an actual reception quality (205) in a mobile communication terminal, a target value T-SIR to be used to control transmission power of a base station from the mobile communication terminal. When the mobile communication terminal exists in the service area of a predetermined specific communication carrier, a T-SIR correction unit (106b) adds a correction value K to the T-SIR generated by the T-SIR generation unit (106a). Even when a reception SIR abruptly deteriorates in a communication carrier with a strong reception field and a low BLER, it does not drop below the SIR limit value of the mobile communication terminal. Hence, the terminal can receive the signal from the base station and continue a service such as speech communication. When a long-term BLER measurement result is used instead of a BER, stable transmission power control can be done normally.

  • Patent number: 7894397
Abstract: The present invention is directed to interrupting use of a frequency layer convergence scheme that favors selection of a cell on a preferred frequency of a joined point-to-multipoint service. Specifically, a mobile terminal that has joined a point-to-multipoint service having a preferred frequency uses a frequency layer convergence scheme for selecting a cell. The frequency layer convergence scheme favors the selection of a cell on the preferred frequency layer. However, use of the frequency layer convergence scheme is interrupted upon an occurrence of a trigger.

  • Patent number: 7890049
Abstract: Apparatus and method for performing Automatic Retransmission reQuest (ARQ) in a wireless relay communication system are provided, which include performing ARQ with the base station (BS), transmitting data successfully received from the BS to mobile station (MS), and retransmitting corresponding data to the MS when a retransmission indication message is received from the BS. Since the relay station (RS) relays only the errorless data to the receiver, the reliability of the data received at the receiver can be enhanced. The load on the RS can be reduced because the transmitter controls the ARQ.

Abstract: A repeater device may be utilized to enable forwarding extreme high frequency (EHF) communication between EHF-enabled wireless devices. The repeater device may utilize polarization isolation to prevent and/or reduce interference between received and transmitted EHF RF signals in the repeater device. The repeater device may utilize plurality of polarization antenna arrays for reception and transmission of EHF RF signals to facilitate polarization isolation between received and transmitted EHF RF signals. Alternatively, the repeater device may utilize a single polarization antenna array, with switching elements, to facilitate polarization isolation between received and transmitted EHF RF signals. The repeater device may utilize control connections to enable communicating with the EHF-enabled wireless devices to facilitate performing polarization isolation at the repeater device. Non-EHF interfaces, for example Bluetooth, may be utilized to establish the control connections.
