  • Patent number: 10694525
Abstract: A system described herein may provide a technique for performing carrier aggregation in a wireless telecommunications network in a manner that accounts for (a) diverse licenses for different carriers across different regions, (b) network considerations in minimizing the number of times carrier aggregation is performed, and (c) user equipment (“UE”) considerations in maximizing battery life by utilizing only the carriers that are necessary to utilize. A smallest carrier (or group of carriers) may be identified as a default carriers, and other carriers or groups of carriers may be ranked in descending order, according to size. The ranked list may be iteratively used when performing carrier aggregation, in which the largest available carrier (or group of carriers) from the list may be used for carrier aggregation.

  • Patent number: 10659919
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include methods and systems for the automated commissioning of a network of electronic devices. The locations of large systems of installed electronic devices equipped with wireless communication modules, such as luminaires, light switches, and occupancy sensors, can be rapidly determined by using inter-device distance measurements to calculate the location coordinates of the devices. Increased confidence in the calculated location coordinates can be achieved by comparing the calculated values to an installation plan and assigning the IDs of the specific devices to the location coordinates in the installation plan.

  • Patent number: 10623889
Abstract: The technology disclosed adjusts the geospatial coordinates of places-of-interest located inside a building structure for accuracy and defines a block for each place-of-interest within the perimeter of the building structure. The building structure may host a single place-of-interest or multiple places-of-interest. The technology disclosed outlines a contour of the building structure based on geospatial coordinates of the perimeter points of the building structure, identifies contained places-of-interest within the contour, divides the contour into pieces, calculating splines for each of the pieces, and partitions the pieces into non-overlapping blocks by orthogonally projecting block boundaries onto the splines. Each contained places-of-interest within the building structure is attributed to a block.

  • Patent number: 10609576
Abstract: The described features generally relate to determining dynamic signal quality criteria for an installation of satellite terminals for communications in a satellite communications system. In particular, the signal quality criteria for an installation may be based on an identified position of the satellite terminal to be installed, and in some examples based on the positions and signal characteristics of neighboring satellite terminals that have already been installed. In some examples, a signal quality map may be generated for a service beam coverage area, based on predetermined transmission characteristics and/or measured transmissions from a number of satellite terminals served by a communications satellite. The generated signal quality map may then be used to determine a signal quality threshold for the installation of a satellite terminal being installed for communications in a satellite communications system.

  • Patent number: 10588013
Abstract: A user device may be authorized to access a telecommunications network, such as a cellular network, after completing a boot process that includes a device activation phase and a network activation phase. An application resident on the user device initiates, in the device activation phase, a device eligibility check over a secondary communication network such as a WLAN. Device eligibility may be determined by whether the user device was legitimately sold. If the user device fails the eligibility check, the boot process is stopped, rendering the user device inactive. If the user device passes the eligibility check, the application initiates the network activation phase in which the user device is checked against a blacklist. If the user device is blacklisted, the boot process is shut down. If the user device is not blacklisted, the boot process completes normally.

  • Patent number: 10582348
Abstract: Disclosed are various examples for message-based management service enrollment. In one example, message data is received. The message data includes a device identifier of a client device, and a communication identifier of the client device. An enterprise is identified based on data that maps the enterprise to the network endpoint, and/or the message data. An account is created in association with the particular enterprise. A username for the account is generated using the device identifier and the communication identifier. A message is transmitted to the client device using its communication identifier. The message includes enrollment data that enables an enrollment of the client device in association with the account.

  • Patent number: 10568130
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may perform a random access procedure to synchronize with a network for uplink and/or downlink communication. The UE may transmit a first type of random access transmission that includes transmitting a preamble or a second type of random access transmission that includes transmitting a preamble and a random access message. The second type may result in reduced delay but may have lesser SNR tolerance than the first type. In some aspects, the UE may determine whether to transmit the first type or the second type, and may transmit the first type or the second type in a random access channel portion of a slot. The random access channel portion of the slot may be occupied by portions of either the first type of random access transmission or the second type of random access transmission, thereby enabling flexible utilization of multiple types of random access procedure.
