  • Patent number: 7388814
Abstract: The present invention provides a time indicator and method of use for determining and visually displaying the passage of a predetermined period of time. The time indicator of the present invention comprises a top portion and a bottom portion. The top portion is a multi-layer segment comprising a dye support layer coated with a masking layer, which containing a viewing window therethrough, and a non-curing ink or dye permeable polymer layer containing a migrating agent. The bottom portion is a multi-layer segment comprising a base support layer and a migrating ink or dye printed on the top surface of the base segment. The time indicator apparatus further comprises a removable impervious film or middle layer, which can be removed allowing the top and bottom portions to come into contact with one another, thereby activating the time indicator. The time indicator of the present invention allows one to follow the uniform directional visual dye migration through the viewing window.

  • Patent number: 7379304
Abstract: An insert panel assembly for the IDU cards at the hub of a point-to-multipoint millimeter wave wireless communication system. Generic cards with terminations for the selective connection of remote transceivers are provided with an apertured faceplate over which an insert panel may be placed to selectively block access to the card terminations. In one embodiment, the insert carries adaptors and another embodiment the connector on the conductor from the transceiver is configured to attach to the faceplate. In both embodiments the weight of the connector and conductor is supported by the chassis and not by the card. The connector is angled downwardly to avoid stress on the conductor and reduce the likelihood of kinking.

  • Patent number: 7379395
Abstract: A time measurement system that uses two signals generated by direct digital synthesis. The generated signals have the same frequency but different phase. One signal is used to identify the start of the measurement interval and the other signal is used to identify a measurement window in which a signal indicating the end of the measured interval might be detected. The time measurement system is used as part of a time domain reflectometry (TDR) system. An incident pulse is synchronized to the first signal and launched down on a line. In the measurement window, the signal on the line is compared to a threshold value to determine whether the pulse has been reflected and traveled back to the source. By iteratively repeating the measurement with a different measurement window, the time of arrival of the reflected pulse can be determined. This time domain reflectometry approach is incorporated into automatic test equipment for testing semiconductor devices and is used to calibrate the test equipment.

  • Patent number: 7376053
Abstract: The present invention proposes improving the yield of a microgenerator (1) used for operating a timepiece. Such a microgenerator operates on the basis of the phenomenon of electromagnetic induction, it is thus desirable to limit as far as possible the presence of magnetic masses in proximity to said generator. Research undertaken has shown that the electrically conductive paths (9), and even their single protective layer, arranged in proximity to the microgenerator brake it, when they are formed of a magnetic material, and in particular a ferromagnetic material. Thus, the selection of exclusively non-magnetic materials is proposed for manufacturing the conductive paths.

  • Patent number: 7336565
Abstract: An educational alarm clock radio is provided that speaks a new word each day when the alarm goes off, the words each being stored in a memory cartridge as an individual increments of information in a sequential set of increments. When the alarm goes off, the word of the day, the definition of that word of the day and its use in a sentence are spoken via the audio portion of the device as the next information increment in the sequence. The word will also be displayed on a screen so the user can see the correct spelling of the word. The word may be replayed at any time during the day by activating a device control. Prior words may be displayed by energizing a reverse control. The entire sequence of previously played words, moreover, can be played in serial fashion through further activation of control or combination of controls. The device also serves as an alarm clock radio with alarm types such as wake by buzzer or radio as well as the wake by words function.

  • Patent number: 7315489
Abstract: A method is provided for accurate time measurement. Time is first measured with a first oscillator. At designated intervals, a second oscillator is activated for a period of time based on the first oscillator. The second oscillator is more accurate than the first oscillator. Pulses are then counted from the second oscillator during the period of time. The second oscillator is then turned off after the period of time. The count from the second oscillator is used as a new measurement of the period of time of the first oscillator.
