Abstract: An image forming system which, even when overprinting is made on a sheet processed by an external device, prevents misregistration of the image formed on the sheet, and a control method for the image forming system, and a non-transitory computer-readable recording medium storing a program. The image forming system includes an image forming device, an image reader, an arithmetic processor, and a controller. The arithmetic processor calculates the information on shrinkage which occurs in the sheet when the sheet is subjected to a treatment process by the external device, as external shrinkage information. The controller calculates an image correction value according to the external shrinkage information. The image forming device forms an image according to the image correction value when forming the image on the processed sheet.

Abstract: Techniques to improve storage of information, including encoding of multimedia data on physical pages. Some techniques include logic configured to encode multimedia data pursuant to a colorspace scheme and on a piece of paper. The logic may further be configured to generate one or more colorspaces associated with the multimedia data, perform colorspace conversions based on the generated colorspaces, and encode the multimedia data pursuant to the colorspace conversions. The logic may be further configured to apply one or both of an ultraviolet layer and an infrared layer to the physical page, e.g. paper, in order to further enhance security and provide an additional vehicle for storing and encoding data on the physical page, e.g. paper. The logic may further be configured to provide a scanning device with the ability to scan and decode the encoded data one the sheet of paper. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: Provided is an image forming system capable of specifying an image forming apparatus to be used with minimum operation without requiring input of special information. A terminal apparatus includes a printer searching unit that transmits a response request to an image forming apparatus from which there is a response to a presence confirmation request; an image forming apparatus includes: a response button generating unit that, after receiving the response request, generates a response button; and a printer information transmitting unit that, by operation of the response button, transmits printer information as a response to the response request; and the printer searching unit of the terminal apparatus causes the image forming apparatus from which there is a response to the response request to be highlighted in a display of a network printer list screen.

Abstract: A method for displaying information includes providing a computing system comprising an input device and a processor in data communication with memory comprising a code generator; inputting user-specific information into the memory for a first user; accessing the code generator to generate a first code; accessing the code generator to generate a customizable indicia for the first user; providing a temporary cosmetic ink (TCI) printer having TCI, and being in communication with the computing system; placing the TCI printer on a first area of the first user; activating the TCI printer to print the first code on the first area; activating the TCI printer to print the customizable indicia on the first user; providing a scanner having a scanning module, and being in communication with the computing system; placing the scanner at the first area of; and activating the scanning module to read and decode the first code.

Abstract: An MFP stores a plurality of different pieces of biometric information of a user and a plurality of secret keys respectively corresponding to the pieces of biometric information in the TPM and registers public keys corresponding to the private keys in a server. When an authentication request is received from the server, the MFP executes a biometric authentication process using the biometric information input from the user and the biometric information registered in the TPM. If authentication is successful in the biometric authentication process, the MFP creates signature data and transmits it to the server. If verification of the signature data using the public key in the server is successful, the MFP performs display related to a shortcut process associates with the biometric information corresponding to the secret key used when the signature data that is a target of the verification is created by an input and output device.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are configured to manage the printing of an electronic document having different page sizes. They include receiving a request from a user to print an electronic document, the electronic document arranged as a set of pages. They also include determining if a page size for a page of the set of pages in the electronic document matches at least one print media size available for printing. They further include providing a message for display to the user, the message including an indication that the page size for the page is not available for printing when it is determined that the page size of the page does not match the at least one print media size. The message also including a menu with a set of user selectable options for completing the print request on the printing device.

Abstract: A printer according to an embodiment includes: a communication unit configured to perform communication based on a first gateway and a second gateway; and a control unit configured to control the communication unit to perform the communication through the first gateway in communication with a first device connected to a mobile communication network and to perform the communication through the second gateway in communication with a second device connected to a LAN. The control unit is configured to control the communication unit such that the communication with the first device and the communication with the second device are performed independently from each other.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus that enables a user to easily grasp setting values associated with a settings history button. Execution of a function selected by a user is controlled using setting values set on a setting screen displayed with initial values of the setting values registered at factory shipment. An identification reference used for identifying a setting value used and different from a corresponding initial value is switched. An instruction for changing the initial values on the setting screen to other initial values than the initial values registered at factory shipment is received. Setting value information indicative of the identified setting value is displayed for a settings history button for calling setting values used for the function. If the initial values on the setting screen are changed to the other initial values, the identification reference is switched to the other initial values.

Abstract: In an image processing system, a controller of an image forming apparatus, when user identification information is entered, causes a communication device to transmit a transmission request for an encryption code to a mobile terminal device at which the user identification information has been set, and, when the communication device receives the encryption code, uses the encryption code to encrypt image data. A controller of the mobile terminal device, when a communication device receives the transmission request for the encryption code, converts a fingerprint of a user detected by a fingerprint sensor into the encryption code, and causes the communication device to transmit the encryption code to the image forming apparatus.

Abstract: Methods and systems for preventing the cropping of faces depicted by digital photographs are provided. To this end, the methods and systems may automatically detect the presence of faces depicted by the digital photographs and generate a facial boundary for the faces. The methods and system may also generate a crop boundary at which the photograph is cropped. In some scenarios, the systems and methods attempt to locate the crop boundary on the digital photograph to prevent omitting a portion of the facial boundary. Additionally or alternatively, users are provided an interface to manually set a location for the crop boundary. The user is warned if the crop boundary omits a portion of the facial boundary. The digital photographs and crop boundaries are sent to a printer to generate a physical print of the digital photographs.

Abstract: The present invention provides an information processing apparatus having a display unit that displays a screen on which a pointing tool corresponding to a function is disposed. The information processing apparatus obtains a display language of the screen and obtains a language of the pointing tool, and in a case where the display language differs from the language, displays, on the display unit, a confirmation screen for confirming with a user whether to execute the function corresponding to the pointing tool in response to an instruction given by the user via the pointing tool.

A snap-notify function for a photograph of at least one printed page of the document is to store at least one photo image and associated photo metadata. The photo metadata is compared with data entries in a printer log to obtain a match to the print metadata. The at least one photo image stored relating to the photo metadata matching the print metadata is retrieved. The at least one photo image is compared to the at least one print image. Responsive to determining the at least one photo image matches the at least one print image to at least a threshold percentage, sent from the printer is a confidential notification for the user identity to pick up the document.
