  • Patent number: 8984121
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system that facilitates the maintenance and execution of a software offering. During operation, the system obtains model data associated with a multidimensional model of the software offering. Next, the system displays the model data to a user as a set of dependency mappings among a set of service components and a set of resources used by the software offering. Finally, the system facilitates management of the software offering through the displayed model data.

  • Patent number: 8972476
Abstract: When evidence is received, a determination is made as to whether the evidence is sufficient to determine whether to block transmission of virtual world data to a client device. If it is determined that the evidence is sufficient, then another determination is made as to whether to block transmission of virtual world data to the client device based on the evidence. If it is determined to block transmission of virtual world data to the client, a data protection and abstraction module is transformed to a first state that blocks transmission of the virtual world data to the client device.

  • Patent number: 8972553
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided that facilitate handling failures in policy rule installation and/or related bearer modification procedures. A set of modified policy rules can be provided to a gateway for enforcement thereof and/or correlation with a bearer of a device. The gateway can attempt to install the modified rules and can utilize a credit control request (CCR)/credit control answer (CCA) exchange to notify of a status of the modified rule installation and/or related bearer modification. A policy charging and rules function (PCRF) can, thus, determine the status based on the CCR/CCA exchange. If the status indicates failure, the PCRF can revert to previous policy rules. In addition, an application function can be notified of the status.

  • Patent number: 8972582
Abstract: A method (and corresponding equipment) for use in reauthentication—after a first, full authentication by a first authentication server (23a)—of a communication session involving the exchange of information between a terminal (21) and a server (24), the method including: a step (11) in which the first authentication server (23a) and other authentication servers (23b) are each assigned a respective unique realm name; and a step (13) in which during authentication between the terminal and the first authentication server (23a), the first authentication server (23a) transmits to the terminal (21) a reauthentication identity including the unique realm name assigned to the first authentication server. Then, later, during reauthentication, to make possible that the reauthentication is performed by the same authentication server (23a) as performed the full authentication—i.e. by the first authentication server (23a)—the reauthentication identity is included in a request for reauthentication.

  • Patent number: 8965988
Abstract: The invention relates providing an event-based connectivity platform that creates and communicates shared pages based on location and other information obtained from devices that automatically provide the location and other information. A system may include a page server that creates an event-centric shared page responsive to a single button press or other indication. Once created, the page server may invite other users to access the shared page. User devices that have access to the shared page, including the user device that cause the shared page to be created and/or other user devices, may automatically provide updates to the page server. The devices may automatically provide the updates at various times without intervention by the user. The automatically provided updates may include location information. Users may also provide other information such as image, audio, and text for updating the event-centric shared page.

  • Patent number: 8959171
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to an apparatus and method for acknowledging a data transfer. The first protocol may generate a request for a data transfer. The second protocol may receive the request for a data transfer from the first protocol. With the request, the second protocol may determine if the request for the data transfer contains a request for acknowledgement of completion of the data transfer. The second protocol may send a request corresponding to the request for data transfer to a third protocol. If the request for data transfer does contain a request for acknowledgement of completion of the data transfer, then the second protocol may set a variable in memory to wait for an event to correspond to the completion of the request and send an acknowledgement to the first protocol upon the occurrence of the event.

  • Patent number: 8954600
Abstract: A system replicates Internet websites on a large number of user computers having browsers. The system includes a gateway platform having a gateway server and a cache. In the broadcast mode, the gateway server periodically or continuously images broadcast data (e.g., popular websites), compresses the website images, and stores the compressed website images in the gateway cache. The gateway server then broadcasts all of the compressed broadcast data to all (millions) of the user computers over a broadcast device (such as a satellite), for subsequent display by the user in the browser. In the unicast mode, the user requests unicast data (e.g., less-popular websites or websites having highly user-customized information) at the browser. The gateway server images that one web page, compresses the unicast data, and transmits the compressed unicast data over the broadcast device substantially in real time to the one requesting user computer.

  • Patent number: 8949411
Abstract: A network address of a computing device is obtained, and an unencrypted request is sent to a resource access manager of a particular network. If both a response is received from the resource access manager and the computing device has a network address within a desired range of network addresses, then a determination is made that the computing device is inside the particular network. Otherwise, a determination is made that the computing device is outside the particular network.

  • Patent number: 8930538
Abstract: A content delivery network has at least a first tier of servers. A content delivery method includes, at a first server in the first tier of servers, obtaining a request from a client for a resource. If the resource is available at the first server or at a peer of the first server, then the resource is served to the client from the first server. Otherwise, it is determined whether the resource is popular, and if the resource is determined to be popular, then the first server obtains the resource and the first server serves the resource to the client. If the resource is determined not to be popular, the client is directed to a second server, not in the first tier of servers, and the second server serves the resource to the client. The second server may be in a second tier of servers or it may be an origin server.
