Abstract: An admission ticket is designed to increase both the betting interest and attendance by the public at a parimutuel event such as a horse race. The ticket includes a pass stub used to gain entry to the parimutuel event and a wagering stub which may be exchanged for a bet at the parimutuel event. Preferably, the pass stub and wagering stub are printed on a single piece of paperboard material and are separated by a perforation line. The wagering stub includes a concealed wager and a concealed means for limiting the use of the wager by a patron at the parimutuel event. The method of the invention includes a step of printing an admission ticket to a parimutuel event with a wager being awarded to a patron and a means for limiting the use of the wager by the patron.

Abstract: An apparatus which adhesively binds a set of sheets by applying a strip having an adhesive on one surface thereof to the spine of the set. The strip is supported on a heated platen which softens the adhesive. The spine of the set of copy sheets is pressed into the adhesive on the strip. The depth of penetration of the spine into the adhesive is controlled so as to form a layer of adhesive between the spine and the strip having a predetermined thickness. As the spine of the set of copy sheets is moved into contact with the adhesive on the strip, it is damped to absorb a substantial portion of the kinetic energy of the set of sheets to reduce the deflection and distortion of the set of sheets.

Abstract: A ski or terrain map for detachable wearing on the arm, comprising flexible, folded band having opposed longitudinal end portions and having ski trails or other indicia of topography or terrain depicted thereon. Attachment means are carried by the band for detachably securing one longitudinal end portion of the band to the other longitudinal end portion of the band, such that the map firmly encircles the user's arm. The attachment means are contained within the perimeter of the map substrate, and, in a preferred embodiment, a loop or other means are provided for holding one end of the substrate substantially in contact with the user's arm as the substrate is circled about the arm. Preferably, Velcro or a similar strip having a multiplicity of interengageable fibers is used as the attachment means.

Abstract: A method for converting the usual report cover or binder into a unit which is conveniently and easily readied for storage in a suspension type filing system. The application discloses both a suspension element for use in putting the method into effect, and a combination unit including a binder in which two such suspension elements are slidingly mounted in the spine of the binder for selective manual movement relative to the spine between a retracted position within the spine and an extended position extending beyond the ends of the spine for engagement with spaced support rails of the type on which the binder will be placed for filing purposes.

Abstract: A record keeping assembly has a binder with locating elements spaced along the length of the outer side edge of a panel and a shingled assembly of overlapping elongated sheets with apertures along the one side thereof through which said locating elements extend. Under the shingled assembly is a flexible peel strip which has one end secured to the panel adjacent the outer side and which extends along the locating elements across the panel and projects outwardly therefrom. This peel strip is gripped by its projecting end and lifted upwardly to peel the portion of the shingled assembly overlying the strip from the locating elements.

Abstract: A fingerprint sensitive pad is disclosed for affixing a fingerprint to a document. The pad includes a base sheet adhesively attached to the document. The base sheet, which may be reflective, has an adhesive-like coating which receives the fingerprint image when a finger is pressed upon it. The pad has a hinged cover, which removably adheres to the adhesive-like coating to protect the fingerprint image.

Abstract: Removal of a window display sticker without partial or entire mutilation or distortion is facilitated in a business form display including a first sheet 30 of label stock having one side 32 coated with pressure sensitive adhesive 34, a second sheet 36 of release liner material having a size and shape corresponding to the first sheet 30 and with a coated surface 38 removably adhered to the adhesive 34 and an opposed surface 42 for receiving variable information to be displayed. Cuts 58, 60, 62, 64 in the sheet 36 near at least two opposed edges 50, 52, 54, 56 are provided so that parts of the sheet 36 between the opposed edges 50, 52, 54, 56 may be removed from adhesion to the first sheet 30 to expose adhesive 34 at at least two opposed edges 50, 52, 54, 56 in flanking relation to the surface 42 and any variable information that may be received thereon.

Abstract: A multilayered document assembly for travel agencies yields a customer's invoice, itinerary and document jacket as well as the agency's file copy by carbonless or carbon means of copying through the assembly. A document pocket is transversely disposed across an end of a lower sheet of the assembly to allow graphic area for printing all output information from common major airline computer program reservation and ticketing systems with no unused areas to result in waste paper to be disposed of by the agency employee. Standard size, relatively narrow paper can be utilized for the assembly sheets at considerable savings of paper expense over wider paper. Printers designed for maximum paper width of ten inches can utilize the assembly.

Abstract: A pair of flexible retainer strips each of which can be held in ring configuration by a head and socket at opposite ends of the strip which interlock to retain a stack of perforated sheets in a file folder. Each retainer strip is slidably mounted in a separate guide channel formed in an anchor element securable to the cover of a file folder. The ends of the strip can be readily uncoupled to enable the insertion in or removal of a sheet at any location in the stack without having to remove any of the remaining sheets of the stack from the retainer strip.

Abstract: A multi-document file folder is disclosed which includes an outer file jacket having front and rear panels and a multi-pocket file folder insert having insert pockets adapted to be positioned within the file jacket. The insert pockets of the insert are of a predetermined depth and are staggered vertically upwardly in a rearward direction to expose the upper edges of the pockets one behind the other. A window within the front panel of the file jacket is provided in alignment with the upper edges of the file folder insert pockets to thus reveal the presence or absence of documents filed within the insert pockets.

Abstract: A passbook is provided that substantially prevents alteration or counterfeiting. The passbook is formed from a plurality of sheets of flexible material that are bound to one another at selected locations thereon by welding to define a substantially integral stub. The free edges of the welded pages are then folded back over the welded stub such that the stub is disposed interiorly. The welded stub is difficult to disassemble and reassemble without providing some indication of tampering. Furthermore, the disposition of the welded stub enables the passbook to be laid flat without creating stresses on the stub that could result in separation or delamination.
