  • Patent number: 9294876
Abstract: Method of generating, displaying, and implementing geo-fence using location determination of mobile devices (MHSDs) within location-based group starts with server receiving geo-fence information and generating geo-fence based on geo-fence information. Server receives location data and proximity information from MHSDs. Location data received from first MHSD includes first MHSD's location. Proximity information received from first MHSD includes identification of MHSDs within proximity sensitivity radius of first MHSD's location. Server forms subgroup of MHSDs based on proximity information from each MHSD. Subgroup include first MHSD and MHSDs that have provided proximity information that identifies first MHSD are being within proximity sensitivity radiuses of the MHSDs, respectively. Server refines the fixed location of the first MHSD, which includes identifying an intersection of the proximity sensor sensitivity of MHSDs that are in subgroup.

  • Patent number: 9265067
Abstract: A device receives a pilot channel from an access network, without connecting to the access network. The pilot channel includes information identifying an actual usage associated with the access network. The device determines whether the actual usage of the access network is greater than a particular usage associated with the access network, and selectively connects to the access network based on whether the actual usage of the access network is greater than the particular usage. The device connects to the access network, to provide data to a core network, when the actual usage of the access network is not greater than the particular usage. The device does not connect to the access network when the actual usage of the access network is greater than the particular usage.

  • Patent number: 9254693
Abstract: If a print medium size is set as a print setting for print target data, a print control apparatus causes a printing unit to print an image with a size corresponding to the print medium size based on the print target data. • Patent number: 9253787
Abstract: A method for mitigating inter-cell interference by a base station in a cellular communication system. The base station determines cells to which same frequency resources are allocated, and which cause interference to each other, and determines a starting time slot, at which resource allocation to each cell starts, as a different time slot for each cell, taking into account a number of the cells and time slots constituting time resources. In response to receiving a call setup request from a terminal, the base station selects a time slot taking into account interference information of each of the time slots, and allocates a resource based on the selected time slot to the terminal.

  • Patent number: 9235359
Abstract: A system that generates risk values for a print service provider. The print service provider may calculate probabilities of an event occurring, calculate the effect that the given event will have on the print service provider, and determine various risks associated with calculations. These risks may then be utilized to determine overall operational strategies for the print service provider when compared to threshold risk levels for the print service provider.

  • Patent number: 9218363
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for maintaining location information in a database. An application running in a client device scans for stationary devices that have a unique identifier. If such a device is found, the location of the device by means of the unique identifier is looked up from a central server comprising a database. If the unique identifier is in the database the physical location of the stationary device could be retrieved. As the stationary device is in the vicinity of the stationary device, the physical location of the user using the stationary device is known. If the unique identifier of the stationary device is not found, the user is asked once to identify its location. The unique identifier and location is then stored in the data structure of the database. Subsequent requests by a client device for the same stationary device will result in a known location.

  • Patent number: 9191790
Abstract: An system and method for converting standard characters or emoticons in electronic messaging service messages to animated characters. The system and method for animating electronic messages is embodied on a mobile electronic communications device configured through executable software to perform the primary steps of identifying convertible characters, associating convertible characters with a corresponding, stored animation, and converting the associated convertible character with the corresponding animation. Text or emoticons in messages sent over electronic messaging services such as SMS and MMS, is converted into animated characters prior to transmission from the sending mobile electronics communications device. The animated message, or message with contains an animated character, is then received and displayed on the receiving mobile electronic communications device through its conventional MMS messaging handling system.

  • Patent number: 9167383
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for timing message notifications to be provided to mobile device users based on their respective geographic locations with respect to a targeted content area. The timing of message notifications may be controlled in order to optimize the chances of delivering targeted content to a mobile device user based on the current geographic location of the user's device relative to a targeted content area. As the particular client application may not be actively executing at a time when the user's device happen to be located within a targeted content area, a general message notification sent to the user's device, which may be displayed at any time, may increase the likelihood that the user will launch the client application when it is not already executing at the device and thereby, allow targeted content to be delivered to the user's mobile device at the appropriate time and location.
