Abstract: Data element filter logic (“hardware accelerator”) in a processor that offloads computation for an in-memory database select/extract operation from a Central Processing Unit (CPU) core in the processor is provided. The Data element filter logic provides a balanced performance across an entire range of widths (number of bits) of data elements in a column-oriented Database Management System.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject technology relate to ways to determine the optimal storage of data structures in a hierarchy of memory types. In some aspects, a process of the technology can include steps for determining a latency cost for each of a plurality of fields in an object, identifying at least one field having a latency cost that exceeds a predetermined threshold, and determining whether to store the at least one field to a first memory device or a second memory device based on the latency cost. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure disclose a method and apparatus for recommending news. A specific embodiment of the method comprises: receiving a voice request for playing news; analyzing the voice request, and determining a target attribute associated with the voice request from a preset user attribute set based on an analysis result; acquiring user attribute information corresponding to the target attribute; and selecting out target news from a to-be-recommended news database for recommendation based on the analysis result of the voice request and the user attribute information corresponding to the target attribute. Such embodiment realizes news recommendation based on voice interaction and is capable of improving the pertinence of news recommendation.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject technology relate to archiving user generated content. A data storage device of a computer system is scanned for media files, and directories of the data storage device containing media files found during the scan are added to an upload directory list. For each directory in the upload directory list, respective identifiers for the media files contained in the directory are determined and sent to a server. Confirmation is received from the server of whether the sent identifiers match identifiers for media files already stored by the server. The media files having identifiers confirmed as not matching identifiers for media files already stored by the server are uploaded.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for modifying user input are presented. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving electronic input from a member of a social networking service, the input comprising a named entity; transmitting a query to a database of entities connected to the social networking service to select a set of entities in the database whose names are within a character edit distance of a spelling of the named entity; identifying a matching entity that is connected to the member at the social networking service and matches an entity in the set of entities; and modifying the input by replacing the spelling of the named entity with a spelling of the matching entity.

Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for supplementing and/or replacing free-entered text with tags, which may be phrases and/or individual words. The tags are then associated with an individual, such as a customer, and the association is stored in a database. At least in part because of the association of the tag with a customer, the tags may be required to be pre-approved. Additionally, a representative that entered the text, and to whom the tags are at least initially displayed, may be given the option of deleting the tag and/or identifying replacement tag(s).

Abstract: In some examples, octree serialization can include non-transitory machine-readable medium storing instructions, the instructions executable by a processing resource to evaluate two or more nodes sequentially in an octree structure until a leaf node is reached, wherein the two or more nodes include at least one non-leaf node, and generate a serialized octree document based on a respective node identifier in a header associated with each node of the two or more nodes.

Abstract: A file server apparatus includes a second file system volume including cache data of a first file system volume stored in a shared file storage apparatus. The file server apparatus determines the operation type indicated by an access request to the first file system volume from a client. When the operation type is directory operation, the file server sends an instruction of directory operation to the shared file storage apparatus, and then transmits a completion response to the client. When the operation type is file operation, the file server apparatus executes a file operation in the second file system volume, transmits a completion response to the client, and then transmits a file operation instruction to the shared file storage apparatus.

Abstract: Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for calculating similarity of life log data, the method including: producing, by a life log data producing unit, a plurality of life log data on a daily basis, in which at least one estimated activity state is indicated for each predetermined time section, by matching a user's position information per time period and a user's motion state information per time period with an estimated activity table in which the user's estimated activity states are defined in advance; converting, by a modified life log data producing unit, the plurality of life logs data into a plurality of modified life log data which is indicated for each merged time section made by merging a preset number of continuous time sections; and calculating, by a similarity calculating unit, life log similarity among the plurality of modified life log data by comparing the plurality of modified life log data for each merged time section.

Abstract: A system for performing data trend analysis is disclosed. The disclosed system categorizes a number of transaction records based on their associated merchant IDs. For each of the merchant ID, the system determines whether the determined number of transaction records exceeds a pre-determined threshold. In response to identifying a merchant ID with the determined number of transaction records that exceeds the pre-determined threshold, the system identifies a location associated with the merchant ID and generates a trending notification indicating a transaction burst. The system then identifies a set of users located in the location that have a transaction history with the merchant ID and sends the trending notification to the set of users.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for improving interactions with and between computers in content searching, hosting and/or providing systems supported by or configured with devices, servers and/or platforms. The disclosed systems and methods provide a novel machine-in-the-loop, image-to-video bootstrapping framework that harnesses a training set built upon an image dataset and a video dataset in order to efficiently produce an accurate training set to be applied to frames of videos. The disclosed systems and methods reduce the amount of time required to build the training dataset, and also provide mechanisms to apply the training dataset to any type of content and for any type of recognition task.

Abstract: The technology described herein optimally allocates the limited computer storage on the end user device to point of interest data most likely to be used by a map application. The offline point of interest data can include first-tier, second-tier, and third-tier data about different points. The offline data can be selected based on overall usage among all people and also specially tailored for individual users interests.

Abstract: Computer-implemented systems and methods are disclosed to interface with one or more storage devices storing a plurality of documents, wherein each of the plurality of documents is associated with one or more tags of one or more predefined hierarchies of tags, wherein the one or more hierarchies of tags include multiple dimensions. In accordance with some embodiments, a method is provided to identify one or more documents from the data storage devices. The method comprises acquiring, via an interface, a selection of one or more tags of the one or more predefined hierarchies of tags. The method further comprises identifying one or more documents from the data storage devices in response to the selection, the identified one or more documents having tags that have a relationship with the selected tags, and providing data corresponding to the identified documents for displaying in the interface.

Abstract: Executable code is generated for processing a data set in an in-memory database system. The executable code is based on program instructions including a predicate associated with a first part of the data set. The first part of the data set is divided into data sections. A data section comprises a number of data elements corresponding to a number of bit values to be allocated into a register at a processor. The register at the processor is associated with performing single instructions on multiple data. At the processor, the data sections are evaluated iteratively to determine bit vectors to be stored iteratively into the SIMD register. Based on the iteratively stored bit vectors at SIMD register at the processor, result data sets are iteratively determined through invoking data from the data set. The result data sets are provided through the processor for further consumption.

Abstract: Management of fuel dispenser media is provided. In general, a fuel dispenser can be in communication with a media library configured to facilitate delivery of media to the fuel dispenser for output therefrom. The media library can be on board the fuel dispenser or can be included in a gateway configured to communicate with the fuel dispenser. The media library is configured to query one or more media sources for media information and to retrieve media information therefrom that is specific to the fuel dispenser. Additionally or alternatively, the media library is configured to query the one or more media sources for updates to the retrieved media information and, if updated, to retrieve the updated media content from the media source(s).

Abstract: Embodiments for combining input data matches in data deduplication of input data by a processor. Matches of input data are calculated using a plurality of independent deduplication processes referencing a plurality of repository data segments for the input data. A combined list of output data matches is calculated by removing those of the input data matches that are fully enclosed within other input data matches; and removing those of the input data matches determined to be smaller than a predetermined threshold for citing. A deduplication operation is performed on the combined list of output data matches. Each pair of the input data matches having an overlap section is processed in an ascending order of a position.

Abstract: A method, system and computer-usable medium are disclosed for computing file system management. A corpus of content is processed to extract metadata associated with folders and files referenced by a directory structure. Natural Language Processing (NLP) operations are then performed on the corpus to generate concept and entity data associated with each folder and file, followed by performing Natural Language (NL) classification operations to generate intent classification data, which in turn is processed to determine ranked, dominant intents for each folder and file. The corpus content, extracted metadata, concept and entity data, and ranked dominant intents are then processed to generate indexed content and term data. Application context data associated with an interaction is collected and processed to determine a user intent, which is then processed with the indexed content and term data to identify a corresponding folder and file, which in turn are provided to the user.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer-readable medium for performing a distributed analytics operation. The distributed analytics operation uses interface technologies to de-couple an actual data storage technology from an implementation of distributed analytics. Such a distributed analytics operation obviates requirements to deploy specific computer code onto a data storage platform to specifically target that platform for distributed predictive analytics computations.

Abstract: An object recognition system can be adapted to recognize subject matter having very few features or limited or no texture. A feature-sparse or texture-limited object can be recognized by complementing local features and/or texture features with color, region-based, shape-based, three-dimensional (3D), global, and/or composite features. Machine learning algorithms can be used to classify such objects, and image matching and verification can be adapted to the classification. Further, multiple modes of input can be integrated at various stages of the object recognition processing pipeline. These multi-modal inputs can include user feedback, additional images representing different perspectives of the object or specific regions of the object including a logo or text corresponding to the object, user behavior data, location, among others.
