  • Patent number: 10786654
Abstract: A needle assembly can include a needle and a proximal compartment forming a reservoir for collecting blood that flows through an inner lumen of needle. The needle assembly may also include a needle tip shield for capturing a sharpened distal tip of the needle. The needle tip shield can form a fluid pathway through which blood contained within the reservoir is expelled. The volume of the reservoir can be reduced to cause blood to be expelled from the needle tip shield such as by compressing the proximal compartment or a plunger connected to the proximal compartment or by moving a plunger into the reservoir. The fluid pathway of the needle tip shield can either be the same pathway through which the sharpened distal tip is withdrawn into the needle tip shield, or can be a separate pathway.

  • Patent number: 10773054
Abstract: A cannula-catheter bonding method and apparatus can include a needle having a specifically configured connector end to reduce the risk of the connector end disengaging with an adapter (e.g., a catheter, a cannula, or a connector of a Huber needle assembly, etc.). The specifically configured needle connector end can be a formation, such as a barb, a bead, an annular structure, a rib, etc. The formation can be formed on the connector end, and may be elongated with a conical shaped nose leading to a base with a bottom. The formation can be used to prevent movement of the needle relative to the adapter. A method for producing the formation can include forming a mold for the formation in a plate, where the connector end can then be placed within the mold so that curable material can be disposed within the mold. Upon hardening of the curable material, the formation can take the shape of at least a portion of the mold.

  • Patent number: 10751483
Abstract: A medicament delivery device has a syringe, a housing, a needle shield, a biasing member and one or more blocking members. The needle shield is biased axially forwardly by the biasing member so as to selectively cover a needle of the syringe. However, the biasing member is prevented from biasing the needle shield axially forwardly until a radial movement of the blocking members has occurred, which is precipitated by a forward axial movement of the syringe. Consequently, the forward movement of the syringe releases the needle shield to automatically make safe the device.
