  • Patent number: 5768880
Abstract: An opening roller for an open-end spinning device comprises a shaft supported in a bearing housing. A base body is arranged on the shaft, on which base body an exchangeable ring with combing structure is slidably arranged . The ring with combing structure is fixed at its end faces between a flange of the base body and a flange of a detachably applied tension disc. In order to brace the tension disc against the ring with combing structure by means of a spring element, a screw is axially screwed into the shaft, which screw is provided with working surfaces for a tool for pulling the opening roller out of a holding device of the bearing housing. The working surfaces are located at the end of a through bore hole of the screw on the side facing away from the head of the screw. The tension disc has an even outer front surface, which is partly formed by a covering cap, which comprises, in extension of the through bore hole, a small bore hole for inserting the tool.

  • Patent number: 5768878
Abstract: In a process in open-end spinning at least one sliver is opened into single fibers. A collecting surface, rotating at a higher speed than the opened single fibers takes up these as soon as they have left the opening area. The single fibers are taken along by the collecting surface while being expanded transversely to the rotational direction of the collecting surface in the form of a fiber veil. Before the completion of one revolution of the collecting surface, the single fibers are withdrawn from the collecting surface along a collecting line under an imparted twist thus forming a yarn, namely transversely to the direction of rotation of the collecting surface. The withdrawal speed corresponds hereby at least to the arrival speed of the single fibers at the collecting line.

  • Patent number: 5768879
Abstract: In a process in open-end spinning at least one sliver is opened into single fibers. A transfer surface, rotating at a higher speed than the opened single fibers, takes up same already in the opening area. The single fibers are taken along transversely to the rotational direction in the form of an expanded fiber veil. Before completion of one revolution of the transfer surface, the single fibers are transferred to a yarn forming line of a twist device, which, for example, comprises a friction roller pair, and are withdrawn, under the action of an imparted twist, along the yarn forming line thus forming a yarn. The yarn withdrawal takes place hereby transversely to the rotational direction of the transfer surface. The withdrawal speed corresponds at least to the speed of the single fibers as they arrive at the yarn forming line.

  • Patent number: 5765353
Abstract: A pot spinning method and apparatus wherein a spinning pot rotates during spinning about a vertical axis while an associated yarn guide tube delivers fiber material through an exit mouth of the yarn guide tube onto the rotating inside surface of the spinning pot in the form of a revolving extent of the yarn which also rotates about the axis of the spinning pot. A yarn break or unacceptable changes in quality of the spun yarn can be ascertained extraordinarily quickly if deviations in the duration of the revolution of the yarn extent at the mouth of the yarn guide tube are monitored.

  • Patent number: 5746046
Abstract: A composite yarn and a method for forming the composite yarn include the composite yarn being formed from different components wherein the resultant yarn exhibits characteristics not apparent from the individual component yarns with the composite yarn being formed from a first component yarn strand and a second component yarn strand with the first and second component strands being comingled using an entanglement device with the co-mingling occurring with the first and second component strands subject to a first tension value which is subsequently increased to a second, higher tension value for winding. A method for forming such a composite yarn includes propelling the strands through the entanglement device at a first tension value, entangling the strands, imparting a second tension value to the resultant entangled strands and winding the entangled strands.

  • Patent number: 5732544
Abstract: A yarn remnant removal system for flexible textile yarn tubes deflects the textile yarn tube inwardly in order to effectively reduce the tube circumference and loosen the yarn remnants wrapped thereon. The system provides for a tube receiver over which a textile yarn tube is placed and a deflection arm or blade which operates to engage and deflect the textile yarn tube inwardly while the tube rests on the tube receiver. Preferably, the tube receiver will include vacuum cups for providing a vacuum to engage a deflected portion of the textile yarn tube and to hold the textile yarn tube in an inwardly deflected state. The textile yarn tube remains deflected after the deflection arm is released. Multiple jets of air may be used to blow the yarn remnants from the textile yarn tube and the tube receiver may be rotated downwardly into a vertical position to further facilitate remnant removal.
