  • Patent number: 11115794
Abstract: A gas meter is outfit with near field communication (NFC) devices for in-situ exchange of data. The NFC devices reside in separate compartments. A first compartment houses electronics necessary to generate values for volumetric flow of material in a pipe. The gas meter includes a second compartment with an access point that allows data, including telemetry data, to transmit from the gas meter to a remote device. In operation, the NFC devices exchange data between the first compartment and the second compartment, often through a wall or barrier that prevents flow of fluid between the compartments.

  • Patent number: 11109324
Abstract: There is provided a wireless communication apparatus and wireless communication method, which can perform information transfer, while suppressing interference to other terminal stations, and preventing a reduction of a transmission opportunity of other terminal stations. By causing the transmission power to be reduced, at the time when a traffic amount to be transmitted and received by itself increases, a terminal station which performs wireless access based on CSMA on a mesh network can suppress interference to other surrounding terminal stations, and can prevent a reduction of a transmission opportunity of other terminal stations. By measuring the number of and sizes of packets to be transmitted and received, it is possible for a terminal station to comprehend the traffic amount to be transmitted and received by itself, and perform a control of the transmission power by this.

  • Patent number: 11071064
Abstract: Technologies directed to improving power for wireless transceivers are described. One method receives, in a low power mode, a data packet over a wireless link and determines a RSSI value and a receive signal quality indicator (RSQI) value. The method stores a record with the RSSI and RSQI values in memory. The method determines an average RSSI value and an average RSQI value from historical RSSI and RSQI values, respectively, stored in records. The method categorizes received data in a first channel quality indicator (CQI) category using the average RSSI value and the average RSQI value and configures the wireless device to operate in another power mode, responsive to the data being in the first CQI. The method processes a subsequent data packet while in the other power mode. In some cases, the other power mode is less than a maximum power mode specified by a wireless standard.

  • Patent number: 11012874
Abstract: A high-altitude platform (HAP) node provides communication service during an emergency. The HAP node uses a first network to provide communication services for handling calls initiated by at least one user equipment (UE). The HAP node detects that an emergency disruption has occurred that prevents the use of the first network. In response to detecting the occurrence of the emergency disruption, a mobile terminal (MT) in the HAP node searches for a second network able to accept emergency calls. The HAP node determines whether the second network will handle all calls initiated by the at least one UE or only emergency calls generated by the at least one UE. The HAP node handles the calls based on the determining and through the use of the second network.
