  • Patent number: 9111582
Abstract: A video tapestry comprising a plurality of blended frames of a media presentation can be presented, with the frames comprising two or more frames displayed simultaneously. A dynamic tag cloud can be presented based on data identifying different portions of the tapestry for use in navigation or understanding the video content. A method can comprise obtaining a plurality of keywords for content of a media presentation, associating a first keyword with a first tag cloud and associating a second keyword with a second tag cloud, and generating a program component for providing a dynamic tag cloud using the first and second tag clouds. The program component can display the first tag cloud when the first portion of the video tapestry is referenced and the second tag cloud when the second portion of the video tapestry is referenced. The portions may be referenced by user input, a play head, or other activity.

  • Patent number: 9098815
Abstract: Examples of a user interface are described that may include a master risk landscape map that includes nodes representing risks and links representing correlations between the risks. The visual appearance of the nodes and links may provide information about their characteristics, such as risk likelihood, risks severity, risk detectability, and/or strength of interconnectivity. The user may be able to interact with the master risk landscape map to drill down to further detail while simultaneously removing less relevant information as desired, thereby potentially allowing the user to focus on the most relevant information.

  • Patent number: 9086781
Abstract: A pop reader of a browser searches HTML code for a webpage with a plurality of links for a first link specified with a first target file name comprising a pop type element. The pop reader, responsive to detecting the first link specified with the first target file name comprising the pop type element, inserts a first command into the HTML code to disable the first link and set an event to pop up a first menu layer of a plurality of layers of a cascading menu and inserts a second command to specify the content of the first menu layer from a file accessed for the first target file name. The browser, responsive to detecting the event, displays the first menu layer with the specified content by the second command within the interface displaying the webpage.

  • Patent number: 9086777
Abstract: A smart display allows a user to build custom layouts of user interface blocks on the smart display independent of the software on the computer creating the user interface. A customization mechanism in the smart display allows a user to select portions of a user interface and move them to different positions on the display. The customization mechanism creates custom layout metadata that defines a screen offset for portions of a user interface moved by the user. The smart display monitors the incoming display data and re-assigns pixel rendering data to the new location in the moved user interface blocks as the data coming from the computer application changes.

  • Patent number: 9075517
Abstract: A system for enabling the drag and drop behavior detects a cursor over a non-input element and creates a container to receive an object dragged by the cursor. When the cursor drops an object on the non-input element, the container receives and stores the dropped object. The system then removes the container and provides the stored object to input field associated with the non-input element.

  • Patent number: 9069518
Abstract: Methods and devices for selectively presenting a user interface or “desktop” across two devices are provided. More particularly, a unified desktop is presented across a device and a computer system. The unified desktop acts as a single user interface that presents data and receives user interaction in a seamless environment that emulates a personal computing environment. To function within the personal computing environment, freeform windows are generated to encapsulate user interfaces for device applications. The freeform windows allow the user interfaces for the device applications to function as other windows in the personal computing environment.

  • Patent number: 9003302
Abstract: A method and system for providing anonymous sidebars between participants in a existing conference session such as a push-to-talk session for instance. Each applicable participant in the session has a private handle that represents the participant but that does not reveal the true identity of the participant. Further, the conference server hosting the session maintains or has access to mapping data that correlates each participant's private handle with a participant identifier that is sufficient to allow the conference server to engage in network communication with the participant. The server provides each participant with a list of other participant's private handles, and a given participant can then initiate a sidebar by sending a sidebar-initiation request designating one or more private handles selected from the list. Using its mapping data, the server then identifies the corresponding participants and sets up the anonymous sidebar.

  • Patent number: 8984441
Abstract: While a user is using the electronic device, user interaction information for keystrokes, button pushes, and activation of functional controls may be recorded. The user interaction information is stored and when the electronic device is connected to a network, the user interaction information is sent over the network to a user interface analyzer. The user interface analyzer analyzes the user interaction information to determine patterns of usage regarding a hierarchy of menu items for the user interface. The analysis may show that a user interface may be improved for better usability. The user interface on the electronic device may be dynamically changed to alter the menu hierarchy, or the analysis may be used to improve future generations of products. For example, menu items may be positioned such that the user can more easily access menu items that are used more frequently.

  • Patent number: 8972871
Abstract: A graphical object is rendered to a pixel buffer, such that a software application executing on a computing device displays the contents of the pixel buffer via a user interface. An invisible element is created and positioned under the cursor in response to detecting that the cursor is positioned over the feature being displayed via the user interface. The software application automatically repositions the invisible element in accordance with a movement of the cursor. A change in the position of the invisible element is determined, and the graphical object is repositioned within the pixel buffer in accordance with the change in the position of the invisible element.
