Abstract: A vehicle includes an powerplant, a manual transmission, and a clutch. A vehicle controller is programmed to automatically control operation of the clutch allowing the driver to shift gears by just operating the gear shifter. The vehicle also includes an input allowing the driver to override the controller and operate the clutch. The input is located on the gear shifter and is in electric communication with the controller. The controller is programmed to, inter alia, command the clutch to reduce clutch capacity responsive to receiving a signal from the sensor indicating grasping of the shifter.

  • Patent number: 11149849
Abstract: The invention relates to a linear actuator (1) for an automobile transmission comprising an electric motor (6) for moving a transmission control member (5) between a plurality of shift positions, a spring (15) for driving the transmission control member (5) to an end position of the shift range in case of electric power failure, and a worm screw (7) to drive a displaceable worm wheel (10) with a pinion (11) meshing with a displaceable gear rack (12). The transmission control member (5) is displaceably coupled to the worm wheel (10). The gear rack (2) is blocked by an electrically activated lock against linear displacement with the spring (15) in a compressed state such that upon interruption of power supply to the lock the gear rack (12) is released and linearly displaced by the spring (15) thereby shifting the transmission control element (5) to its end position.

  • Patent number: 11104225
Abstract: A transfer case with an actuator for operating a two-speed transmission (i.e., range mechanism) and a clutch (i.e., mode mechanism). The actuator employs a motor-driven cam structure that coordinates the movement of a first fork, which is associated with the range mechanism, and a second fork that is associated with the mode mechanism. A resilient coupling is employed to provide compliance between the motor and the cam structure in the event that tooth-on-tooth contact inhibits the range mechanism from changing from a high-range mode and a low range mode or tooth-on-tooth contact inhibits the mode mechanism from changing between a two-wheel drive mode and a four-wheel drive mode. A sensor target and sensor are employed to identify the rotational positioning of the cam structure placement, which is indicative of the modes in which the transmission and the clutch are operating.

  • Patent number: 11022217
Abstract: A shift-type multi-phase-shifter drive transmission device includes a drive device (3), a shifting mechanism, multiple angle adjustment mechanisms and multiple ruler mechanisms. When the shift-type drive transmission device works, the drive device (3) firstly drives a shifting rack (11) of the shifting mechanism to move to a position which is corresponding to one of the angle adjustment mechanisms, a shifting bulge (111) on the shifting rack (11) is against a driving lever (13) for engaging an active clutch gear (16) with a passive clutch gear (17) of the corresponding angle adjustment mechanism, so as to further drive a transmission screw (19), thus a transmission nut (20) on the transmission screw (19) implements the reciprocating linear motion. The shift-type drive transmission device is able to drive multiple phase shifters through one drive device (3) to perform angle adjustment, which reduces an amount of the drive sources and effectively decreases cost.
