  • Patent number: 6035499
Abstract: A connecting device for jewelry and accessory comprising a spring member made in manner that a metallic plate with an elasticity is bent to form a plate spring comprising a first plate spring section and a second plate spring section and a connecting device body including a base plate and a spring casing section placed on the base plate. The first plate spring section has one end equipped with a locking portion and a pushing handle, while the second plate spring section has one end equipped with a spring body side wall section rising to surround the pushing handle, the spring body side wall section having curved edges curved to lower so that both side surface portions thereof continuing with its central portion has one of an arc configuration and a tapered configuration. On the other hand, the spring casing section of the connecting device body has a hollow portion to accept the spring member and has one side wall curved to lower to form an arc or tapered configuration.

  • Patent number: 6035498
Abstract: A running length of fastener product is formed of longitudinally pre-oriented synthetic resin. The product is characterized by a base web and an array of discrete fastener elements protruding from at least one side of the web, the web being in a laterally stretched molecular oriented condition. After forming a preform having discrete fastener elements integral with a base web in a stretchable state, the preform is stretched in a manner that substantially increases the fastener element spacing and reduces the thickness of the base web. A machine is shown that is capable of lengthwise orienting before forming and widthwise stretching after forming, which employs controlled heating to render the product widthwise stretchable while preserving or achieving a desired shape of the fastener elements.

  • Patent number: 6032338
Abstract: The invention relates to a swaging method and apparatus for swaging flemish eye splices. In particular, the invention concerns the production of swaged joints in which, by virtue of providing ferrules (5) and swage blocks (16, 17) of a particular construction, during a swaging operation displaced material of the ferrule (5) is channeled into the swage blocks, rather than out of them, and hence ovality of the swaged ferrule is avoided. In this manner, the swage blocks (16, 17) can be brought fully home in a single operation until top and bottom flats (10e, 10f) of the ferrule (5) are in contact with top and bottom flats of the swage blocks (16, 17).

  • Patent number: 6032339
Abstract: A fastener for fastening a strap to an article having an end pin attached thereto, the fastener having a retention portion and an engagement portion defining a fastener aperture where movement of the engagement portion relative to the retention portion acts to close the fastener aperture about a reduced diameter portion of the end pin. A locking mechanism restricts movement of the engagement portion thereby maintaining the fastener aperture in its engagement position.

  • Patent number: 6029322
Abstract: A device for deterring theft of an article, including a fragile vial containing a theft deterring substance; a vial carrier structure and a cover structure. The carrier structure includes a weakened region allowing the vial carrier to yield if a force is exerted on the attachment, thereby causing the vial to break due to loads transferred via vial engaging surfaces. The connection between the carrier structure and the cover structure is formed by two or more distinct local connections separated by a central area and located spaced away from the attachment in opposite longitudinal directions of the vial. The proposed device is of a simple cost-effective and light construction while the vial reliably fractures if an unauthorized attempt is made to remove the device.

  • Patent number: 6029321
Abstract: A support strap for hand tools, hand guns and other hand-held implements having a pistol grip-type handle includes an elongated strip of flexible material having a ring attached to a first transverse end of the strip. A first fastener member is attached to the lower surface of the strip, proximate the second transverse end or tip of the strip, and a second fastener member releasably engageable with the first fastener member is attached to the upper surface of the strip. The strap is used by inserting the tip of the strap through the ring to form a first, wrist loop, into which loop the hand is inserted, and the free end pulled with a tension sufficient to tighten the loop to a desired tightness around the wrist of a user. The inner diameter of the loop is preferably slightly less than the width of the strip, thereby frictionally gripping the edges of the strap.

  • Patent number: 6029319
Abstract: A spring biased clip is provided for eyeglasses or eyewear to hold the eyewear securely in a fabric pocket when not in use. The fabric engaging end of the clip is normally held in a recess in the side of the temple where it will not inadvertently snag items, and where it will be inconspicuous. The fabric engaging end of the clip moves outward beyond the surface of the temple when the opposite end of the clip is depressed by a finger. In this position, the clip is easily slipped over the fabric edge of a pocket without applying any force to the fabric. This enables the clip to be provided with a strong spring for securely holding the eyewear.

  • Patent number: 6026545
Abstract: A universal one piece restraint bracket particularly suited for use with wire rope or cable for transverse, longitudinal and combined transverse and longitudinal seismic bracing systems for supporting an object. The bracket is generally L shaped to define a flattened apertured central portion with two wing portions generally at right angles to each other, apertured at their free ends and joined to the flattened central portion, each wing being elevated or upwardly bent away from the plane of the central portion. Aircraft type cables or wire rope connect the bracket to an adjacent support structure with the central portion of the bracket being secured to an object to be supported, whereby the bracing system acts in tension only so as to dampen earthquake loads and forces and thus is not subject to compression loads. A single bracket accommodates a wide variety of seismic bracing, and the bracket is configured for stacking with another bracket where necessary.

  • Patent number: 6023815
Abstract: A hose clip is made of a metal band having a first end portion and a second end portion. The first end portion and the second end portion overlap each other when the hose clip is in a closed position so that the second end portion is disposed radially inwardly with respect to the first end portion. The second end portion has a first radially outwardly directed closure member. The second end portion has a first cutting edge having a first portion adjoining the first closure member. The first portion extends substantially transversely with respect to a peripheral direction of the band. The second end portion has a first clamping jaw protruding radially outwardly from the band. In the closed position, the first clamping jaw is not overlapped by the first end portion. The first portion of the first cutting edge defines a projection that is oriented towards the first clamping jaw. The projection extends parallel to the band.
