  • Patent number: 6249937
Abstract: A low profile latch mechanism for use in existing and new parachute quick release couplings of the type having two nested members. The mechanism uses a U shaped latch connected to a lever. In an overlying position of the lever, the members are retained in the nested condition, preventing release of the coupling. A W-shaped spring biases tabs into engagement with apertures in one of the members. The lever is retained in the overlying position by connection with the W-shaped spring. Disengaging the W-shaped spring allows the lever to be pivoted, moving the U shaped latch to a position whereby the members are free to separate.

  • Patent number: 6247207
Abstract: A collar bar that fits within the open collar of a shirt including a first elongated member sized in length to span and hold the open collar of the shirt. A first pair of clips, with one secured to each of the opposite ends of the elongated member, attaches the elongated member to the shirt to maintain the shirt in its open condition. A second pair of clips, each of which is secured to the elongated member near each of the clips of the first pair, secures the opposed lateral edges of the ascot to the collar bar to prevent the ascot from shifting as the knot loosens. The first and second pairs of clips may take various forms, or they may coincide, thereby serving both functions simultaneously, and the elongated member may be adjustable in length.

  • Patent number: 6247208
Abstract: The present invention is directed to providing a simple, cost effective device for tightening a restraining device such as a belt, strap, rope or the like that requires very little space, and that can be easily operated to provide complete tightening of the restraining device, even when the restraining device is in a difficult to reach area. Exemplary embodiments can be configured as a unitary structure wherein arms of the unitary structure are each slotted and attached to a base of the unitary structure so that a belt can be easily inserted into the slots. The unitary structure can then be used to clamp the restraining device, such as a seat belt used to hold a child safety seat, in place. Tightening of the belt can be achieved through the use of a removable lever that tightens the belt with each rotation. Upon tightening of the belt to a desired tension, a secure locking mechanism, such as a nut, can be used to hold the belt in its tightened state without concern of belt slippage.

  • Patent number: 6240602
Abstract: A dual spacing clamp tie includes a locking head and two flexible straps extending outwardly in opposite directions from the locking head. The straps are insertable through the locking head to form two, spaced loops that can be used to secure items in spaced, parallel relationship to each other. A pair of releasable pawls in the locking head secures the straps around the items to be secured. An aperture through the locking head is provided for securing the dual spacing clamp tie to a mounting structure such as a threaded stud. An additional pawl mechanism is provided within the aperture to secure the clamp tie to the mounting stud. A nut or other fastener can be used to further secure the clamp tie to the mounting stud. If desired, the additional pawl mechanism can be configured to permit insertion of the mounting element into the aperture from one end only. The locking head may be bifurcated wherein one of the halves contains the aperture for securing the dual spacing clamp tie to the mounting structure.

  • Patent number: 6226841
Abstract: A wrapping structure for an end of a rope, includes an embracing sheath and an end cap. The embracing sheath serves to embrace the end section of the rope. One end of the sheath distal from the end cap is embossed to form a binding section fitted in a receptacle of the end cap. A center of the end face of the sheath is formed with an inward extending thread hole. The end cap is formed with a through hole. A bolt is passed through one end of a fixing section of the end cap and a through hole thereof to be screwed and fixed in the thread hole of the sheath received in the receptacle. The embracing sheath wraps and binds the end section of the rope and the bolt locks the embracing sheath with the end cap. In addition, the bolt stretches the end section of the rope outward so as to more firmly engage the rope with the embracing sheath. Therefore, when a user holds the rope, the end cap is able to effectively stop the hand of the user from axially slipping from the rope.
