  • Patent number: 6212739
Abstract: A pintle wire (10) for insertion through interdigitating end loops of a belt fabric or of a spiral connector, is disclosed which is expandable after insertion into the seam, for example by way of a sheath (12) which includes a thermally activated expanding agent. This is subject to heating to expand the sheath (12) , causing the pintle wire (10) to swell and fill voids in the seam area reducing permeability in the seam and thus reducing marking of paper webs carried by the belt.

  • Patent number: 6209177
Abstract: Molten resin material is continuously extruded from an extruding hole including a plurality of engaging-element-molding portions disposed with a constant pitch in a width direction of an extruding nozzle and a substrate-molding portion with which lower ends of the engaging-element-molding portions communicate. An ascending/descending member disposed at a front face of the extruding nozzle and made of a laterally long plank ascends and descends to vertically open and close the extruding hole of the extruding nozzle. As a result of such continuous molding, a surface fastener is continuously molded in which each of plurality engaging elements has stem and an engaging extruding head projecting at least toward one side from an end of the stem standing on a surface of a flat substrate. The engaging element thus molded has a thickness, in a direction perpendicular to a projecting direction of the engaging head, gradually increasing from a top portion of the engaging head to a base end of the stem.

  • Patent number: 6205626
Abstract: By fusing reinforcing tapes with bottom end attaching portions of fastener tapes by pressurizing heating means with different pressures (i.e., high and low), thus weakening of attaching portions can be prevented. Core threads are fitted to side edges of fastener tapes to form core portions. Reinforcing tapes formed of thermoplastic elastomer film or thermoplastic resin film are fused to wrap tape end portions including the core portions so as to form the bottom end attaching portions. The reinforcing tapes fused the core portions and vicinity portions to the fastener tapes with a low pressure and at tape main body portions to the fastener tapes with a high pressure, thereby making the core portions and the vicinity portions flexible and thick and making the tape main body portions stiff and thin to form stepped portions. The stepped portions are positioned outside flanges of a slider.

  • Patent number: 6205628
Abstract: The buckle of the invention comprises a housing, a buckle part connected to one end of a seat belt and having a passage for receiving an interlocking tongue part connected to another end of a seat belt, a pivoting carrier element carrying a latching element arranged to engage with the tongue part to lock the tongue part in the passage, a release button operatively coupled via a ramp surface to move the latching element from an engaging position in which the buckle is fastened to the tongue, to a release position in which the buckle is unfastened, a counterbalance mass slidably mounted in the housing so that its inertia acts on the latching element to keep the latching element in the tongue engaging position under forces of acceleration and of deceleration acting on the buckle, the inertia acting in a first direction under acceleration and in a second direction under deceleration thereby substantially to counteract the effects of button inertia on the operation of the buckle.

  • Patent number: 6205629
Abstract: A ferromagnetic latch (42) is moveable from a first position to a second position in which the latch locks a lockable element (16) against movement in a passage (22) in a buckle (12). The buckle (12) also includes a switch (60) which includes a ferromagnetic support member (62). The switch (60) also includes a ferromagnetic flux collecting member (70), a Hall effect device (72), and a magnet (74) fixed to the support member (62). The magnet (74) creates a magnetic field that is conducted by the flux collecting member (70) and the latch (42) away from the Hall effect device (72) when the latch is in the first position. The magnetic field is conducted by the flux collecting member (70) and the support member (62) towards the Hall effect device (72) when the latch (42) is moved away from the switch (60) to the second position. The Hall effect device (72) senses a first flux density when the latch (42) is in the first position which causes the Hall effect device (72) to provide a first output signal.

  • Patent number: 6202266
Abstract: A versatile user-adjustable clamp for clamping accessories to the panels of ready-to-assemble furniture articles, and other surfaces such as countertops, has a main body member, a jaw member, and a knob. The main body member has a substantially spool-shaped section with accessory interface means at opposing ends thereof, and a rectangular section that projects tangentially from the spool-shaped section. The spool-shaped section of the main body member telescopingly receives the jaw member, and has a knob-receiving aperture. The knob is rotatably secured within the knob aperture and provides a means for actuating the telescopic movement of the jaw member relative to the main clamp body. The jaw member includes a flat surface interface that is oriented parallel to the rectangular section of the main clamp body, and has a separate accessory interface means therein.

  • Patent number: 6202263
Abstract: The present invention provides a unique safety sleeve elastic device having an elastic member of a certain longitudinal length. The elastic member provides stretching capability of up to seven times the elastic member's original length depending on the material selected. A flexible sleeve member is disposed around the elastic member. The sleeve member is less elastic than the elastic member and provides a stretch limitation to the elastic member to prevent a user from stretching the elastic member beyond a safe elongation. The ends of the sleeve and elastic members are secured proximate to one another. The ends of the elastic members are further secured to connectors. The elastic member provides stretch capability while the sleeve member provides safety features to protect the elastic member and the user.
