  • Patent number: 7440033
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved interpolation based on motion compensation. In order to avoid interpolation artifacts in proximity to the image borders, in particular in letterbox type images, each motion compensated image data is subjected to a position validation in order to determine whether or not the motion compensated image data can be used for interpolation purposes. By comparing the position of the motion compensated image data in the referenced images with predefined borderlines, impermissible image data positions can be detected and interpolation based on such image data prevented.

  • Patent number: 7411629
Abstract: A method and an apparatus are provided for correcting the frequency characteristics of a carrier chrominance signal, which, by use of the correcting signal for the frequency characteristic involved in a vertical blanking interval, determine whether the frequency characteristics of the carrier chrominance signal are distorted and correct the frequency characteristics. A band pass filter is used which determines a degree of the frequency characteristic distortion of the carrier chrominance signal band from the correcting signal for the frequency characteristic, and has a gain in accordance with the determined result. If the frequency characteristic of the carrier chrominance signal involved in the input composite video signal is distorted by the frequency characteristics and so on of the analog broadcasting radio channel and the broadcasting receiver, the distortion is corrected whereby a stable reproduction of the color signal is possible irrespective of the broadcasting channels and the broadcasting receiver.

  • Patent number: 7411630
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an apparatus and method for transposing data. The apparatus includes a pair of line memories, a pair of memories and output units. The line memories horizontally read image data a frame of which is composed of K×L byte data (row length: K bytes, column length: L bytes), and alternately storing data arrays each having a K×N byte size (N?2). The memories alternately reads the image data from the line memories on an N-byte-at-a-time basis and each store a data array corresponding to one frame. The output units vertically address the data arrays stored in the memories on an N-byte-at-a-time basis and output the addressed data arrays.

  • Patent number: 7405769
Abstract: In a method and system for 3D comb synchronization and alignment of standard and non-standard video signals, a coarse synchronization is performed on a bottom frame, a current frame, and a top frame based on a bottom frame field count. The current frame is assigned the frame transferred immediately prior to a bottom frame whereas the top frame is assigned the frame transferred two frames. A current frame window signal and a top frame window signal may be used to lock the current frame and the top frame to a bottom frame vertical sync signal. After coarse synchronization, the video frames are finely aligned by correlating a phase difference between the subcarrier signals in each frame and modifying the phase difference until the correlation results in a specified phase locked value range. This method and system may facilitate the handling of video stream switching and non-standard data streams.

  • Patent number: 7403235
Abstract: An image signal processing apparatus having three processing portions. A first processing portion generates a motion class that corresponds to a target position in an output image signal based on an input image signal. A second portion generates a space class corresponding to the target position based on the input image signal and synthesizes the space class and the motion class to generate one class. A third portion selects multiple items of pixel data positioned in a periphery of this target position based on the input image signal and generates pixel data of the target position in the output image signal according to an estimate equation using the multiple items of pixel data and coefficient data corresponding to the class. These processing portions are respectively constituted of integrated circuits (ICs) having the same configuration. These ICs have first and second functional blocks. Each of the functional blocks changes its functionality according to setting.
