Abstract: According to embodiments of the present disclosure, a managed network device assigns to itself an IP address, in absence of a DHCP service, in a link local address space within a wireless network. The system further responds to a network frame received from another device based on the assigned IP address in the link local address space. The network frame can be a network traffic frame, a control path frame, and/or a management frame. The control path frame comprises a source IP address and a destination IP address that correspond to internal IP addresses in the link local address space that are self-assigned by managed network devices. The management frame comprises the self-assigned internal IP address for the managed network device, and provides for management of managed network devices in the wireless network through a single IP address when a virtual controller is configured for the wireless network.

Abstract: For automatically aggregating text-based messages together based on context, an apparatus for automatically identifying a topic of a reply message and associating the reply message with a conversation thread based on the topic is disclosed. The apparatus may include a processor and a memory that stores code executable by the processor, including code that identifies a messaging conversation between two or more messaging devices, code that determines a topic of a reply message in the messaging conversation, and code that associates the message with a conversation thread based on the topic. In one embodiment, the apparatus examines active applications on a messaging device composing the message and determines the topic based on the active applications. In one embodiment, the apparatus identifies an unanswered question and determines whether the reply message answers the unanswered question. A method and computer program product also perform the functions of the apparatus.

Abstract: Throttling polling may include sending a request to an agent device and determining whether a response to the sent request is successfully received from the agent device. A result of the determination may be stored in a memory and associated with the agent device. Further, a success rate is calculated for the agent device based on a plurality of the results. A metric related to the sent request and a subsequently sent request is adjusted for the agent device in accordance with an algorithm based on the calculated success rate for the agent device. The metric may be an amount of time between the sent request and a subsequently sent request for the agent device or a number of subsequently sent requests for the agent device.

Abstract: A method for managing a data item includes a hub receiving a first access request from a first engine executing on a computing device operated by a first host and sending the first access request to a second engine executing on a first computing device of a second host. The second host owns the data item. The hub receives, from the second engine, the data item and an access rule set by the second host for the first host, and sends the first access rule and the data item to the first engine for storage. The first engine grants the first host access to the data item according to the first access rule.

Abstract: A streaming video playback system is provided to generate locally a manifest file associated with a streaming video for a media player of a client device. The locally generated manifest file helps reduce startup time for the media player and the manifest file is locally generated based on streaming metadata associated with the streaming video and the manifest files includes HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) based master playlists and media playlists. The locally generated manifest file also provides better adaptive bit rate control by enabling pre-fetching of video segments of a streaming video and caching during playback. The streaming video playback system reduces the size of media playlist transmitted to a content sharing service using index of the last video segment and makes it practical to have DVR-able live video streaming with a larger seek window.

Abstract: A network connection status detection system and method thereof. The system comprises a network address translation (NAT) router, a server end and at least one network electronic device. The NAT router is a bridge for communicating an intranet with an extranet. The server end is disposed at the extranet and connected to the NAT router through a network. The network electronic device is disposed at the intranet and connected to the NAT router. When a channel is established between the network electronic device and the NAT router by executing a connection configuration so that the network electronic device connects to the server end, the network electronic device sends a connection detection signal to the server end. If the server end receives the connection detection signal and returns a confirmation signal, an indicator of the network electronic device will remind a user in a predetermined way.

Abstract: A device may correspond to a physical access controller in a distributed physical access control system. A method, performed by the device in a distributed system, may include detecting that another device in the distributed system has become unavailable; determining that a loss of consensus has occurred in the distributed system based on detecting that the other device has become unavailable; generating a list of available devices in the distributed system; and sending an alarm message to an administrative device, wherein the alarm message indicates the loss of consensus and wherein the alarm message includes the list of available devices.

Abstract: A method, system, and program product for communicating with machines and end users connected to a network. Information sent to or from the machines is transmitted using electronic mail or a via a direct connection. The electronic mail may be transmitted over the Internet to a service center or from a service center to a resource administrator, but also may remain within a local or wide area network for transmission between a machine and an end user or a resource administrator. E-mail messages may be transmitted from a computer which is attached to a device which is being monitored or controlled and include information regarding the status, usage or capabilities of the attached device. The device may send status messages and usage information of the device by an end user to either a resource administrator or to a service center on the Internet through a firewall.

Abstract: The embodiments describe an apparatus for accessing a remote object. The apparatus includes a transceiver. The transceiver is configured to transmit a Domain Name Service request of the remote object to a Domain Name Service server and receive a Domain Name Service response comprising an Internet Protocol of the remote object. The transceiver is further configured to connect to the Internet Protocol of the remote object based on the Domain Name Service response.

Abstract: There is provided a system and method for optimizing loading of content data on a webpage by utilizing client-side technology. The system comprising a server and a client device, the client device configured to request a webpage from a server, receive an image tag and a configuration file from the server, determine a selected image from a plurality of images using client capabilities, the image tag, and the configuration file, create an image handle to request the selected image from the server, transmit the image handle to the server, and receive the selected image from the server. The client device may also receive supported advertisements from the server, select at least one advertisement from the supported advertisements using the client capabilities, and request the at least one advertisement from the server.

Abstract: A remote access service is provided by receiving remote access transport agent (RATA) capability information of a home remote access server (RAS) and a remote RAS from the home RAS and the remote RAS, respectively, generating a RATA profile based on the RATA capability information, supported by the home RAS and the remote RAS, and transmitting the generated RATA profile to the home RAS and the remote RAS, respectively.

Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide a system, method, and computer program product for generating remote views in a virtual mobile device platform. In one embodiment, events from a physical mobile device are sent to a distant virtual device. The virtual device creates views based on the received events. Graphical attributes of one or more of the created views are captured and sent to the physical mobile device. Remote views are generated at the physical mobile device based on the attributes received from the virtual device.

Abstract: Systems and methods of conducting status updates may incorporating a text summary of an image into a status update message, and determining whether to incorporate the image into the status update message based on a network condition associated with a network. In addition, the status update message can be sent via the network wherein, in one example, the status message is sent only to remote parties having a status that satisfies a relevance condition with respect to the content of the text summary.

Abstract: Systems and methods for delivery of localized media assets to a content playback device are disclosed. A file server stores a base file and localized file associated with a localized media content. The base file and localized file each include one or more fragments. A web server delivers base file fragments and localized file fragments from the file server to the content playback device. Playback logic contained in one or more playlists determines an order of streaming each of the plurality of base file fragments and each of the plurality of localized file fragments for playback of the localized media content.

Abstract: A remote access service is provided by receiving remote access transport agent (RATA) capability information of a home remote access server (RAS) and a remote RAS from the home RAS and the remote RAS, respectively, generating a RATA profile based on the RATA capability information, supported by the home RAS and the remote RAS, and transmitting the generated RATA profile to the home RAS and the remote RAS, respectively.

The information includes a list of social networking accounts of which each of the users is a member, and a visibility status associated with each of social networking accounts. The server system provides a first list of social networking accounts having a first visibility status of a first user of the server system to a second user of the server system when the second user has a second list of social networking accounts that corresponds to the first list of social networking accounts that is set to the same visibility status as the first visibility status of the first list of social networking accounts.

Abstract: An intelligent virtual desktop infrastructure (iVDI) system is described. The system includes a first storage module having a processor, in communication with a hypervisor, and implemented by a volatile memory. The first storage module supplies a plurality of virtual machine operating systems (VMOSs) to the hypervisor. The hypervisor runs virtual machine (VMs) corresponding to the VMOSs. The systems also includes a VMOS management module configured to execute a first determination operation to determine if a usage of the first storage module has reached a preset storage limit. If yes, the VMOS management module selectively (a) initiate a deduplication operation directed to the plurality of VMOSs stored in the first storage module and (b) initiate a removal operation including removing at least one of the VMOSs from the first storage module and/or turning off at least one of the VMs running on the hypervisor.
