Abstract: This disclosure describes a method, system and computer-program product for parallelized feature selection. The method, system and computer-program product may be used to access a first set of features, wherein the first set of features includes multiple features, wherein the features are characterized by a variance measure, and wherein accessing the first set of features includes using a computing system to access the features, determine components of a covariance matrix, the components of the covariance matrix indicating a covariance with respect to pairs of features in the first set, and select multiple features from the first set, wherein selecting is based on the determined components of the covariance matrix and an amount of the variance measure attributable to the selected multiple features, and wherein selecting the multiple features includes executing a greedy search performed using parallelized computation.

Abstract: Described are techniques for providing a logical device model. In one embodiment, a a method for providing a logical device model includes providing a plurality of logical devices, at least one of said plurality of logical devices being provided by a first provider executing in kernel space and at least one of said plurality of logical devices being provided by a second provider executing in user space, and establishing a relationship between the first provider and the second provider wherein the first provider is a consumer of a logical device provided by the second provider, said logical device model including said relationship.

Abstract: A method and apparatus generate a community based on goals and intentions of its members. Context information related to a first member is collected. A list of goals that the first member wants to accomplish and a list of capabilities that the first member may provide are derived, based on the context information. A search is conducted to find a second member that has at least one of a capability matching at least one goal listed in the list of goals and a goal matching at least one capability listed in the list of capabilities. And then, a community including the first member and the second member is generated.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to cloud computing-based data sharing system and method, the system including a plurality of industrial device management units configured to transmit a recent shared data to a cloud server by periodically communicating with the cloud server, to receive a recent shared data of other industrial device management units received from the cloud server and to synchronize the shared data by updating the recent shared data to its own shared data, and a cloud server configured to compare a received shared data with a pre-stored shared data, in a case a shared data is received form an industrial device management unit among the plurality of industrial device management units through a communication network, to update its shared data as a result of the comparison, and to transmit a notification message including the updated shared data to other industrial device management unit through the communication network.

Abstract: Techniques described herein relate to generating new assessment items and updating existing assessment items. Input data may be received corresponding to the addition, removal, or modification of assessment components within assessment items, and may cause immediate generation and validation of corresponding markup language data blocks, thereby allowing for interactive construction and automated encoding of assessment items. Additional techniques described herein relate to determining compatible scoring types for assessment items and generating and embedding markup language data blocks corresponding to assessment item scoring data.

Abstract: A Multi-Shot Scheduling System chooses from multiple candidate playlists of positions to select a broadcast playlist. Candidate playlists are generated based upon scoring and selecting content items for the positions through the use of index values. Various embodiments of the Multi-Shot Scheduling System can select broadcast playlists for multiple groups of content and can provide different methods of controlling scheduling performance by restricting the range of candidate playlists from which the best playlist can be selected.

Abstract: Providing analytics information from a cloud service includes maintaining an analytics database that is separate from data and servers accessed by users of the cloud service, selectively pushing information from the cloud service to the analytics database, where data and servers accessed by users of the cloud service are inaccessible for direct access by the analytics database, and allowing users limited access to the analytics database, where users of the analytics information that are accessing the analytics database are restricted from accessing data and servers of the cloud service. The analytics database may include a first database of adapted database records and a second database of dynamic logs of service related events. The adapted database records may be initially formed using the data and servers accessed by users of the cloud service prior to being pushed to the analytics database.

At least one geographic object, at least partially within the boundary, is identified. Each geographic object is representable by one or more geographic coordinates. A search is performed, on an external data source, for unstructured information associated with the at least one geographic object and a plurality of search results are received. The plurality of search results are classified and displayed according to a user topic of interest.

Abstract: A method and system for providing query aware partitioning are disclosed. For example, the method receives a query plan comprising a plurality of queries, and classifies each one of the plurality of queries. The method computes an optimal partition set for each one of the plurality of queries, and reconciles the optimal partition set of each one of the plurality of queries with at least one subset of queries of the plurality of queries. The method selects at least one reconciled optimal partition set to be used by each query of the plurality of queries, and stores the selected at least one reconciled optimal partition set in a computer readable medium.

Abstract: A bioinformatics system and method is provided for integrated processing of biological data. According to one embodiment, the invention provides an interlocking series of target identification, target validation, lead identification, and lead optimization modules in a discovery platform oriented around specific components of the drug discovery process. The discovery platform of the invention utilizes genomic, proteomic, and other biological data stored in structured as well as unstructured databases. According to another embodiment, the invention provides overall platform/architecture with integration approach for searching and processing the data stored in the structured as well as unstructured databases. According to another embodiment, the invention provides a user interface, affording users the ability to access and process tasks for the drug discovery process.

Abstract: A music service remote from a local device user identifies matching video and music content. An identification of a piece of media content that is part of a collection or playlist, is received by the service, the selected piece of media content being included in a unified catalog of video and music content that is accessible by the music service. If the selected piece of media content has a matching member in the unified catalog, the matching member replaces the selected piece of media content during playback of the collection on the local device. The service analyzes a collection of media content associated with the user, the content collection being either i) stored locally on the local device, or ii) stored remotely from the local device in a store that is accessible by the music service, or iii) stored using a combination of local and remote storage.

Abstract: A method for content recommendation for a user, wherein a song or a video is recommended to the user and a confidence measure is determined for the recommended song. The confidence measure is displayed to the user, so the user may get more confidence into the recommendation of the system.

Abstract: Database data is unmasked in order to facilitate its efficient handling by a database engine. In response to a request for data of a masked table including a masked element, an engine identifies a mask interval, and then performs a first join with unmasked elements sharing a common key. The table resulting from this first join is then grouped according to a highest level location of the mask. A second join is then performed between the results of this grouping and the mask interval, to produce a corresponding unmasked table including a plurality of unmasked elements corresponding to the masked element. Unmasking according to embodiments may be particularly useful in leveraging processing power of an in-memory database engine, allowing it to efficiently perform batch processing of requests for masked data received from software of an overlying application layer.

Abstract: A system for playback of messages. Context appropriate messages for an environment may be played back. Messages may be user behavior interactive and subject to user behavior initiated message playback conditions. User generated environment events may be automatically analyzed and user behavior interactive messages may be automatically coordinated. An automated themed message playback apparatus may have a self-contained housing within which a stored themed message, an in situ user generated environment event sensor, and an automated themed message playback device are housed. User generated environment events may be automatically sensed in situ.

Abstract: Multiple servers sharing a distributed file system are used to perform copies of regions of a source file in parallel from a source storage unit to corresponding temporary files at a destination storage unit. These temporary files are then merged or combined into a single file at the destination storage unit in a way that preserves the inode structure and attributes of the source file. A substantial speedup is obtained by copying regions of the file in parallel.

Abstract: A method for identifying relevant shared resources for a requested browser criterion, the method comprising the steps of: receiving browser monitoring data for a shared resource, the browser monitoring data including an identification of a browser criterion; recording the browser monitoring data to a monitoring data store; parsing the monitoring data in the monitoring data store to identify relevant monitoring data for the requested browser criterion; and identifying shared resources associated with the relevant monitoring data.

Abstract: An object oriented search mechanism extracts structural metadata and data based on type of document contents and data sources connected to the documents. Relationships between textual and non-textual elements within documents as well as metadata associated with the elements and data sources are utilized to generate a unified object model with the addition of semantic information derived from metadata and taxonomy, which are used to enhance search indexing, ranking of search results, and dynamic adjustment of result rendering user interface with fine tuned relevancy. Additional data from data sources connected to the documents may also be used to unlock hidden data such as data that has been filtered out in an original document.

Abstract: The different advantageous embodiments provide a dynamic configuration system comprising a number of networks, a number of imaging devices, and a dynamic host configuration protocol server. The dynamic host configuration protocol server is configured to execute a dynamic configuration process to place the number of imaging devices into the number of networks.

Abstract: A database query is received including a logical table identifier, a data element, and at least one data source assurance indicator at a distributed database node within a distributed network of databases. The data element is encrypted based upon the at least one data source assurance indicator. A data portion of a local query response to the database query is formed including data retrieved from a local physical database table mapped by a local logical table that matches the received logical table identifier. A node identifier and the encrypted data element are added as an authentication portion of the local query response to authenticate the data portion of the local query response. The database query is responded to with at least the authenticated local query response. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.
