  • Patent number: 9388921
Abstract: A plug-in piece 1 for sealing connection of two mutually assigned cylindrical surfaces includes an essentially tubular support body 2, which on its ends exhibits annularly encircling sealing elements, which can be made to engage to produce a sealing connection with the cylindrical surfaces to be sealed, wherein at least one of the sealing elements is configured as an annularly encircling sealing bead 3, 30 on the outer surface of the support body 2, with a spherically curved sealing surface. Provision is made that the spherical radius of the sealing surface (3, 30) is chosen so that the center of the sphere is roughly at the axis of support body (2) symmetry. Thus, the compression forces are ensured to remain largely constant, independent of the angular setting over the entire surface of the sealing bead.

  • Patent number: 9360112
Abstract: An assembly is disclosed for sealing the sliding interface between two objects capable of sliding or moving with respect to one another, but where the sliding interface must provide a substantial seal against pressure loss therethrough, such as where an assembly seals the sliding interface between a piston and a cylinder or between a rod and a bushing. The sliding interface includes a seal located in a seal groove, wherein the seal ring height is less than the height of the seal groove and the inner diameter of the seal is greater than the base of the groove. In one aspect, the difference in height is set by a shim and a piece of material of the same height as that of the seal ring.

  • Patent number: 9303587
Abstract: A rubber ring for a gasket has a first bulging portion composing a seal portion; a second bulging portion composing an attachment portion; and a depressed portion between the first bulging portion and the second bulging portion. The first bulging portion includes a thickest portion carrying out a sealing function, and when the rubber ring is compressed from both sides, the second bulging portion and the depressed portion have a thickness which does not contact with the faces sandwiching the gasket. An end of the metal plate is positioned in a range of the depressed portion between the first bulging portion and the second bulging portion, and between changing points wherein each of slope face, sloping toward the depressed portion from the two bulging portions, changes into a curved surface concaving on an outer side from a curved surface projecting on the outer side.

  • Patent number: 9267353
Abstract: Backup rings are disposed on opposed sides of a sealing element. The backup rings are initially bow shaped in the run in position. Opposed ends of the bow shape are brought together to extend the extrusion barriers and compress the sealing element. The relative axial movement that brings the opposed ends of the bow shape together results in radially extending the bow shape. The bow shape is reformed into a teardrop shape that extends radially beyond a pinch location created by relative axial movement of adjacent support members coming closer together. A sealing element extends radially during the deployment of the extrusion barriers and is contained between them. The extension of the extrusion barriers allows conformance to surface irregularities in the surrounding tubular or wellbore wall.

  • Patent number: 9267602
Abstract: A seal assembly between a rotor and a stator is disclosed. In one embodiment, the seal assembly includes: a rotor; a stator positioned around the rotor; and a plurality of seal leaves positioned between the rotor and the stator, the plurality of seal leaves circumferentially stacked around the rotor to define a seal ring between the rotor and the stator, wherein gaps between adjacent seal leaves are partially filled, such that contact faces and residual gaps are between adjacent seal leaves, wherein the contact faces generate friction to dampen vibrations during operation. Such damping effects still allow the compliant motion of the seal leaves with minimal leaf vibration. Also, thicker and more resilient leaves may be applied with reduced leakage through the root gaps.

  • Patent number: 9234588
Abstract: A flexible stuffing box packing assembly has fifth rings which are placed within a stuffing box. The pressures are transferred along the sequence of the first, second, third, fourth and fifth rings. The gaps between the first and second rings and between the fourth and fifth rings provide a space for expansion of the rings. The V shape recesses in various rings provide margins for the materials of the rings to expansion. Therefore, the structure provides that all rings can expand effectively without destroying the seal structure and the stresses from various rings will disperse effectively so that lifetime of the rings are prolong.
