  • Patent number: 5090348
Abstract: The invention is a traffic signalling post which comprises a flexible rod member, a rigid shaft coaxially secured at one end to the rod member, an anchor bore member adapted to house the shaft for maintaining the latter in a vertical position. The bore member has a perforated elastic diaphragm for peripherally sealing the shaft at a location adjacent the rod member when the latter sits in the bore member. The diaphragm is particularly characterized by a pair of rectilinear lips extending upwardly and adapted to be depressed downwardly with the introduction of the shaft in the anchor bore member and to be raised upwardly by the retraction of the shaft from the anchor bore member.

  • Patent number: 5088440
Abstract: An indicating mechanism is described. The mechanism is ideally suited for the indication of time but is also applicable to other indicating functions where changing information must be displayed. The mechanism is composed of a flexible belt bearing indicia and three supportive discs. As the discs are caused to rotate, the belt and any indicia on it will rotate. This rotation will be apparent to users who see or touch the indicia on the belt, thus providing an indicating function. The unique geometry of the belt gives two full circular discoidal surfaces for decoration. Typically only one of these surfaces will be visible to users as the other is disposed directly below it. This arrangement allows times within each 12 hour period in the 24 hour day cycle to be indicated uniquely while maintaining the conventional location of each AM and PM hour's representation of the clock face.

  • Patent number: 5083461
Abstract: A high pressure, fluid level sensor and seal includes a body supporting a removable end cap and housing a trunnion bearing comprising a pivot disk that is pivotable about a pivot axis formed by a pair of pivot pins that are secured to the base of the end cap. The pivot disk is connected to a control arm that freely passes through the end cap. The pivot disk is also connected to a displacer arm that engages a float or displacer in communication with fluid in a high pressure tank. A compression spring acting between the control arm and the end cap biases the pivot disk against the pivot pins. The control arm engages an operating mechanism in a controller that includes a relay. The body is secured in the wall of a high pressure tank. A high pressure seal is formed by a spacer that forms a slip fit with an annular recess on the pivot disk and which engages the end cap and O-rings. The O-rings couple the spacer to the pivot disk and couple the spacer to the end cap.

  • Patent number: 5070808
Abstract: A gear range indicator for use with automatic transmission which is remote from the shift mechanism, yet requires little or no adjustment to be made to the mechanical linkage to compensate for variations in the position of the display relative to the shift mechanism. The gear range indicator uses light conducting columns to illuminate symbols corresponding to the gear range selected. An opague indicator control strip with an aperture blocks light from reaching the columns except for that light passing through the aperture. The aperture is aligned with the column corresponding to the gear range selected.
