  • Patent number: 5208923
Abstract: An improved swimming pool water flow system for filtering in and intermittently heating the pool water, and for interrupting water flow through the heat exchanger when no heating is required. The system improvement includes an improved water flow arrangement wherein pool water is drawn from the pool and, encountering a filter or chlorinator, is selectively diverted at a predetermined pool water outlet temperature into the heat exchanger. The water pump is thus used to pull water through the heat exchanger in counter circulating fashion only when the thermostat sensing pool water outlet temperature opens a control valve in the water flow path between the heat exchanger and the pump.

  • Patent number: 5205168
Abstract: In a device for carrying out quality test firings with a gun barrel (1), a mount (2) and an automatic adjusting arrangement (4, 5, 6) for resetting the barrel (1), a given directional setpoint value is compared with the actual direction value. While the actual value is derived from a mirror (3) attached to the barrel (1) itself, the setpoint value is produced by a frequency-modulated laser beam (.nu.) from a source mounted nonvibratingly and separately from the barrel (1) and its mounting (2). By this separation, the hit dispersion due to the mechanical components is reduced to a minimum. This device is of particular usefulness in the development and quality control of small-calibre ammunition.

  • Patent number: 5203631
Abstract: A narrow-band pyrometric system measures the temperature of an object (1), such as a semiconductor wafer (1), that is coated with a film (2) having an absorption band. The thermal radiation emitted by the coated object (1) passes through a lens (3) and aperture (4), and then a filter (5). The passband of this filter (5) falls within the absorption band of the film (2). The transmitted radiation is then collected by the radiation detector (6), which measures the intensity. The detected radiation is at a wavelength where the heated object (1) is substantially opaque, and the effect of uncertainties in the emissivity on the temperature measurement is minimized. Thus, a method is provided to coat the object (1) with a film (2) of material having an absorption band encompassing the filter (5) passband, and a thickness sufficiently great that the object (1) appears opaque when viewed through the filter (5).

  • Patent number: 5203036
Abstract: An apparatus for delivering paper for a water closet seat has; a lid whose rear end is rotatably supported by a box secured to the upper rear of a closet bowl: the closet seat being under the lid with the rear end thereof being rotatably and vertically movably supported by the box and urged upwardly by a spring. A ratchet driving portion including a ratchet is rotatably supported by the box and a pawl is attached to the lid. By the opening of the lid, the pawl engages the ratchet to rotate the ratchet through a predetermined angle. A paper delivery roller portion including a driving roller is rotatable by the rotation of the ratchet driving portion and a pressure roller pressure-contacted to the driving roller is rotatable by the rotation of the driving roller. The paper is clamped between the driving roller and the pressure roller, and the paper is pulled out by the rotation of the aforesaid two rollers and the paper having a predetermined length is delivered between the lid and the closet seat.

  • Patent number: 5201277
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide a display apparatus for a vehicle in which luminance of the display pattern of letters, graduations, a pointer, and the like are increased without unevenness in the luminance but also the distance between a front face of a pointer plate and a rear face of the movement of the display apparatus is shortened. A circular pointer plate with a transmitting slit is disposed on front a portion of the display apparatus. An outer periphery of the pointer plate is toothed and is engaged with a driving gear fixed to a driving shaft of the movement to be directly driven by the movement. A dial is disposed on a back face of the pointer plate. A portion where the dial overlaps the pointer plate, and other portion for graduations and the like which surrounds the portion are formed as light transmitting portion, but, other portions are formed as light intercepting portion. • Patent number: 5199374
Abstract: An emergency location marker system for capsized vessels is housed in an emergency location marker canister or container (10) secured by a bracket (22) to an exposed or outside surface of the vessel (60). An inflatable aerial location marker (40) is deflated and folded in the small space of the canister. The aerial location marker is formed to provide upon inflation a relatively large surface area flat configuration to blanket a sufficient area of the sea surface for high visibility. The high visibility sea surface area blanketing marker (40) is formed with at least one flexible joint (41) for responding flexibly to wave motion while adhering to the sea surface. The sea surface area marker may be in a flat circular configuration, for example six feet in diameter and formed with a high visibility color. Flexible joints (41) along intersecting diameters permit flexing of the flat circular configuration marker in response to waves from all directions.

  • Patent number: 5197805
Abstract: A protective tube is provided for a temperature sensor. The protective tube includes an inner metal tube including a chamber for containing a temperature sensor, an intermediate refractory sleeve surrounding and abutting at least a portion of the inner metal tube, and an outer refractory sleeve cast onto the intermediate refractory sleeve. The outer refractory sleeve covers the intermediate refractory sleeve and the inner metal tube inside the intermediate refractory sleeve. The intermediate refractory sleeve is made of an elastic material such as a ceramic refractory paper or coating or a fiberglass material that deforms during expansion and contraction of the inner metal tube and the outer refractory sleeve with changing temperature. The intermediate refractory sleeve provides a buffer between the inner metal tube and the outer refractory sleeve to minimize rupture of the outer refractory sleeve which might otherwise occur during expansion and contraction of the tube and sleeve with changing temperature.

  • Patent number: 5197151
Abstract: The overflow tube and ball valve of a conventional water tank are replaced with a collapsible tube, one end of which is located above the water outlet of the tank, and the other end of which is located above the water line in the tank and able to be compressed to allow water to flow through the tube thereby flushing the tank. The volume of water expelled from the tank is controlled by choosing an appropriate amount of compression. The compressed tube returns to its original height after flushing. In one embodiment of the invention, a handle on the exterior of the tank cover is used to compress the tube in a plunger-like motion. The handle is provided with markings corresponding to the amount of water flushed for a given vertical displacement of the handle. In another embodiment of the invention, a lever is positioned on the front wall of the tank and is able to cause rotation of a cantilever beam. At the free end of the beam is a connection to a vertical rod which is depressed by rotation of the lever.

  • Patent number: 5195191
Abstract: A multi-gasket sealing assembly or mount is disclosed for improved mounting of a swimming pool water skimmer in an opening in a pool wall of the type having a metal wall portion and a flexible inner sheet liner. The water skimmer has a housing defining a water inlet chamber for intake of water and an annular chamber end portion which protrudes through the pool wall opening. The housing also has an outwardly projecting peripheral flange spaced from the chamber end portion, the flange being bolted to the metal wall portion. A continuous gasket is located around the chamber end portion. An annular face plate is connected to the chamber end portion to compress the gasket and also to press the pool liner against the metal wall portion to prevent water from getting behind the liner. Another gasket is compressed between the peripheral flange and the metal wall portion to seal against the ingress of sand and other particulate matter into the skimmer from behind the pool wall.
