Abstract: This invention relates to an elastomeric article with improved lubricity and donnablity and reduced stickiness/tackiness. According to the methods of the invention, the internal surface of the elastomeric article is coated with a polyisoprene coating. The coating of the invention is formed from synthetic polyisoprene rubber that may or may not contain minor amounts of other components. The coating is preferably directly bonded to the underlying elastomeric article.
Abstract: Multilayer balloon for a catheter comprises a first layer of a first elastomeric polymeric material, and a second layer of a second elastomeric polymeric material having a lower maximum blow up ratio (BUR) than the first elastomeric polymeric material and being an outer layer relative to the first layer. The multilayer balloon is formed by blow-molding such that the multilayer balloon is blown, in at least a first stage, to a final working radial dimension, wherein an area draw-down ratio (ADDR) of 2.0 for the multilayer balloon is targeted.

Abstract: The invention provides compositions of chloroprene rubbers having improved vibration-damping properties under low temperature conditions without deterioration of mechanical properties, permanent compression set and tension fatigue in the final product. The chloroprene rubbers of the invention contain a xanthogen-modified chloroprene rubber and/or a mercaptan-modified chloroprene rubber in an amount of 100 parts by mass, a carbon black having an average particle diameter of 70 mn to 600 mn and a DBP oil absorption (as determined by Absorption A method of JIS-K6221) of 15 ml/100 g in an amount of 15 to 150 parts by mass, and a plasticizer represented by the chemical formula R1COO—(CH2)8—COOR2 wherein R1 and R2 each represent an alkyl group having 1 to 7 carbons.
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a tile or panel having at least one magnetic material embedded therein, and fully or partially covered with at least one layer of parchment. The invention also encompasses at least one discrete permanent magnet that is placed at an appropriate location within a panel or tile, and wherein at least a portion of the panel or tile and the at least one magnet are then optionally covered with at least one layer of at least one barrier material, and then at least one parchment layer partially or fully envelopes this assembly. Abstract: A bioabsorbable scaffold composed of a multilayer structure of alternating layers of different polymers is disclosed. The multilayer structure can have 20 to 1000 layers and the individual thickness of the layers can be 0.2 to 5 microns. A method of making the scaffold including a layer multiplying extrusion process is disclosed.
Abstract: A packaging article has tear initiators for initiating a manual tear that can be propagated to open a package and allow a product to be readily removed therefrom, without the use of a knife or scissors or any other implement. The packaging article is made from a heat-shrinkable multilayer film having at least one layer containing an incompatible polymer blend, and/or a layer containing an inorganic filler, and/or a layer having a high Young's modulus. The film also has a Peak Load Impact Strength of at least 50 Newtons per mil, The tear initiators can be used to generate a manual machine direction tears to open the package, with the manual machine direction tear being capable of propagating in the machine direction to the opposite edge of the packaging article. A process for making a package and manually opening the package is also disclosed.

Abstract: A container of a multilayered structure comprising an inner layer and an outer layer of a low-density polyethylene, and an intermediate layer that includes a gas-barrier resin layer and adhesive layers, wherein the adhesive layers contain an acid-modified polyethylene and a propylene resin, the propylene resin being contained in an amount of 0.5 to 10% by weight in the adhesive layers. The container is obtained by using decreased amounts of resins without impairing properties of the containers.

Abstract: A transparent article includes a continuous polyester matrix having at least one incompatible filler dispersed therein. The incompatible filler provides domains in the polyester matrix, each domain having a particular dimension, thus providing a range of dimensions for the domains in the article. To create haze, the dimensions are within the range of from about 380 nm to about 720 nm. Once the range of dimensions is determined, a light absorbent composition can be found which absorbs light at a range of wavelengths that at least substantially covers the range of dimensions of the domains. In doing so, it has been found that the haze of the article can be substantially masked. Method for producing the article and for masking the haze are also provided.

Abstract: Containers and components thereof for use in the medical industry and methods to manufacture the same are described. An example tab for use with a medical container includes opposing sheets sealed to define an open ended chamber into which a port is to be at least partially positioned. The port is to enable access to the medical container. The tab includes a tear seal defined by each of the opposing sheets and a first guide positioned on a first side of each of the tear seals. Abstract: Disclosed is a coating for inhibiting the formation of scales on one or more surfaces of a component used in the production of subsurface fluids. The coating comprises a diamond-like carbon structure doped with a dopant, such as silicon, titanium, fluorine, oxygen, or chromium. The dopant comprises between about 10% and about 40% of the coating by atom.
Abstract: A lightweight polyester preform is disclosed for the production of light weight polyester containers by blow molding. The preforms and the resulting blown containers have threads on an exterior surface adjacent an upper end. Adjacent to and located below the threads is a support ring. The support ring is used in handling and conveying a preform from injection molding to a blow mold and in blow molding the container from the preform. It also is used in handling and conveying the preform from storage to the blow mold. To lightweight the preform, and subsequent container, the support ring is designed to have a minimum weight, but a sufficient strength for the handling of the preform in the production of the blow molded container. The support ring is reduced in weight by about 10% to about 70% from a conventional preform support ring.

Abstract: The invention describes a flexible tubular article for transport of volatile hydrocarbons comprising: (a) an inner layer of a polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) polymer or a polyvinylidene difluoride copolymer; (b) an intermediate thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) layer extruded in tubular form over the inner PVDF layer, and (c) a polyvinyl chloride polymer extruded in tubular form over the outside surface of the intermediate layer and being coextensive therewith. The tubular articles of the invention have a maximum permeation rating of 15 g/m2/day under SAE J1737 test conditions.

Abstract: A tubular liner for pipelines includes an inner tubular film and a fiber material layer located on the film and impregnated with a reactive resin curable under UV light. The film contains a styrene-proof and thermally weldable carrier material having a laminated non-woven layer on its outer side facing the fiber material. The carrier material includes an overlapping region along the film. Edge sections of the carrier material are thermally welded together in the overlapping region. The non-woven layer on the outer side of the radially inner lower edge section in the overlapping region is thermally welded to the carrier material on the lower side of the radially outer upper edge section, and the radially outer upper edge section in the overlapping region has a structure on its outer side enabling a durable adhesion of reactive resin. A method for manufacturing the tubular liner is provided.
