  • Patent number: 4693024
Abstract: Product information tags formed from plastic sheet are adapted to engage a merchandise support hook between two arms of an angle iron hook support member. In one form of the invention a mounting portion of the sheet is divided into two panels with a transverse fold line therebetween and apertures in the respective panels connected by a longitudinal slit which allows the mounting portion to be pressed down over a part of the hook within the angle-iron support and snapped into place with the respective panels juxtaposed with the limbs of the support. In a second form of the invention the mounting portion of the tag is formed of four panels which fold to provide a triangular-section wedge with similar apertures and longitudinal slit allowing the wedge to be snapped over the hook into the angle iron support.

  • Patent number: 4691458
Abstract: A tag for attachment to the ear of an animal, said tag comprising in combination a male component having a headed stem and a female component having a base portion 11 with an upper surface and a lower surface, a panel 10 projecting upwardly from the upper surface. An opening 12 is formed in the base portion 11 and the headed portion of the stem of the male component is able to pass through the opening 12 to effect coupling of the male and female components. The lower surface of the base 11 includes an engagement surface 16 which in use of the tag engages with the upper outer surface of an animal's ear. The engagement surface 16 has a profile which relative to the panel is transverse to the plane of the panel and follows the contour of the upper outer surface of the animal's ear to which the tag is to be applied to resist swivelling movement of the tag about the axis of coupling between the male and female components.

  • Patent number: 4686973
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of making an inflatable bone plug for plugging the open end of an intramedullary bone canal which is capable of restricting the flow of bone cement, particularly, during the insertion of bone cement, particularly during the pressurized injection of such a cement, during an operative procedure involving the fixation of the stem of an artificial joint prosthesis such as a femoral hip joint prosthesis to the end of a bone such as a femur. The bone plug is designed to be pressurized with a biocompatible fluid and to thereafter deflate in a controlled manner after the cement hardens. Preferably, the bone plug is made by forming a hollow expandable container of a silicone elastomer permeable to carbon dioxide gas which has a valve stem attached to one end of the container and an opening at the opposite end of the container. A shrinkable elastomeric band is placed over the valve stem in which a channel has been made to receive a further cooperating injection means such as a needle.

  • Patent number: 4685612
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention concerns a plate having a coil spring indicator positioned thereon and a retaining means for retaining the indicator from its normal vertical position to a horizontal position. A pair of such plates are adapted to be mounted upon the side of a mailbox. In another embodiment of the present invention, a conventional rural mailbox is initially manufactured with a pair of spring loaded indicators positioned on the side of the mailbox and having a pair of retainer means being positioned between the spring loaded indicator and the door of the mailbox. By using a pair of spring loaded indicators, the present device indicates when mail has been deposited by the resident in the mailbox for pickup by the mailman, and when mail has been deposited by the mailman for pickup by the resident.

  • Patent number: 4685234
Abstract: A surveillance marker clip assembly includes a dual pin head section having a smooth pin for insertion through the article to be protected and a grooved securing pin. The grooved securing pin is positively received and maintained in a locking mechanism including a pair of latching chocks. Flanges are provided on the latching chocks. The flanges provide secure and positive edge-to-edge mating engagement with the grove of the pin so as to resist forced withdrawal of the pin and removal of the marker from the article. A spring biases the chocks into engagement with sloped inner cam surfaces of the clip assembly housing thus forcing the chocks into a closed position. A spring steel biasing element may also be provided concentrically disposed around the chocks to further maintain the chocks in the closed position. The chocks are made of soft ferromagnetic material so as to be openable for the release of the securing pin by means of an electromagnetic release mechanism positioned at the cashier counter.
