  • Patent number: 4662092
Abstract: A metallic picture frame construction including corner frame elements which connect rectilinear segments in an attractive manner in which the interconnecting screws are concealed from view. The corner elements surround the ends of the rectilinear segments, and they are maintained in engagement solely by compressive forces exerted by the screws making unnecessary the drilling of holes in the rectilinear members. The invention has application to wood rectilinear segments as well, using wood screws which penetrate the corner elements and the rectilinear segments.

  • Patent number: 4658524
Abstract: A storage and selectable display device for sheet media includes an enclosure having a slot. A rotatable spool is secured within the enclosure. A leader assembly attaches the sheets to the spool so that the free edges of the sheets are circumferentially disposed about the spool when rolled up. Individual leaders are attached to a master leader and charts are attached to the individual leaders. An actuator connected through a clutch rotates the spool to wind the sheets. Opposite rotation is prevented by the clutch. Belts frictionally engage a portion of the outermost surface of the spool and rolled sheets. Shafts are provided to hold the belts in position. The belt drive shaft is connected to the actuator by gearing and a clutch. The clutch actuates in the unwind direction, but not in the opposite direction. A flexible, resilient, transparent window has one edge which resiliently engages the rolled charts. An alternative ejection system includes a lay shaft and frictionally engaged idler roller.

  • Patent number: 4656765
Abstract: An apparatus for use in health care institutions to record and indicate when the bedding of a patient's bed should be changed comprises a body having a recording and display area and a control that sets the recording and display area to reveal a predetermined bedding control schedule for at least one patient's bed. Thus, the recording and display area and the control cooperatively define a bed change indicator that accurately records and quickly displays the most efficient and effective use of bedding for a particular patient. In preferred form, the apparatus includes a body having a groove with markings to define the display area and a display bar that slidably fits within the groove. The display bar has transparent and opaque portions, and as it slidably moves in relation to the display area, the transparent portions of the display bar reveal a predetermined bedding control schedule.

  • Patent number: 4653209
Abstract: A mask and mask assembly for use in a directory sign or the like. One or more masks are affixed to a backing panel, thereby defining a number of adjacent parallel channels for removably receiving message strips in the form of transparencies or the like. The mask comprises a substantially plane sheet member preferably flat on the front side, and on the back side having a number of raised lands longitudinally extending along the mask. The lands are laterally spaced apart from each other, and this facing defines the channels for receiving message strips. The masks have complementary overlapping lateral edges, so that a number of masks can be aligned side-to-side on a backing panel.
