  • Patent number: 5133090
Abstract: An antiviral surgical or examination glove is obtained by blocking adsorption sites for the antiinfective agent which may exist in the lubricating agent, e.g., cross-linked corn starch, or in the material of the glove itself. The glove of the invention comprises an elastomeric hand-shaped body having interior and exterior surfaces and an inner coating disposed on the interior surface of the elastomeric body. The inner coating comprises (a) an antiinfective agent selected from the group consisting of chlorhexidine and pharmaceutically acceptable salts of chlorhexidine and (b) a lubricating agent which does not significantly adsorb the antiinfective agent. The inner coating is effective to deliver an antivirally effective amount of the antiinfective agent within ten minutes of exposure to a liquid.

  • Patent number: 5131097
Abstract: A firefighter's garment as dislosed herein may be a coat or trousers or a vest. The garment has an outer layer, an intermediate layer, and an inner layer. A spacer element or elements are positoned between two of the layers of the garment. The spacer element or elements in the firefighter's garment establish and maintain an air space or air spaces between the layers of the garment, even when localized pressure or weight is applied to portions of the garment. Thus, the firefighter's garment has excellent heat insulation qualities without being heavy and/or bulky. Thus, a firefighter wearing the garment is continually protected and is subject to minimum stress and is about to work more effectively than a firefighter wearing a firefighter's conventional garment.

  • Patent number: 5131338
Abstract: A regulating mechanism for needle thread between a standard thread tensioning device in the head of the upper arm of a sewing machine and the eye of the reciprocable needle employs a lever-shaped takeup member which is oscillated in the head in synchronism with the movements of the needle, and a wire spring which is mounted directly on the takeup member. The spring has a U-shaped thread engaging portion which surrounds and cooperates with a hook-shaped arm of the takeup member to define a passage for needle thread. The spring tensions the thread during certain stages of each stitch forming step.

  • Patent number: 5131099
Abstract: The sock is produced as a knitted mesh article and at least in the sock leg has concave holding elements formed as thread bows and which are directed in the direction towards the foot. The height-to-length ratio of the thread bows directed downwardly is selected such that the loops when wearing on the leg and in the case of leg movements serve to produce a movement of the entire mesh article, e.g. sock, in the direction away from the foot. The holding elements are formed as the meshes of a loop plush, in which the loops serving as the holding elements are constituted by the thread bows. This is achieved in simple manner in that at least part of the meshes are formed from a plush thread and a basic thread, whereof the mesh head is directed towards the edge of the sock while the holding elements in the form of loops are directed towards the foot. Thus, the sock can be manufactured as a loop plush.

  • Patent number: 5131095
Abstract: An archer's tab comprises a one piece blank having a first string facing panel which is connected by a pair of bands at opposite sides of the first panel to second and third finger panels. The finger panels are rotated through 360.degree. to superimpose and connect them to the first panel at connection areas on the panels which are spaced away from a finger tip and string engaging portion of the tab. A thong connected to a hole extending in the connection area of the tab is used to engage around the wrist to help hold the tab to the hand and preclude excessive opening motion of the fingers when the bow string is released.
