  • Patent number: 4265214
Abstract: A heating apparatus is disclosed wherein a combustion chamber which contains the fuel to be burned is located adjacent to an air heating chamber. Conduit means communicate from the air heating chamber to the combustion chamber for the purpose of leading air, which has been heated within the air heating chamber, into the combustion chamber. Blower means draw ambient air from the space surrounding the heater into the air heating chamber where it is blown through the conduit means into the combustion chamber to promote efficient combustion of the fuel.

  • Patent number: 4265215
Abstract: A passive type of space heater having a vertical air heating duct located at the rear of the combustion chamber and a flue duct extending through the air heating duct with its inlet located so as to draw the flue gases from the combustion chamber around the surfaces of the air heating duct. Air for combustion is supplied to the top of the combustion chamber by an air supply duct which extends inside of the flue duct and has orifices to provide air in the flue duct for secondary combustion of the flue gases passing through the flue duct. The air supply duct also has an ejector to draw a portion of the flue gases into the air supply duct for recirculation to the combustion chamber for tertiary combustion. A separate air supply duct is provided for supplying air for combustion during start-up.

  • Patent number: 4261325
Abstract: An airtight steel stove having a dripless top or rear flue collar and cover plate assembly is disclosed. The stove is provided with similar openings in a top wall and a rear wall. Interchangeable flue collar and cover plate assemblies allow the stove to be used either as a top flue or rear flue type by placing the flue collar and cover plate assemblies as desired. The flue collar has an inside diameter sized to receive a stove pipe therewithin. This eliminates drippage of creosote and other similar products of combustion onto the outside of the stove. Instead, such materials are returned to the interior of the stove.

  • Patent number: 4250864
Abstract: A heat exchanger (10) disclosed functions as a grate for an enclosed stove and includes a front hearth section (14) of an upwardly opening U-shape including tubing for carrying a fluid to be heated. An open end of the front hearth section allows an associated stove to be stroked through a front door opening thereof as well as through a top opening of the stove. A rear flue section (20) of the heat exchanger includes tubing for carrying fluid to provide preheating thereof by flue gases prior to passage to the hearth section. Inlet and outlet tubes (24, 26) of the heat exchanger respectively supply the fluid to be heated to the flue section and receive the heated fluid from the hearth section. A central connector tube (28) preferably extends between the flue and hearth sections with grate tubes (30) of the hearth section extending from the connector tube to define the U-shape thereof and with a pair of the outlet tubes communicated with upper ends of the grate tubes.

  • Patent number: 4245615
Abstract: A cooking range has a pair of side panels as its main structural members. A range top, back panel, bottom member and oven frame are all secured to the side panels and a heat insulated oven shell having an open front is supported at its forward end by the oven frame and by spaced brackets engaging the back panel. Heat conductive contact between the oven shell and oven frame, between the oven frame and side panels and between inner and outer walls of the side panels is minimized by forming upstanding pads on one of each of the pairs of members and through which suitable fastening means extend. The pads are of small area and are the only portions of the members that are in direct contact.

  • Patent number: 4245523
Abstract: A rocker arm and a method of making the same are provided. In one form, the rocker arm is of the wrap-around type in which a metal sheet is appropriately symmetrically shaped and is then bent back on itself on the line of symmetry at which one end of the rocker arm body is formed. The two halves are then affixed together by projection welding or the like. The rocker arm has two diverging, downwardly-extending walls formed at the one end of the body with a separate socket member then resistance welded to the walls. The socket member has a central oil opening which supplies oil to a push rod from an oil passage in the rocker arm body. This passage, in turn, communicates with an oil supply passage in a shaft on which the rocker arm is rotatably supported through a hole in a bearing sleeve carried by the rocker arm body. A second, separate passage communicates with the other end of the rocker arm and with the oil supply passage in the shaft through a separate hole in the bearing sleeve.
