Abstract: The present invention is directed to a label structure which is a combination packing slip and shipping label for use on a package. The packing slip has a front side having an area onto which the destination of the package and a description of items to be contained in the package can be printed. The shipping label, which is preferably substantially transparent, has a top side and a bottom side. The bottom side preferably has an adhesive coating adhered thereto. The shipping label is removably attached to the back side of the packing slip until it is ready for use. In order to facilitate the removal of the shipping label from the back side of the packing slip, a layer having a substantially smooth surface is preferably adhered to the back side of the packing slip. In use, the destination of the package and the contents to be packed therein are preferably transcribed on the front side of the packing slip.

Abstract: Business forms having labels integral with the sheets there of (rather than riding piggyback thereon) are produced by applying a strip of transfer tape to only a portion of the second face of a sheet, with the adhesive of the transfer tape contacting the sheet, so that sheet material surrounds the transfer tape strip completely. Then a label is die cut from the first face of the sheet, preferably after the transfer tape is applied, within the area of the sheet overlying the transfer tape strip, without cutting the transfer tape backing. Indicia is at some point printed on the first face of the sheet. The label may be readily removed, with the adhesive from the transfer tape sticking to the label while the backing of the transfer tape remains in place. The strip of transfer tape is cut from a web, and then is transported with the adhesive face outward by a vacuum cylinder, until it moves into contact with a moving web.

Abstract: A stationery sheet having labels removably attached thereto by pressure-sensitive adhesive. The sheet may be sent through a laser printer or other printing equipment for the purpose of printing indicia on the sheet and the label. After the sheet exits the printer, the labels may be peeled off the sheet and attached to a letter or some other document. A release coating may be applied to the sheet at the areas where the labels are attached to facilitate peeling the labels from the sheet. A high temperature, stable, pressure-sensitive adhesive is used to facilitate passing the sheet through high temperature printers.

Abstract: A booklet album is constructed by a booklet body consisting of a bundle of photographs sandwiched between front and rear cover sheets, and a narrow adhesive tape which is adhered to one side of the booklet body so as to form the back or spine cover of the booklet album. A photograph binding apparatus is provided with a pair of nipping members for nipping the booklet body, and a photograph receiving tray for supporting the lower end of the booklet body inserted between the nipping members. When pressing the adhesive tape onto the booklet body, the photograph receiving tray is retracted from the booklet body after the booklet body is tightly nipped by the nipping members, and instead, a stage supporting the adhesive tape is lifted toward the booklet body. The stage is as large as the adhesive tape, and has a plurality of ridges for inventively pressing the adhesive tape.

Abstract: A two part shipping form has top and bottom plies with a shipping label operatively mounted on the second ply. Image transfer mechanisms, such as CF and CB coatings, are provided on the bottom of the first ply and the top face of the label and the second ply. Beneath the pressure sensitive adhesive of the label is a silicone coating or a transparent release material ply to allow the label to be removed from the second ply. Beneath the silicone coating is a self-contained spot, so that indicia written on the top ply transfers to the top face of the label and to the top face of the second ply beneath the label. The forms are made on presses and by blowing the label, with or without the transparent midply, onto the second ply.

Abstract: A magazine is provided with an insert which can be utilized as a return mailer. The insert can be stapled or glued in place when the plies of the magazine are assembled together and includes a multi-ply portion in another part of the magazine. The multi-ply portion has a pocket which contains one or more inserts and has a flap which can close over the pocket so that, when removed, the multi-ply portion can be used as a return mailer.

Abstract: Tickets for concerts, conventions, sports, and like events, have a security feature to assist in preventing counterfeiting. A stretchable security thread is disposed in a piece of paper stock extending so that it intersects, with portions lying on either side of, a line of separation in the piece of paper stock (and/or is parallel to the length of the ticket). The line of separation typically is a perforation. The security thread is a stretchable material, such as polyester, and may have microprinting. When the ticket is detached at the line of separation, the security thread does not initially separate but rather stretches to provide a visual (and tactile) indication between the separated portions of the paper stock before it breaks. Such tickets are produced from a web of material having the security threads, which web is printed, and then cut into sheets for delivery to a customer who then can apply variable printing.

Abstract: A sheet binder for binding sheets by adhering the sheets to a back of a cover member by a heat-fusible adhesive. The sheet binder includes a supporting member for supporting the cover member having the back, to an inner surface of which the heat-fusible adhesive is applied, a heat generating member disposed in the proximity of the supporting member, and an alternate magnetic field generating device for generating an alternate magnetic field to heat the heat generating member.

Abstract: Disclosed is a paper saver for use with continuous paper forms, the paper saver comprising a generally rectangular shaped flexible sheet having a top and a bottom and two parallel sides defining the rectangular shaped material. The sides extend to provide the material with a width approximate that of the paper forms. The sides of the material have openings therein to engage a drive mechanism and bosses on at least one of the sides to engage the paper form whereby said paper saver can be fed through processing equipment and providing a first part of said paper for information.

Abstract: A form for recording information for preparing and delivering a food-type order, such as an order for pizza and the like food and non-food items, comprises a stack of pressure sensitive copy sheets that are joined together along a common edge. Aligned columns are formed upon the sheets to provde overlapped spaces for receiving written information such as the items ordered, prices, delivery addresses and the like. At least some of the sheets are cut transversely to the common edge to form sets of overlapped, narrow, elongated strips, each having the information spaces. A delivery address space is provided adjacent the common edge and is of a length which is roughly twice the length used for recording address information. A tear line is formed on one of the sheets at the inner end of its address space to form a separable delivery tag.

Abstract: The image transfer medium, such as a carbon spot or microcapsule type of medium is provided with a protective overcoat which precludes smudging of an insert ply within the mailer form due to the rubbing of the face of the mailer form. The overcoat serves to preclude or greatly reduce an image transfer under a transversely applied rubbing force while allowing transfer of an image under impact force.

Abstract: A security device comprising a substrate having applied thereto an array of characters, the characters being of a sufficiently small size as to appear uniform when ordinarily viewed but individually identifiable when viewed with the aid of appropriate magnification means, whereby group(s) of the characters are phase-shifted relative to the others in such a manner as to collectively define an image, the image being relatively indiscernible when the device is ordinarily viewed but discernible when viewed with the aid of a finding screen.

Abstract: In a security document having an embedded security element in the form of a transparent thread with electrically conductive material in at least two layers, at least one layer is transparent or partly transparent at least in certain areas. The partly transparent layer interacts with marks located on the thread in such a way that the marks are largely concealed in incident light but are recognizable visually in transmitted light.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for rubbing down spines of case bound books includes at least one case-in wing that carries case bound books. Each case-in wing includes a leading edge on which the spine of each case bound book is positioned. The case-in wing is moved at a first predetermined rate along a first path. The apparatus includes at least one rub down roller that is moved at a second predetermined rate along a second path. The second path crosses and is at an angle to the first path. During operation, the rub down roller rolls along the entire length of the spine of the book on the case-in wing. The second predetermined rate and the angle of the second path relative to the first path are selected such that the rub down roller moves at the same speed as the case-in wing to maintain a constant distance between the rub-down roller and the spine of the book.

Abstract: A sample book for retaining a plurality of sample cards includes at least two retaining members for the sample cards disposed on opposite sides of a foldable spine. In the folded position of the spine, the retaining members are relatively close to one another, while in the unfolded position of the spine the retaining members are spaced from one another so that the sample cards can lie flatly therebetween.

Abstract: A wallet size laminated medical information card is made by providing the information on a form at a physician's center. The information is then transmitted to a data base where it is reproduced on format software which adjusts the size of the information for wallet size. The information is then laser printed onto a card which is plastic laminated and folded so that it is of conventional credit card size, while the information thereon can be read without the use of special optical devices.

Abstract: A map folded into a small handy package is arranged to be unfold in different sized section showing areas of interest around a specific location, a hotel or a motel, etc., with each section enlarging the map area radiating out from the specific location. Colored edge strips make finding map areas easy and provide a color aligning of edges to prevent improper folding the map from fully unfolded back to a small handy package.

Abstract: A telescopic cutting apparatus comprising an elongated outer tubular arm of not less than four feet in length; a first handle means coaxial with and closing off the lower end of said outer tubular arm; a biased electrical on/off switch means disposed within said handle means and being normally in the "off" position and requiring constant application of force to be translated into the "on" position.
